Spellbound Hearts - Chapter 75 - Helping Her
Elder Song?
Ji Xuan paused slightly at the mention and turned her head to look at Qiu Lin.
Seeing the confusion in her eyes, Qiu Lin raised his hand, half-clenched into a fist, and pretended to cough lightly, lowering his voice to explain, “President Song’s grandfather.”
Ji Xuan asked, “Waiting for me?”
With so many people around, Qiu Lin couldn’t speak openly, so he blinked at her a few times.
It seemed so.
Though they hadn’t developed deep rapport in a week, they had some minor understanding.
Ji Xuan understood that this wasn’t the place for a conversation, nodded slightly, and continued walking.
At the door of the President’s Office, Ji Xuan raised her hand to knock.
Upon hearing a voice from inside say “Come in,” she placed her hand on the doorknob and entered.
Song Zhaoli’s office was primarily decorated in coffee tones, neither oppressive nor lively.
Compared to his distinct persona, the office’s decor was quite conventional.
After entering, Ji Xuan calmly greeted, “President Song.”
Song Zhaoli sat in his executive chair, his expression slightly stern, “Have you heard about the Bi Sheng project?”
Ji Xuan replied calmly, “Yes, I have.”
Song Zhaoli’s voice was low, “Share your thoughts on this project.”
Ji Xuan spoke steadily, “Bi Sheng’s investor is a foreign company. Initially, they wanted to turn the project into a water park. After completing the foundation, they realized it wasn’t suitable. Then, they creatively decided to convert it into an amusement park. Halfway through construction, the necessary approvals weren’t granted, leaving the project in a mess.”
Song Zhaoli asked, “Do you think this project is worth investing in?”
Ji Xuan pondered for over ten seconds before responding, “It depends.”
Song Zhaoli, expressionless, slightly lifted his chin, signaling her to continue.
Ji Xuan’s lips curved, “If it’s about equity investment, there’s no need. The mess is too big, and there are too many decision-makers. The disadvantages outweigh the advantages, leading to endless troubles. However, if it’s about acquiring the project at a price 35% below market value, it might be worth considering.”
Ji Xuan analyzed the pros and cons clearly while maintaining eye contact with Song Zhaoli across the desk.
Song Zhaoli’s shirt collar was slightly open. Listening to her analysis, his long fingers lazily tapped a few times on the armrest of his chair, “Do you think Bi Sheng would be willing to transfer the project at a price 35% below market value?”
Ji Xuan spoke frankly, “It’s unlikely.”
Song Zhaoli asked, “Any solutions?”
Ji Xuan considered and said, “Forty percent chance.”
Song Zhaoli raised an eyebrow at this, “Such a low chance?”
Ji Xuan remained composed, “I won’t boast.”
Being new and having arrived suddenly, even if she had done nothing wrong, she was already seen as having faults in others’ eyes. If she boasted about being able to handle the project and then failed, her future at Song Group would be predictable.
Even if not impossible, it would be precarious.
Their conversation was straightforward, devoid of personal emotions.
After Ji Xuan finished speaking, Song Zhaoli looked at her for a moment before shifting his gaze to Elder Song seated on the sofa, “Grandfather.”
Ji Xuan had noticed the elderly man sitting on the sofa since she entered the office.
His hair was white, and he exuded authority without anger.
He held a cane, with the handle carved into an eagle.
The eagle was lifelike, especially its eyes, sharp and somber.
Ji Xuan didn’t intend to scrutinize Elder Song, but his gaze was firmly fixed on her, assessing her.
After a moment, Elder Song said something unrelated to the Bi Sheng project, “Did he go to Yan City last week because of you?”
Ji Xuan knew exactly what Elder Song was referring to and replied calmly, “Yes, at that time I was still at Wansheng. There was an issue with a project I was collaborating on with President Song, and he asked me to revise the proposal.”
Elder Song asked, “Just because of the project?”
Ji Xuan confirmed, “Yes.”
Elder Song scoffed, leaning on his cane, then turned to Song Zhaoli, “Since you believe she has the ability, let her handle this project. If she succeeds, let her stay at Song Group. If she doesn’t…”
He paused, leaving the implication hanging.
Ji Xuan wasn’t naive; she understood the underlying message was that if she failed, she’d have to pack up and leave.
Standing silently at the desk, Ji Xuan knew it wasn’t her place to make decisions with Elder Song present, especially with Song Zhaoli there.
Song Zhaoli’s fingers paused their tapping on the armrest, and he lifted his gaze to Elder Song, “If she succeeds, is merely letting her stay at Song Group enough?”
Elder Song inquired, “What do you propose?”
Song Zhaoli suggested, “Rewards should be clear. If she succeeds, give her a one percent commission on the project.”
A three billion project meant three million for her.
Ji Xuan’s eyes flickered at the mention, lifting her gaze.
Song Zhaoli didn’t look at her but instead met Elder Song’s eyes with a faint smile, “What do you think?”
