Revenge on the Ruthless CEO - Chapter 68 - Liberation
Murong Qingming had just received a call from An Kai, informing him that An Luya had been injured in another country and was in critical condition. Moreover, she was already pregnant with his child before she had left the country. Overwhelmed with both shock and joy, he immediately flew to the country and found An Luya at the address An Kai had provided. Holding her trembling body, he cried out, “Luya, Luya…” and urgently summoned the best doctors.
Medical staff began emergency treatments, bustling around in urgency. An Luya pushed away the respirator, staring blankly at Murong Qingming.
“What are you doing? Don’t say anything now, let the doctors treat you,” Murong Qingming urged, desperate for her to be okay.
“Qingming, it’s no use! I just want your forgiveness, I don’t want to leave you, forgive me!” An Luya pleaded.
“I don’t blame you, really! I know how you feel about me, but I-”
“I understand, it’s my own fault, my own obsession. Please, just forgive me,” An Luya whispered, blood continuously trickling from the corners of her mouth, her life hanging by a thread.
“I blame no one, you need to survive, do you hear me? I’m sorry! All of this is my fault, I am truly sorry.” Murong Qingming held An Luya’s hand tightly, tears swirling in his eyes as he looked sorrowfully at her pale face.
“President, the lady is in grave danger. Her heartbeat is very weak, and her blood pressure is dropping,” a doctor quickly reported.
“Save her! Whatever it takes, save her, do you hear me!” Murong Qingming grabbed the doctor’s collar, shouting at him, then turned to Doctor Qi Yang, who seemed just as powerless to save Luya as the first doctor.
“Yes, yes, preparing the adrenaline injection…” The medical team became even more frantic, thankfully equipped with comprehensive facilities on the plane. After a while, as An Luya received blood transfusions, adrenaline injections, and even defibrillation, Murong Qingming’s heart was in agony, wishing he could be the one suffering in her place. His Luya, the treasure he cherished and protected, was enduring so much.
As time ticked by, everyone sighed in relief when the medical monitors finally stabilized. The doctor, looking as if he had been pulled from water, was visibly shaken.
“How is she now?” Murong Qingming asked, trembling as he gently touched An Luya’s bandaged head, his heart aching unbearably.
“The lady is temporarily out of danger, and the baby has been saved too. However, we cannot operate on the head injury due to the hematoma that cannot be drained.”
“What do you mean exactly? Get to the point!” Murong Qingming thundered, furious. What did it mean by ‘temporarily’ safe? Was there still danger ahead? The doctor, terrified, responded cautiously.
“The key point is: the lady won’t wake up within two months, and neither she nor the baby inside her can survive.”
“What? Say that again!” Murong Qingming swung his arm, sending the doctor flying out and crashing heavily to the ground.
“No, no. Luya, you can’t leave me. You wouldn’t be so heartless as to leave me all alone, would you? Don’t sleep; please wake up. Look at me, touch me, I’m right here, wake up, Luya. You can’t be so cruel to me; wake up, do you hear me!” Murong Qingming’s tears, held back until now, suddenly burst forth, streaming down his cheeks. He picked up Luya’s hand and continuously rubbed it against his face, hoping she would feel him and wake up soon.
In the eighth-floor hospital room, An Luya lay quietly, her face deathly pale without a hint of color. Murong Qingming sat silently by her bedside. After entering, the doctor conducted a thorough examination of An Luya, and the results confirmed what the previous doctor had said.
The next day, everyone from within the country who heard the news rushed over, but to what avail? An Luya lay there unresponsive. Murong Qingming, as if he had lost his soul, also sat there without saying a word. Everyone was extremely worried, genuinely concerned that Murong Qingming’s repressed emotions might suddenly collapse, leading to a mental breakdown. Yet no one dared to comfort Murong Qingming, only feeling anxious in their hearts.
Murong Qingming was like this with everyone now; his eyes only saw Luya, subconsciously ignoring others. Apart from eating and using the restroom, he spent his days talking to Luya and calmly smiling at her.
Though Murong Qingming appeared calm, everyone knew the pain in his heart. Every night, when it was quiet, loneliness and solitude enveloped him. Although he could hold Luya as he slept every night, her inability to move made it difficult for him to fall asleep. Even if he did fall asleep, he would suddenly wake up to check Luya’s breathing and heartbeat, only relaxing when he felt everything was normal. At those moments, Murong Qingming couldn’t sleep anymore and would lie beside her, earnestly talking to her.
This calmness continued for over a month, and everyone grew increasingly anxious as there were still no signs of Luya waking up. How could fate be so cruel? Luya was so kind; why couldn’t she be blessed to live a happy and joyful life?
Murong Qingming became increasingly silent and despondent, making it clear to everyone that if Luya were to pass away, Murong Qingming wouldn’t want to live either. Qi Yang stayed outside the hospital room, and Murong Qingming continued to ignore him every day.
Qi Yang could no longer endure such days. He took a deep breath and walked into the hospital room. Was the boss really not planning to use him anymore? That was unacceptable! No matter what, he absolutely did not want to leave the boss. The boss was his elder brother, his lifesaver. Back in their mercenary days, if it weren’t for the boss protecting him, he wouldn’t know how many times he could have died. At that time, Jing Ziming, Lan Lin, Qing Xuan, and Wang Wu all willingly became subordinates of Murong Qingming, and it was then that he swore to follow Murong Qingming’s orders for life. Even after taking over the position of a mafia godfather, he never forgot his promise; his life belonged to Murong Qingming, he was his man.
Thus, Murong Qingming’s indifference now felt like a sharp knife thrust directly into his heart, a pain that was boundless. He couldn’t bear it, he wanted to pull out the knife, to stop the bleeding. He wished the boss would just end his agony, not keep him hanging like this. Luya lay there silently, and Murong Qingming sat quietly, watching her. This demeanor of the boss left Qi Yang feeling an indescribable mix of sorrow and pain.
“Boss, I was wrong. I know this is all my fault. If I hadn’t helped Lan Lin, he wouldn’t have died, and sister-in-law wouldn’t be in this condition. I know I’m wrong, please punish me. Just don’t drive me away from Xiting Commerce Clan, I’ll accept any punishment. Please, boss, don’t ignore me like this, I truly realize my mistake.” Without another word, Qi Yang knelt down in front of Murong Qingming, determined not to get up until he was forgiven.
Murong Qingming slowly turned to look at Qi Yang, then slowly turned his head back to continue watching Luya, as if nothing had happened.
“Boss, please, just end this torment. Whether you want me to die or whatever, just say something, will you?” Qi Yang was desperate, the boss was truly intriguing. ‘Die?’ Luya had said not to let anyone else die. Hearing this, Murong Qingming thought for a long time before finally speaking faintly, giving a directive, and Qi Yang secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
“Qi Yang, this isn’t your fault. Take Lan Lin’s ashes back to Europe. As of today, I command Wang Wu to take over Lan Lin’s position. All of you return to your respective countries. The Four Spirits of Australia will stay in Hong Kong.” Wang Wu was fully capable of filling the position of one of the Four Protectors; he had no doubts about that.
“Boss, I’m relieved you’re not angry. And don’t worry too much, sister-in-law is blessed and she will be alright.” Murong Qingming nodded, and Qi Yang felt a weight lift from his heart, but at the same time, he felt an overwhelming sense of guilt. If anything happened to sister-in-law, he would live with a troubled conscience forever, always living in self-reproach.
Days passed, and Luya’s baby began to show signs of malnutrition, yet Luya’s consciousness remained hazy, unaware of anything. Murong Qingming was on the verge of breaking down.
“Luya, please wake up! I know you’re tired, but let’s have some food and then you can sleep, okay?”
“You’ve been asleep for so long, do you really want to be a lazy cat? Do you know how bad you look right now? Get up! Let me help you get cleaned up and dressed.”
“Luya, you really are terrible, do you know that? When I was unconscious, I woke up in just a few days. I didn’t want you to be sad, didn’t want to see you all alone. But you? You’ve been sleeping for two months now. Do you know how lonely and alone I feel? Please wake up and keep me company.”
