Reborn Into the Arms of My Possessive Billionaire Wife - Chapter 5
Inside the villa of the private estate, Lin Ran sprang into action upon receiving the message and headed straight to the kitchen. He wanted to prepare dinner for Luo Yao, which was the least he could do at the moment.
He wasn’t sure if the estate allowed him to leave, and he hadn’t bothered to ask. In his previous life, at this time, he could only be locked to the bed. Now, at least there were no chains, and he didn’t ask for more-taking things one step at a time.
Besides, with such a comfortable villa, a life where everything was provided, and a beautiful, enchanting wife, wasn’t this already the pinnacle of life? Why would he want to return to his previous days?
Thinking back to his childhood, Lin Ran had a decent life, but everything changed after his mother passed away. With a stepmother came a stepfather, and a brother who seemed to want him gone every day. He had no standing in the Lin family, and no one ever did anything for him. He even had to work to pay for his college tuition.
Compared to his brother Lin Jian’s life, it was like heaven and hell. Who wouldn’t want a wealthy wife?
Seeing Lin Ran heading to the kitchen, the chefs and servants in the villa were taken aback. The kitchen was considered a dangerous place in the household, and if Lin Ran got even a tiny scratch, they would all be in trouble. Everyone knew how Miss Luo Yao felt about Mr. Lin. Even if he blew up the estate, the blame would fall on the bomb and the estate, not Lin Ran.
Despite the chefs’ and servants’ attempts to dissuade him, Lin Ran remained unmoved.
“It’s fine, I just want to make dinner for Luo Yao, not take your job,” Lin Ran reassured them.
The head chef was almost in tears. “Mr. Lin, it’s not about the job; it’s about safety. If anything happens to you, I won’t survive either!”
Lin Ran made a concession. “How about this? You can watch from the side, and if I can’t manage, you can step in. Is that okay?”
The head chef thought for a moment and reluctantly agreed, realizing this was Lin Ran’s way of compromising.
Watching Lin Ran skillfully handle the knife and start cooking, the chef was slightly shocked. Mr. Lin, who had always lived a life of luxury, could actually cook? They didn’t know that in the Lin family, it was Lin Ran who cooked, not the maids.
After Lin Ran finished preparing eight dishes and a soup, Luo Yao returned. Seeing no one in the hall, she immediately headed upstairs to the bedroom, only to find it empty. Her expression turned cold instantly.
No one was around. The last time this happened, Lin Ran had run away, and Uncle Fu had taken all the guards and servants to search for him. Was it happening again?
Ah-Ran, why can’t you just behave?
Luo Yao took out her phone and opened an unknown app to check the location. Hmm? Still in the villa?
As she pondered, Uncle Fu hurriedly came from the kitchen. “Miss, you’re back!”
“Where’s Ah-Ran?”
“Mr. Lin is in the kitchen. He said he wanted to cook for you personally.”
Luo Yao was momentarily stunned before her expression slowly returned to normal. Uncle Fu wiped his brow, thinking he was lucky to have spoken quickly; otherwise, he might have lost his life.
“Miss, Mr. Lin is almost done. Please come downstairs.”
Luo Yao nodded coldly, changed into more comfortable clothes in the bedroom, and headed to the dining room.
Lin Ran had the servants bring the dishes to the dining room and followed them out of the kitchen, where he saw Luo Yao. For some reason, seeing Luo Yao filled Lin Ran with unparalleled joy, as if he was witnessing the most wonderful thing.
He opened his arms and walked toward Luo Yao, who stood there, watching him approach and embrace her, then kissed her forehead.
“Welcome home kiss!”
“I made dinner. Let’s eat together.”
“Okay.”
Luo Yao’s eyes sparkled with starlight. Is this what it feels like to have Ah-Ran?
Could it be that he’s not pretending? But then again, it seemed unlikely. Her expression turned cold once more.
Lin Ran was baffled. What was going on? Was she a master of changing expressions?
Before cooking, Lin Ran had asked Uncle Fu about Luo Yao’s dietary preferences. He didn’t want to be like the fools in novels who made the heroine allergic. Learning that Luo Yao had no specific food requirements, Lin Ran felt free to cook as he pleased.
No requirements meant that even if he served something unappetizing, she wouldn’t be upset. Not to mention, his cooking skills were quite good.
Luo Yao, dressed in casual home attire, was captivating, and the scenes from last night flashed in Lin Ran’s mind, causing him to blush slightly.
After Luo Yao sat down, Lin Ran took the seat next to her and lit the candles he had prepared, instructing the servants to turn off the lights. This move left Uncle Fu and the servants surprised.
Previously, Lin Ran would sit as far away from Luo Yao as possible, prompting her to replace the luxurious dining table with a smaller one. Even then, he sat across from her. Now, he was sitting right next to her and had lit romantic candles. The change was significant.
Luo Yao was also pleased with Lin Ran’s transformation. She thought it would be nice if he could keep up the act.
Lin Ran served a bowl of beauty-enhancing soup to Luo Yao and then helped himself to a bowl. A wife needs to maintain her beauty, and so does he! What if she didn’t want him anymore when he got old and wrinkled?
Uncle Fu quickly interrupted, “Young lady, this soup looks delicious. Perhaps I could have a taste first?”
Uncle Fu was genuinely worried that Lin Ran might have poisoned the food.
Luo Yao shot Uncle Fu a cold glance, reminding him that he had overstepped. He had no right to question Lin Ran, and no one in this house could. Uncle Fu even suspected that Lin Ran’s status in the household might be slightly higher than Miss Luo Yao’s.
Luo Yao said coldly, “No need. This is made by Ah-Ran, and I trust him.”
Even if it were poison, if Lin Ran asked her to drink it, she would do so without hesitation.
Uncle Fu felt awkward, but Lin Ran smiled calmly. He didn’t blame Uncle Fu; such concerns were entirely reasonable.
“I’ll go first then!” Lin Ran said, not waiting for anyone’s reaction. He quickly took a few sips of the soup and sampled a bit of each dish. The taste was quite good, and Luo Yao should like it.
Uncle Fu awkwardly chuckled, “I apologize for my suspicion.”
Lin Ran gestured that it was okay, while Luo Yao coldly remarked, “Your bonus for this month is gone!”
Uncle Fu was shocked; this was worse than being punished.
Lin Ran generously intervened, “Luo Yao, Uncle Fu was just concerned about your safety. Let’s not dock his bonus. Try the soup.”
It wasn’t that Lin Ran was being arrogant; Uncle Fu was genuinely a good person, and his concern was for Luo Yao, so Lin Ran decided to help him out.
Luo Yao nodded, and Uncle Fu was grateful, wanting to thank Lin Ran, but seeing Luo Yao’s slightly furrowed brow, he quickly shut his mouth. How could he speak when Miss and Mr. Lin were dining?
Lin Ran watched as Luo Yao elegantly scooped a spoonful of the beauty-enhancing soup he had carefully prepared and brought it to her lips. The dim romantic candlelight made Luo Yao even more enchanting, and Lin Ran felt he could never get enough of her stunning beauty.
Luo Yao asked, “What are you looking at?”
Lin Ran replied, “Looking at how beautiful you are!”
Luo Yao frowned, “Who’s prettier, me or Liu Ruxue?”
