Psycho. Ghosts? Whatever. - Chapter 24 - The Ultimate Toilet Unclogging Tool...
At that moment, Liu Wang raised an eyebrow slightly. The severed finger abruptly changed direction, speeding straight toward Bai Yuan.
Let’s see if this kid gets scared…
In his mind, he was already picturing Bai Yuan’s panicked and flustered reaction.
However, in the very next second, Liu Wang’s expression froze.
Bai Yuan’s face remained unchanged as he suddenly extended his right hand, firmly catching the severed finger as if he had just snagged a prize catch.
“Thanks, man!”
Without giving Liu Wang a chance to respond, Bai Yuan turned and bolted upstairs.
“Huh?”
Liu Wang was left dumbfounded, completely unable to process what had just happened.
After a moment, his expression shifted dramatically, and he shouted, “Stop right there!”
He had been too focused on showing off to realize-no one had warned him that Accompanying Ghostly Entities could actually be taken away…
And what’s with this guy? Is he insane? Not even a hint of fear?
“Bonus meal, here we go again,” Bai Yuan muttered, gripping the severed finger tightly as he sprinted straight toward the restroom.
“What?”
The students in the hallway froze, quickly stepping aside to clear a path.
A bonus meal… and he’s running to the restroom?
At that moment, Liu Wang came charging after him, yelling furiously, “That’s mine!”
The crowd was stunned once more.
Wait, is there some kind of delicacy hidden in the restroom? Why are they fighting over it?
Ignoring the curious stares, Bai Yuan dashed into the last stall of the restroom and pressed the severed finger against his chest.
After all, it was a gift. Waste not, want not.
However, the Ghost Face showed no reaction whatsoever, as if it had no appetite for the offering.
“Not eating it?” Bai Yuan paused, puzzled. He rinsed the severed finger under the nearby faucet, thinking it might just need to be cleaned.
But the Ghost Face remained indifferent, even emanating a faint sense of disdain.
“Huh? Too good for this?” Bai Yuan was taken aback. Was this thing actually picky?
Only eats ghosts, not Accompanying Ghostly Entities? Or maybe this particular entity was just too weak?
As he pondered, Liu Wang burst into the restroom. Seeing the severed finger still in Bai Yuan’s hand, he let out a sigh of relief.
“Give it back!”
Liu Wang didn’t fully understand the significance of an Accompanying Ghostly Entity, but he knew one thing-it made him stand out. It was the ultimate tool for showing off!
“Didn’t you give it to me?” Bai Yuan asked, clearly reluctant to return it. If the Ghost Face wouldn’t eat it, he could at least study it.
“Give it to you, my ass!” Liu Wang glared at him. He had only been joking-how was he supposed to know this guy would actually grab it?
“A gift is a gift. A man should keep his word!” Bai Yuan brushed past Liu Wang, heading for the restroom door.
“Stop right there!”
Instinctively, Liu Wang reached out to block him, but Bai Yuan casually waved his right hand, sending Liu Wang stumbling backward. He nearly fell to the ground.
Their physiques weren’t even in the same league, but apparently, neither was their strength…
“What kind of freak is this…” A trace of fear crept into Liu Wang’s heart.
At this moment, Bai Yuan’s footsteps came to a halt. Standing just outside the restroom was Wang Li.
“Teacher Wang…” Bai Yuan’s expression froze for a second before he forced an awkward smile.
Wang Li’s gaze shifted to the severed finger in Bai Yuan’s hand. He spoke calmly, “That’s someone else’s Accompanying Ghostly Entity. Holding onto it won’t do you any good.”
“Teacher, that’s not necessarily true…” Bai Yuan glanced at the finger and muttered, “After some observation, I’ve determined it’s a middle finger. I was planning to turn it into a prop for mockery. This way, I won’t have to use my own hand to make international gestures in the future.”
“???”
Wang Li fell into a deep silence, his mind struggling to process Bai Yuan’s bizarre train of thought. What kind of logic is this?!
“Bro, just give it back to me,” Liu Wang, standing to the side, pleaded with a mournful expression. “If you ever need to make an international gesture, just call me. I’ll do it for you…”
Bai Yuan shot him a glance, realizing that it was unlikely he’d be able to walk away with the finger. He looked at Liu Wang and asked, “Are you going to keep showing off in the future?”
“No, absolutely not!” Liu Wang immediately patted his chest in a show of sincerity, though his inner thoughts betrayed him: If I can’t use the Accompanying Ghostly Entity to show off, what’s the point of having it?
“Alright, I’ve had my fun. Here, take it back.” Bai Yuan shook his head and tossed the severed finger back to Liu Wang.
“Huh? Why is it wet?” Liu Wang froze in confusion, completely unaware that Bai Yuan had earlier contemplated eating the finger and had even rinsed it off in preparation.
Bai Yuan raised an eyebrow, and a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes. “Oh, about that. The last stall in the men’s restroom was clogged earlier. I have this habit of helping out when I see a problem, so… you get the idea.”
“???”
Liu Wang’s eyes widened in shock, as if struck by lightning. You didn’t… you didn’t seriously use my Accompanying Ghostly Entity to unclog the toilet, did you?!
“Not gonna lie, your little ghostly trinket works wonders. Way better than any professional plumbing tool!” Bai Yuan patted Liu Wang on the shoulder and added, “You’ll never have to worry about unemployment with this thing.”
With that, he walked off, leaving behind a stunned Liu Wang, who stood there pale-faced, looking as though his soul had left his body. He stared at the finger in his hand, torn between disgust and reluctance to let it go. For a moment, he was utterly conflicted.
“This kid…” Wang Li, too, was shaken, once again witnessing Bai Yuan’s sheer unpredictability.
“Teacher… do you think my Accompanying Ghostly Entity is still usable?” Liu Wang looked at Wang Li with a pleading expression.
“Consider this a lesson learned,” Wang Li said, casting him a sidelong glance. “As a Ghost Spirit User, you’re generous to a fault if you can just hand over your Accompanying Ghostly Entity to someone else.”
“…” Liu Wang hung his head, too ashamed to respond.
“One more thing!” Wang Li’s tone suddenly turned stern. “If you ever use your Accompanying Ghostly Entity to flaunt your power in front of ordinary people again, you can pack your bags and leave the Ghost Spirit Class!”
“Y-Yes, sir…” Liu Wang’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly lowered his head in submission.
…
By this time, Bai Yuan had returned to the classroom. Zhou Han was sitting at his desk, but the table in front of him was completely cleared.
“Heading off to report to the Ghost Spirit Class?” Bai Yuan raised an eyebrow, already piecing the situation together.
Zhou Han nodded, a hint of reluctance in his eyes. “Bai-Ge, if you ever need anything, just call me. I’ll be in Ghost Spirit Class Two.”
Now that Zhou Han possessed an Accompanying Ghostly Entity, his status had risen significantly. Yet, in front of Bai Yuan, his demeanor remained unchanged.
“Alright.” Bai Yuan nodded. “Work hard, and remember to have my back when the time comes.”
“Of course.” Zhou Han grinned widely before striding out of Class One for seniors.
“…” Bai Yuan shook his head, not feeling particularly sentimental about the departure.
Just then, the class teacher, Teacher Zhao, walked in. Her gaze lingered briefly on Zhou Han as he left, but she didn’t say much. While she firmly believed that academic success was the most legitimate path in life, the government’s official endorsement of Ghost Science left her, as a mere teacher, with little room to object.
“Alright, everyone, starting today, we’re resuming our regular studies,” Teacher Zhao announced, her tone firm as she noticed the distracted expressions on her students’ faces. “Focus up. Even without an Accompanying Ghostly Entity, your life trajectory won’t change. Education is still your best path forward!”
Though the students were reluctant, they had no choice but to accept reality. As top-performing students in their grade, they quickly settled down and returned to their studies.
Bai Yuan, too, resumed his quiet, uneventful life.
