Please Dote on Me - Chapter 58 - The Concert
In the end, Shichui agreed to proceed with the JS concert as planned.
Chinei’s prediction came true. She said that Shichui’s songs were first performed for me, and if I left him, he wouldn’t be able to sing these songs meant for me. He wouldn’t be content. He would hold a concert to sing them, for me. And he did exactly that.
Chinei understood Shichui better than I ever did.
At least I managed to accomplish one thing. This guy was finally going to hold this important concert. But despite my happiness, I felt no sense of achievement. Instead, I felt exhausted, with a slight, aching bitterness in my heart.
Since the moment I walked away from Shichui, ignoring his sincere plea, I hadn’t felt good. I had hurt him deeply.
I bought a ticket like any other fan and planned to watch Shichui’s performance. I called him, “Do your best. Perform well. Because I’ll be watching, I’ll be in the audience, so you absolutely can’t mess up in front of me.”
“Qi Yang! Where are you? Come out right now!” Shichui’s voice was almost breaking the phone.
“I’m looking forward to hearing those songs.” With that, I hung up.
Even though I was reluctant, I still hung up the phone.
This might be the last time I ever spoke to Shichui. The happiness I had once tried to grasp slipped away easily.
The atmosphere at the concert moved me to tears.
290,000 fans, all screaming and cheering for Shichui.
Such a spectacular crowd of fans could only belong to Shichui. The screams of the fans behind me were like waves of heat, burying the ordinary me. Standing among them, I was just like them, nothing special.
I was one of Shichui’s fans too. I came to Japan just to stand here and listen to Shichui sing.
The fans’ enthusiasm made me proud of Shichui. I truly felt that no artist could have such a passionate fanbase like Shichui.
I probably screamed louder than anyone else. I was waiting for his appearance.
“Shichui Mingyan! Shichui Mingyan!”
The fans’ chants grew louder and louder. All the fans looked at him with worshipful eyes. Some female fans couldn’t control their emotions, crying, screaming, even fainting.
Everywhere were glow sticks, LED signs, and huge posters of Shichui.
Yes, Shichui’s popularity was so high. How could he announce his retirement from the entertainment industry because of me? Shichui, you must do your best!
I was moved to tears several times by the fans’ passion.
When Shichui finally appeared on stage, lifted by an elevator, the crowd’s emotions exploded instantly, reaching a fever pitch.
Shichui’s elegant black suit perfectly complemented his tall, slender figure. His fair neck and prominent collarbones peeked out from his half-open shirt. He wore a black top hat, the brim low as usual, but just seeing his beautiful lips singing naturally made the fans almost suffocate with excitement. His chestnut hair swayed with his dance moves. Every move he made on stage elicited screams from the fans. When he took off and threw his top hat, the crowd went wild again. The fans’ screams grew more intense with each passing moment. Shichui had the crowd in the palm of his hand.
His eyes, peeking out from under his hair, carried a proud smile. This Shichui, no matter where he was, no one could dim his brilliance.
290,000 fans sang along with Shichui. Every subtle expression of his was etched in the fans’ eyes. In their pupils, there was only Shichui-his movements, expressions, voice, his innocence and maturity, his pride and warmth…
The atmosphere reached its peak just as the concert started. The synchronized singing, shouting, and screaming… Every fan’s heart was connected with Shichui’s. Until the first song ended.
After the first song, Shichui left the stage, but the fans couldn’t calm down. They kept chanting his name, waiting for his return.
“This is the best solo performance I’ve ever seen. Let’s cheer for our beloved Shichui together,” a girl next to me said.
I nodded vigorously and took her hand.
Though we were strangers, we shared a heartfelt support for Shichui. Shichui Mingyan made all the strangers who loved him become close friends.
Suddenly, all the lights went out, plunging the venue into darkness. The fans’ chants briefly subsided. A few seconds later, with the explosion of fireworks, the lights focused on Shichui at the center of the stage. This time, he wore a dazzling white outfit. The fans’ cheers grew even more intense, echoing long and loud above the crowd, and then everyone started shouting Shichui’s name again.
“Mingyan! Mingyan! Mingyan!…”
Tears unknowingly streamed down my face. I liked him so much that just seeing him made me want to cry. Watching the radiant Shichui on stage, my emotions almost completely unraveled. Like the other fans, I shouted his name loudly, cheering for him madly. Shichui should always be this Shichui.
After the dance performance, he took off the white outfit. The fans went wild again. Now, Shichui was just wearing a simple white shirt and ripped jeans, looking like an ordinary guy. The dancers all left the stage. The music stopped. With a gesture, the entire crowd of 290,000 fans fell silent, holding their breath, waiting for the next brilliant performance. 290,000 people waited quietly for his clear, perfect voice to fill the air again.
He picked up a uniquely designed, transparent guitar and stood in front of the microphone.
“This song was written a long time ago. For her. I’ve never performed it publicly before. Today is the first time. I hope… she… is always happy.”
He didn’t say much more. Then the music started.
His heavenly, moving voice surrounded every fan. His pure voice, just out of his lips, made everyone scream again. But soon, the brief, boiling wave of excitement in the stadium subsided with his singing. Everyone was immersed in his voice, unwilling to let their shouts interrupt his heartfelt performance. All the fans listened intently to every note. Shichui sang with deep emotion, beautifully and tearfully. My tears flowed uncontrollably down my cheeks. I was so moved that I wanted to be held tightly by him.
Suddenly, I was reluctant to give up on him.
On the big screen, Shichui’s face, with slightly furrowed brows, trying to control his emotions, appeared again. No matter how self-centered or willful he was, he always maintained his strength.
Maybe words are useless
And maybe they will make you cry
But my unchanging heart wants to protect you
Yes, Two of us Yes, We can fall in love
Born on this brilliant planet, we met here
Yes, I can’t explain it well, but
Yes, I love you, it’s not a lie
With such a song and such a heartfelt performance, every fan was moved. Everyone listened intently to his singing.
Yes, Shichui had the power to make me feel like crying just by seeing him. Always. His sincere performance was as pure as a child. Only such a heartfelt performance deserved a record of 290,000 fans attending a single concert.
I silently thanked every fan of Shichui. Looking at the faces around me, I silently thanked and blessed each one.
“I sincerely thank everyone for supporting Shichui, and I hope you will always support him, support the perfect Shichui Mingyan. Please never leave the childlike Shichui Mingyan.” My heart said.
Shichui Mingyan. Goodbye.
I looked intently at him performing, then left the concert. This would be the last time I saw the real him in front of me.
Shichui Mingyan belonged to everyone, not just me.
Thank you, Shichui. Fate and freedom, aren’t we all only chosen by fate?
