Please Dote on Me - Chapter 47 - The Honey We Swallowed Down 2
He probably wasn’t lying, as his voice was already slurred. I wiped the sweat from my forehead and glanced at Yang Jiexi. His mouth was indeed swollen and red.
“I’m so, so sorry,” I stammered apologetically.
I couldn’t imagine what this guy, so obsessed with his looks, would do if he saw his mouth like this because of me. I wanted to confiscate all the mirrors in the world…
“N-No, it’s not swollen. It’s just a little red. You look, you look really handsome,” I said those insincere words with trepidation.
“Woo woo… But it hurts a lot,” Yang Jiexi pouted innocently.
The continuous shocks and pain left Yang Jiexi in a daze. I felt the same way. How could I accept such dramatic scenes all at once?
“Qi Yang. Just now, was that about you? Shichui Mingyan said Qi Yang was you.”
“How could it be me? Idiot! Don’t talk nonsense!” I raised my voice suddenly out of nervousness.
“What are you doing? Why are you shouting again? You scared me! You scared me!” Yang Jiexi’s fragile nerves couldn’t take the high volume, and he murmured, nearly in tears.
“It’s… it’s nothing. I’m sorry.”
After that, we fell silent and returned to the guesthouse.
Before we even stepped inside, I spotted Shichui’s car.
I remembered, that was his car.
Ignoring my shock and Yang Jiexi, I ran towards his car, looking around nervously. I sat inside and quickly shut the door. This sneaky behavior really wasn’t like me. But who knew where the paparazzi might be hiding? The worst part was that Shichui never cared about the paparazzi’s pursuit.
With a mischievous smile, he started the car as if he already knew I would get in.
Looking back at Yang Jiexi, he stood there innocently and confused, unable to utter a single word to call out to me. How cruel.
…
“Are you trying to ruin yourself? Hundreds, even thousands of reporters are watching you. Are you happy now? Tomorrow’s entertainment news headline will definitely be ‘Shichui Mingyan Confesses in Chinese.’ If not, it’ll be ‘Shichui Mingyan Drives Late Night from Guesthouse to Pick Up Unknown Woman.’ What a big deal, and you’re making this guesthouse famous! Why do you have to make it such a big deal? Stop the car! I want to get out!”
After finishing my series of reproachful comments, my face suddenly flushed. When did I become so natural at talking to Shichui again?
“Uh… I didn’t mean…”
Just moments after feeling righteous, I reverted back to a timid version of a standard Shichui fan.
“Go on, this is the real Qi Yang,” Shichui grinned that infuriating grin.
“Liking you is such an annoying feeling. Why do I even like someone like you? It’s infuriating! But I just can’t stop liking you. When you like someone, you want to do everything with them-study together, skip class together, whatever it is, you want to do it together. So what are we going to do from now on? Are we going to study hard together or skip class until we get warned by the school? You decide. I’ll dare to do anything with you.”
After I finished this speech, I froze up. What on earth was I saying? I couldn’t understand my own words. Saying such nonsense in this moment completely disconnected from reality had my nerves utterly scrambled.
Shichui seemed just as stunned as I was.
“Don’t you want to play pretend anymore, Qi Yang?” Shichui genuinely laughed, surprise and joy etched on his face, his expression wonderfully complex. His smile brightened significantly.
How could someone look so good even when laughing strangely? The shape of his lips and the angle at which they turned upwards were perfect!
Why was my mind occupied with useless thoughts at this moment? I shouldn’t look at his face if I wanted to keep my head clear. At that moment, I found myself unable to say anything. My brain was a complete jumble.
It’s always been this way: the more beautiful something is, the less you want to possess it. No banquet lasts forever, so I won’t attend.
As my brow furrowed, tears threatened to choke me.
After a brief moment of calm, I realized I should ask him where he was taking me.
“Where are you taking me? Hurry up and stop the car, stop!”
“I’m taking you to my house.” He replied naturally, making it sound like it was only natural for me to go to his house.
His phone rang, and the ringtone was actually one of his own songs.
What a narcissist. Yet he merely glanced at the phone and then set it back down, showing no intention of answering it.
The phone continued ringing incessantly.
“Come on, answer it; it’s so noisy!” I seemed to expose my anxiety in front of Shichui.
He completely ignored it.
“Hurry up and answer, there must be something urgent for them to call you so much.”
He disdainfully shut the phone off.
See? Stars always act so entitled! As long as I don’t look at his face, he’s no different from other male stars-just so arrogant! I absolutely wouldn’t crush on someone like him. Was I lying to myself?
“Why did you mysteriously disappear? Why did you change all your contact information? Why did you even move?”
This guy was starting to ask me those questions, the very questions that had made me feel like I was dying inside. Tears finally spilled uncontrollably down my face…
When I looked at him with my tear-streaked face, he seemed to start panicking.
