Irresistibly Drawn (Love After Marriage) - Chapter 6 - Tomorrow Night
She closed her eyes, ready to scream, but the chance was taken away from her.
Instead of falling, she felt a soft warmth.
“Did you twist your ankle?”
A deep voice echoed above her. She opened her eyes, her eyelashes trembling, and saw the man’s clear and handsome face. Close up, he was still strikingly handsome, even magnified countless times.
“No, I didn’t.”
“What’s wrong?”
Hearing her mother’s voice, Jiang Qingyu’s heart jumped, and her mind went blank.
Jiang Hua pushed open the door and was startled by the scene before her.
Under the broad daylight, a young man and woman embraced each other, her daughter securely in the man’s arms-a tall and handsome man and a petite, delicate woman.
It was a good match, indeed.
“Mom!”
The little person in his arms was terrified, her cheeks as red as if scorched by fire, just those two patches of redness were enough to compensate for the sunset.
The pose was too ambiguous. How could she explain to her own mother that this was all an accident? Would she believe it?
Jiang Qingyu pushed Gu Yunyi away and ran into the house, slamming the door shut with a “thud.”
“Yunyi, what is this?”
Things are progressing so quickly? Although Old Master Gu had thoughts of having them married this summer, it had only been a few days, and they were already hugging and kissing. Jiang Hua was indeed struggling to accept this.
Gu Yunyi dusted himself off, unlike the flustered Jiang Qingyu.
“There was water on the ground, Qingyu almost slipped.”
His calm demeanor made Jiang Hua feel sordid.
Gu Yunyi adjusted his cuffs and walked towards the house. The door to Jiang Qingyu’s room was tightly shut, and no sound came from inside. According to her personality, she was probably in bed, covering herself with a blanket, her face as red as if it had been roasted for half an hour.
The man smiled slightly and knocked on the door.
“Knock, knock.”
“Clang-”
Following the door noise, something inside fell, followed by a small, quickly stifled gasp from the girl.
His smile grew wider as he stood quietly at the door, waiting. A few minutes later, the little ostrich finally emerged from the room with her hair in a slight disarray.
“Gu-Ge.”
Jiang Qingyu lowered her head, the real reason she ran wasn’t just Jiang Hua’s sudden entrance, but also the overwhelming nervousness when facing him.
It felt as if her heart was being fiercely twisted.
“May I come in?”
Jiang Qingyu nodded, rubbing her heated face, and stepped aside to let him in.
This wasn’t the first time Gu Yunyi had entered her room. The clean room displayed her fondness for pink and dolls, with soft-colored dolls visible everywhere.
Noting her preferences one by one, Gu Yunyi’s gaze finally rested on the desk.
“Did you draw this?”
There were several sketches, with a blurred pencil signature at the bottom right corner.
She had left them there last night and forgotten to put them away.
Instinctively feeling that these drafts should not be seen, Jiang Qingyu hurriedly took them and hid them behind her back.
“Yeah, just doodling.”
Gu Yunyi raised an eyebrow but didn’t probe further, remembering the blurred signature.
That evening, Jiang Hua chased Jiang Qingyu out of the kitchen, wanting to help.
The rain had stopped at some unknown time, the ground was wet, nourishing the growing moss.
Jiang Qingyu’s phone rang, unheard as she was in the bathroom. The phone lay on the bed, and sitting in the living room, Gu Yunyi watched the flashing light sink into the softness, then went over to pick up the phone.
His thumb swiped the screen, but the ring stopped just then.
“Qingyu.”
Jiang Qingyu came out, drying her hair.
“Your phone was ringing for a long time.”
The girl took the phone and checked the record-it was a high school classmate.
Then the door closed, followed by the girl’s laughter inside. Gu Yunyi also smiled and took a deep breath.
Jiang Hua went to bed early, and Gu Yunyi also returned to his room early, opening his computer and typing two characters into the search page, which brought up numerous manga screenshots.
It turned out Jiang Qingyu also drew manga, but this seemed to be another secret of hers, one he was not yet privileged enough to share. In other words, he was still just a gentle big brother, not someone she trusted deeply enough.
Thinking this, the man’s gaze darkened slightly, but was soon drawn away by footsteps outside.
“Gu-Ge?”
Jiang Qingyu was drinking water, her cherry lips naturally tender, becoming even more attractive after being moistened.
He unconsciously swallowed his saliva, but the passing car lights snapped him out of it.
“Hmm, not sleeping yet?”
He casually said something to suppress his dryness, which Jiang Qingyu did not notice.
“I’m meeting some high school friends for dinner tomorrow, I’ll be leaving to see them.”
“Alright, I’ll take you.”
Jiang Qingyu moved her lips, and Gu Yunyi knew she was about to say something about not troubling him.
But he didn’t want to hear it.
“I have nothing else planned, it’s a good opportunity to go out.”
Then the girl nodded along with him: “Then I’ll trouble you.”
“It’s no trouble.”
Jiang Hua, unusually sleepless that night, went out to the courtyard for some air and noticed a flickering light under the flower rack.
“Yunyi?”
“Uncle.”
Gu Yunyi extinguished his cigarette and threw it into the courtyard’s trash can. The damp air quickly extinguished the drifting smoke, blending into the grassy scent of the air, which was rather pleasant.
“Why aren’t you asleep?”
“I can’t sleep tonight.”
Her daughter was leaving, and she didn’t plan to have her come back. The next time they met might be when she was on her deathbed.
“Yunyi, the Jiang family is small; when my father was still alive, there were three of us, now it’s just the two of us. She has never lived in a large family.”
Gu Yunyi’s eyes flickered.
“Qingyu and I, along with her grandfather, never mind much about what we say or do. You’ve seen these past few days, she’s quite naive.”
“I’m entrusting her to you; don’t let others bully her.”
Jiang Hua was worried her daughter couldn’t handle those things and was about to speak.
“I won’t let that happen,” Gu Yunyi stood in front of Jiang Hua, “She just needs to be my wife, I’ll handle the rest.”
“Uncle Gu told me you are reliable, I trust him, and I trust you,” Jiang Hua looked towards her daughter’s room.
“But when do you plan to tell Qingyu?”
The man turned his head and looked with her at the window emitting a faint light.
“Tomorrow night.”
