No Girl Can Walk Away Smiling After Checking Her Boyfriend's Phone - Chapter 6
I broke up with Jiang Ling.
As I was pulling the zipper of my suitcase, Jiang Ling suddenly grabbed my wrist.
“Chen Nan, are you really leaving?”
I was forced to look up at him.
I used to love the way Jiang Ling looked at me, gentle and delicate, with a focus that enveloped his entire being.
In my sophomore year, I had planned a trip to Dali with my roommate, who canceled at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances.
Since I had already bought the plane tickets and planned the itinerary, I decided to go alone.
On the second day in Dali, I went hiking.
As the faint glow of dawn spilled through the misty mountains, I saw a familiar face.
It was Jiang Ling.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in Beijing for the competition?” I asked him, pleasantly surprised.
Jiang Ling rubbed his hands together, took off the scarf from his neck, and wrapped it around me.
His face and ears were flushed red from the cold, and his voice trembled slightly,
“I saw on your WeChat moments that you came to Dali alone to watch the sunrise, and I was worried, so I came back early.”
“I wanted to watch it with you.”
Jiang Ling gazed at me intently.
The pale golden sunlight reflected in his eyes, and a burning warmth spread through my heart.
After returning from Dali, our relationship became subtly different, and soon we were together.
But now, it seems to have changed.
Clearly, I haven’t changed; clearly, my heart and eyes are still only for him, but now when he looks at me, there’s only irritation and impatience.
Perhaps, he hasn’t even realized it himself.
“I’ll finish packing and move out tomorrow morning.”
Snapping back to reality, I avoided his gaze and withdrew my hand, “I’ll sleep in the guest room tonight.”
Around midnight, I finally finished packing and lay down on the bed, exhausted.
As soon as I turned on my phone, I saw a friend request: “I’m Zhou Xuan.”
After accepting, Zhou Xuan didn’t say anything, and on a whim, I opened her WeChat moments.
The latest post was just uploaded.
It included two photos.
The first was a selfie of her, with a steaming bowl of bone broth noodles on the table behind her.
The second was also a bowl of bone broth noodles, with a very familiar background.
The dining table had a diagonal checkered pattern, and there was a bouquet of vibrant roses on it.
The vase holding the roses was one Jiang Ling and I had bought together at the supermarket.
Zhou Xuan’s caption read, “Hahaha, having noodles with someone special! (This is a moments post visible only to that someone.)”
Below, Jiang Ling had liked the post.
