Mysterious Revival - Chapter 6 - The Hand in the Restroom
The door to the restroom creaked open, and a pale hand emerged from the darkness. Everyone was too terrified to make a sound, their hearts pounding wildly, as if frozen in fear.
At that moment, Yang Jian never expected that his classmate Fang Jing would suddenly go mad and push him toward the ghost.
“Fang Jing, are you trying to kill me?”
Yang Jian gritted his teeth, realizing something was wrong and immediately reacted, grabbing Fang Jing’s arm.
Their steps halted, and both of them froze.
“Yang Jian, if you don’t die, I can never be at peace. Did you think my earlier words were just casual talk? You’re still too naive. You knew I had made my intentions clear, yet you didn’t guard against me. But that’s within my expectations. After all, you’re just a clueless student who doesn’t yet understand the cruelty of this world. Today, I’ll teach you a lesson.”
Fang Jing turned his head and shouted, “Come and help! We must push him in to stall the ghost in the restroom. If that ghost gets out, we’re all doomed. If you want to live, one person has to be sacrificed. There’s no other way.”
Using the greater good as a justification proved effective. Under the threat of the ghost, and with a seemingly righteous reason, people would do anything to survive.
Immediately, three male classmates, their faces filled with terror, rushed over and grabbed Yang Jian.
The four of them pushed him with all their might. No one could have resisted such force.
Instantly, Yang Jian’s body was forced backward, and he was quickly pushed to the entrance of the restroom.
In the next moment, the pale hand that had emerged from the darkness reached out and gripped his shoulder. The fingers tightened, cold and rigid, clutching him with a deathly grip.
A terrifying force pulled Yang Jian into the pitch-black restroom behind him.
“Yang Jian, get in there! This time, you’re dead. Learn to be smarter in your next life,” Fang Jing shouted, giving him a hard shove.
Yang Jian was filled with rage. He could already feel his entire shoulder going numb, as if it had been crushed by that cold, pale hand. At the same time, a bone-chilling cold enveloped his entire body, and it felt as if his blood was freezing.
“You scumbags! We’re classmates, and you want to kill me? If that’s the case, then you won’t get off easy either. If I’m going to die, I’ll take a few of you with me.”
With that, he stopped resisting and tightly grabbed the arms of two classmates.
The terrifying force from behind continued to drag them forward.
Fang Jing, realizing something was wrong, quickly stepped back, avoiding Yang Jian’s grasp.
“No, no! Let me go, Yang Jian! Let me go!”
“Please, I don’t want to die! Let me go, grab someone else!”
The two classmates who were grabbed by Yang Jian were terrified, begging for mercy with tears in their voices.
Yang Jian, now convinced that his death was imminent, felt less fear. Surrounded by darkness, he spoke coldly, “Stop crying. Since you wanted to kill me, I’ll make sure you die with me. Fang Jing, don’t think you’ve won. If I die and become a ghost, I’ll come after you…”
BANG!
With a loud noise, the pale arm retracted into the darkness, and the restroom door slammed shut instantly.
Yang Jian and the two classmates who had betrayed him vanished before everyone’s eyes.
The door remained tightly closed, and there was no further movement.
Seeing this, Fang Jing finally let out a sigh of relief, a forced smile appearing on his shaken face.
“Yang Jian, you’re finally finished.”
“Fang Jing, you… you really killed Yang Jian and the others…” someone nearby stammered, trembling as they witnessed the scene.
Fang Jing’s face twisted into a grimace. “Shut up! If it weren’t for me, that ghost would’ve come out and killed us all. What are you standing around for? If you want to live, follow me. Those three won’t hold it off for long. Once the ghost kills them, it’ll come out again, and then it’ll be our turn to die.”
Without another word, he turned and started heading back the way they came.
“Fang Jing, why are we going back?”
“Going further down is a dead end. Who knows what else we’ll run into? If we go back, we might run into Zhou Zheng. If he’s still alive, maybe he can save us,” Fang Jing said, though he himself was filled with terror.
In the ghost domain, the more people died, the more terrifying it became. They didn’t have much time left to escape.
Cold, darkness, and the faint drip, drip of water, like a faucet that wasn’t fully closed, surrounded them.
Yang Jian and the two classmates had been dragged into this pitch-black restroom by that pale hand.
“Get out! Let’s get out of here!”
Duan Peng and Zheng Fei broke free from Yang Jian, panic-stricken, and began frantically feeling along the walls, trying to find the door and escape.
The icy walls were rough and uneven, with a faint smell of decay.
The restroom wasn’t large-under normal circumstances, even with their eyes closed, they should’ve been able to find the door quickly. But no matter where they groped, all they found were walls.
To the left, a wall. To the right, another wall… an endless barrier stretched before them.
The door was gone.
“The door… where’s the door? It was just here! Zheng Fei, have you found it?” Duan Peng’s voice trembled, on the verge of tears.
“It’s not here either,” Zheng Fei replied, his voice filled with fear.
They frantically groped along the walls, their hands searching every inch, desperate to find the familiar restroom door.
But no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t find it. All they felt was the same cold, rough wall.
It was as if the door had never existed in the first place.
While they were desperately searching for a way out, Yang Jian’s situation was even worse.
He could feel the icy grip of that pale hand on his shoulder. At first, it was just his shoulder that had gone numb, but now his entire arm had lost sensation. As time passed, the numbness was spreading further across his body. If it reached his entire body, Yang Jian was certain he’d become a cold, lifeless corpse.
Sweat poured down his face as he struggled with all his might to break free.
But it was no use. The grip on his shoulder was like an iron nail, immovable.
No matter how he twisted or pulled, nothing worked.
“Am I really going to die here?” That was the only thought running through his mind.
Finally, perhaps resigned to his fate, the fear left him. All he could think about was calling his family one last time to leave a final message.
With a bitter smile, Yang Jian fought through the numbness and chill gripping his body. He fumbled for his phone, trying to call his family.
But when he turned on his phone, the screen flickered, and instead of the dialer, it displayed the Forum story he had been reading earlier.
The story was now on its last page.
There was an audio file posted on the Forum.
Yang Jian froze for a moment when he saw it. Suddenly, he remembered the sound of the old man knocking on the classroom door earlier.
“Wait… if that old man really killed people through the sound of knocking, then that sound shouldn’t just affect people-it should affect ghosts too. Zhou Zheng said it himself: only ghosts can deal with ghosts.”
At that thought, his eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope.
Without hesitation, Yang Jian used his other arm-the one that still had some movement-and tapped on the audio file.
Knock, knock, knock…
The heavy knocking sound echoed through the darkness.
But something unexpected happened.
The pale hand gripping Yang Jian’s shoulder suddenly recoiled, as if burned, and swiftly retreated into the darkness.
The icy, stiff sensation quickly faded from his body.
