My Sister Is Acting Strange - Chapter 50 - I... I'm His Girlfriend
Tang Huaijin casually changed into a different outfit. It wasn’t long before his phone rang with a familiar tone. After exchanging a few playful jabs with Xia Xinya, who sounded impatient on the other end, he headed downstairs and left the apartment complex.
This time, Tang Huaijin didn’t take the back seat. Seeing the front passenger seat was empty, he slid into it.
Bai Yuerou’s makeup was particularly exquisite today. She greeted Tang Huaijin with a gentle smile as he got in, while Xia Xinya gave him a once-over, slightly frowning as if his outfit didn’t quite meet her standards.
“Wow, Yuerou, you’re looking even more beautiful today,” Tang Huaijin teased with a grin.
Bai Yuerou, knowing it was just friendly banter, responded with a modest smile and said softly, “Thank you, Jin.”
Xia Xinya, however, pouted, displeased that Tang Huaijin hadn’t even glanced her way. “What’s with your outfit? You look like a beggar.”
“What are you talking about? What’s wrong with your taste? My sister picked this out for me,” Tang Huaijin retorted, annoyed. The clothes might not be from a high-end brand, but they were bought with his sister’s hard-earned money and were stylishly casual.
“Who said it wasn’t well-matched?” Xia Xinya stammered, flustered upon hearing Tang Yaoyao had chosen the outfit. “It’s just too cheap. My friends shouldn’t wear stuff from bargain bins.”
Seeing her clueless attitude, Tang Huaijin rolled his eyes and said, “Not everyone can buy whatever they want like you.”
Xia Xinya asked curiously, “Is your family poor?”
Hearing such a blunt question made Tang Huaijin grit his teeth in frustration.
Bai Yuerou gently tugged on Xia Xinya’s arm, giving her a reproachful look, and whispered, “Didn’t I tell you before? Jin’s family is just him and his sister, so things are a bit tight.”
Xia Xinya nodded, finally understanding. She had never really grasped the concept of financial struggle. Seeing Tang Huaijin’s displeased expression, she stubbornly declared, “Even so, my friends shouldn’t dress shabbily. Let’s go, I’ll buy you some clothes.”
“You just want to shop, don’t you? You didn’t mention anything about shopping on the phone,” Tang Huaijin smirked.
Caught red-handed, Xia Xinya’s cheeks flushed slightly. Embarrassed and annoyed, she snapped, “Who said I wanted to shop? Let’s head straight to the men’s store.”
“Great, I’ll pick the most expensive ones,” Tang Huaijin wasn’t one to stand on ceremony. He didn’t mind taking advantage of a wealthy friend.
“Hmph.” Seeing Tang Huaijin’s smug expression, Xia Xinya felt a bit annoyed, realizing she had been tricked. But having already made the offer, she couldn’t back down, so she just huffed and pouted, sulking quietly. Bai Yuerou couldn’t help but cover her mouth to stifle a laugh at the scene.
The Bentley quickly arrived at the destination, a rather upscale shopping mall. Judging by how familiar the two girls seemed, they must frequent this place often.
Upon entering, Xia Xinya led the two straight to a store, clearly with a purpose in mind, probably scheming something against him again.
Sure enough, as Tang Huaijin caught sight of the gleaming golden eagle logo on the clothes, his eyelid twitched. This brand…
Xia Xinya’s taste was indeed similar to his, and seeing his unusual expression, she became delighted.
She was the first to step into the store, casually picking up a T-shirt emblazoned with a large golden eagle print, pretending to scrutinize it while asking, “Tang Huaijin, come and see if this suits you.”
The sales assistant quickly approached, noticing Tang Huaijin’s outfit wasn’t branded but was clean and simple, giving off a youthful vibe. She thought he didn’t quite match the flashy style of the golden eagle.
However, as a store employee, she couldn’t refuse a customer, so she cheerfully said, “Miss, you have a great eye. This is our store’s latest model, one of the best-selling designs in recent years. Would this handsome gentleman like to try it on?”
Even Bai Yuerou was pressing her lips together, barely holding back laughter, watching Tang Huaijin remain silent without coming to his rescue.
Since he probably wouldn’t visit this store again, Tang Huaijin awkwardly chuckled and said, “Well… I think I’ll pass. I’m not really into this style.”
After speaking, he glanced behind him as if he had discovered something, and with an excited expression, he walked away from the store, saying, “This place looks good.”
Seeing him act so nonchalantly, Xia Xinya had no choice but to pout in dissatisfaction, pulling Bai Yuerou, who was apologizing to the sales assistant with a smile, out of the store to catch up with Tang Huaijin, who had already walked quite a distance.
Hearing the pattering footsteps behind him, Tang Huaijin turned around and playfully reached out as if to flick Xia Xinya’s forehead, causing her to quickly cover her head and hide behind Bai Yuerou, glaring at him fiercely.
Bai Yuerou then walked over to Tang Huaijin’s side, softly saying, “Let me pick something for you. I know a men’s store that’s quite nice.”
“Actually, I’m not really short on clothes. You two go ahead and shop; I’ll accompany you for a while,” Tang Huaijin replied with a helpless smile.
“Shall we hurry then?” Xia Xinya, hearing this, immediately shook Bai Yuerou’s hand excitedly, saying, “The rascal said so, let’s not bother with him, let’s go!”
Bai Yuerou looked at Tang Huaijin with a mix of amusement and helplessness before being pulled by Xia Xinya into a women’s clothing store.
After following the two girls through several stores, they arrived at a well-decorated shop. Spotting the empty sofa inside, Tang Huaijin was overjoyed and plopped down onto it.
Those who haven’t accompanied girls shopping don’t know how blissful it is to find a sofa in a women’s clothing store.
As Tang Huaijin comfortably settled onto the sofa, Xia Xinya also sat down, contentedly squinting her eyes.
Tang Huaijin asked in confusion, “Aren’t you going to pick something?” Although Xia Xinya had been looking at clothes all along, she hadn’t tried any on, always selecting them for Bai Yuerou to try.
“These new styles don’t appeal to me, and I already have the old ones I like,” Xia Xinya replied casually. Her taste was quite discerning, and this outing was mainly to accompany Rou in buying clothes.
Tang Huaijin nodded silently, not saying anything, realizing that wealth indeed brings a certain boldness.
Bai Yuerou greeted the two and took a few pieces of clothing to the fitting room.
Seeing Tang Huaijin and Xia Xinya sitting quite a distance apart, a pretty girl who seemed to be shopping with her best friend noticed them and walked over, taking a seat next to Tang Huaijin. She asked, “Hey handsome guy, is she your girlfriend?”
Before Tang Huaijin could respond, Xia Xinya quickly interjected, “No!” She then gave Tang Huaijin a mock disdainful glance.
“Really? Then would you like to exchange contact info?” The girl asked with a playful smile, holding out her phone.
“Sure,” Tang Huaijin replied casually, having encountered such situations often. He chuckled lightly and showed his QR code.
Seeing Tang Huaijin not refuse, Xia Xinya’s brows furrowed immediately. This rascal, she thought, he’s out with us and still acting so flirtatious.
She glanced at the happy-looking girl and said with some irritation, “You rascal, you can’t add her.”
Tang Huaijin looked at the girl, whose expression had turned slightly awkward, and asked Xia Xinya with amusement, “It’s just adding on WeChat, why the big reaction?”
The girl’s awkward expression eased upon observing Tang Huaijin’s reaction, and she asked with a pout, “Handsome guy, who is she to you? She’s so fierce.”
Ugh, what a drama queen.
Tang Huaijin remained unfazed, smiling lightly, “She’s my friend, not the best with her temper.”
“Oh… I thought she was your girlfriend. When I asked earlier, you said she wasn’t,” the girl said sweetly. “If she’s not your girlfriend, why does she control you so much? I wouldn’t do that.”
Xia Xinya was so infuriated by this green tea sister that her face turned red, but she didn’t know what to say. Seeing Bai Yuerou approaching in a new outfit, her eyes lit up, and she exclaimed, “That’s his girlfriend, just wait.”
She then ran over to Bai Yuerou, whispering complaints while pointing at the two on the sofa.
After a few words, Xia Xinya dragged the blushing Bai Yuerou over, triumphantly addressing the girl, “Aren’t you going to leave?”
The girl looked at them suspiciously and asked Bai Yuerou, “Are you his girlfriend?”
Bai Yuerou’s face was flushed, but she nodded and softly said, “Yes, could you please leave my boyfriend?”
Seeing Bai Yuerou say this and noticing Tang Huaijin’s slightly surprised but non-denying expression, the girl stood up, bid farewell to Tang Huaijin, and left. Before leaving, she turned back and waved her phone at Tang Huaijin with a smile.
Once the girl left, Bai Yuerou covered her reddened face with one hand and complained to Xia Xinya, “You troublemaker, what are you up to?”
Then, she looked apologetically at Tang Huaijin and said, “Xinya said you were stuck and couldn’t get away, so she asked me to pretend to be your girlfriend.” Clever as she was, she had already figured out the situation from Tang Huaijin’s reaction.
Xia Xinya laughed triumphantly and teased, “Out with two beauties like us and still flirting around, he wishes, that rascal.”
Tang Huaijin rolled his eyes at Xia Xinya, speechless, “You make it sound like I did something wrong.”
It seemed Tang Huaijin wanted to change the subject. He glanced up and down at Bai Yuerou, who had changed into a new outfit. She wore a beige knitted cardigan paired with slim-fit jeans, her hair casually draped over her shoulders. Her face was flushed with shyness, adding to her gentle and charming appearance.
He complimented her, “This outfit looks great on you. Your gentle demeanor really suits the beige color.”
Bai Yuerou, with her thin skin, blushed again upon hearing his words and softly replied, “Thank you, Jin.”
Xia Xinya nodded approvingly and took out a card from her bag, handing it to the sales assistant to settle the bill.
The group continued shopping for a while longer, during which Bai Yuerou insisted on Tang Huaijin trying on several outfits, eventually buying him a coat.
The coat was from Burberry, made of fine material and quite expensive. Despite joking about spending lavishly without guilt, Tang Huaijin felt it was inappropriate and wanted to refuse.
However, Bai Yuerou adjusted his collar and smiled gently, “You’ve been shopping with us all day. You’ve earned it, even if just for the effort. Besides, this coat looks perfect on you. With your height, you’re made for wearing trench coats. Right, Xinya?”
Xia Xinya, unconcerned about the cost, glanced at Tang Huaijin, who looked even more refined and handsome in the coat, and a hint of satisfaction flashed in her eyes. “It’s okay, barely passable.”
Seeing their insistence, Tang Huaijin could only smile helplessly, “Alright, I’ll go pay then.” He still had fifty thousand yuan, so he could afford it.
But Xia Xinya casually handed her card to the sales assistant, her expression impatient, “I already said I’d buy it for you. Stop being annoying. Save your money for yourself.”
Then, as if adding an explanation, she awkwardly said, “If my friend dresses poorly and people talk about it, where would that leave my reputation?”
“Alright then.” Seeing her speak so insincerely, Tang Huaijin couldn’t help but laugh, a gentle warmth spreading in his heart.
After buying the clothes, it was still early, with about two hours until dinner. The three of them discussed plans, and Xia Xinya suggested going to see a movie.
The cinema was also in the mall.
“Sorry…” On the way to the cinema, Bai Yuerou suddenly spoke softly to Tang Huaijin, her expression somewhat complicated. “About that girl, I thought it was like Xinya said, that you were stuck.”
Tang Huaijin glanced at her, took out his phone, and showed it to her with a light chuckle, “I should thank you for being my shield.”
Seeing the word ‘refused’ in the WeChat friend list, Bai Yuerou smiled warmly, “That’s good then…”
