My Sister Is Acting Strange - Chapter 5 - Shopping for Clothes
After this weekend, it’s time to report to Rose Elite High School.
Tang Huaijin was feeling a bit troubled because Tang Yaoyao was rolling around on his bed.
The reason was that his sister wanted to take him shopping for clothes, while Tang Huaijin felt it was unnecessary.
“I have clothes, there’s no need to buy more.”
“No way, your clothes are obviously worn out!” Tang Yaoyao insisted.
“They’re not…” Tang Huaijin was always careful with his clothes.
“They are.” Tang Yaoyao crawled over, tugging at his sleeve, blinking her eyes pitifully, “Come on, come on, and I can pick out something for myself too.”
Ah, so that’s your real motive…
Since he was going to Rose Elite High School, with the tuition waived, the family could save on the semester’s fees, leaving some extra money.
His sister hadn’t bought new clothes in a while either.
Tang Huaijin thought for a moment and nodded, “Alright.”
“Yay, hooray!” Tang Yaoyao cheered, raising her hands with a sweet smile on her face.
Once his sister changed her clothes, the siblings headed to a shopping street.
Tang Yaoyao wore jeans, black ankle boots, a white sweater under a black coat draped at her waist, her hair cascading over her shoulders, adding a touch of elegance.
It was a classic ensemble, and classic doesn’t necessarily mean outdated; on his sister, it looked mature and sexy.
At that moment, Tang Huaijin’s hair was long and messy, making it hard for anyone to see them as siblings, rather like a flower on a pile of dung.
Tang Huaijin could feel the malicious gazes from passersby and tugged at his sister, who was engrossed in the nearby shops, “Can I get a haircut first, sister?”
Tang Yaoyao agreed readily.
Tang Huaijin’s hair didn’t need styling; it naturally had some waves, so a simple trim would do.
Once he was out of the salon, no one would think of him as a flower on dung anymore.
Tang Yaoyao stood at about 172 cm, while Tang Huaijin was 188 cm, a head taller than his sister, even impressive for the northern regions.
Years of part-time work and exercise had given him a straight, well-proportioned figure, without the common slouch of his peers. After the haircut, his whole demeanor was refreshed, with a handsome face, sharp eyebrows, bright eyes, and a straight nose, giving his features a slightly sharp look, softened by his almond-shaped eyes, adding a touch of elegance and warmth.
Even his sister was a bit mesmerized, murmuring, “I almost forgot how handsome my brother is…”
Tang Huaijin chuckled.
As they walked down the street, they attracted over ninety percent of the attention. Tang Huaijin seemed unfazed, but his sister was quite pleased, squinting with a smile, clearly in a good mood.
They turned into a store that caught his sister’s eye, warmly welcomed by the shopping guide.
After a while, his sister picked out a gray hoodie, casual pants, and a denim jacket for Tang Huaijin, calling the shopping guide over to give his precise measurements.
When Tang Huaijin emerged from the fitting room, the shopping guide’s eyes lit up, praising, “I must say, you look quite dashing. Your brother is indeed handsome.”
The guide was smart, complimenting the person rather than the clothes.
His sister seemed satisfied, nodding, but curiously asked, “How did you know we’re siblings?”
The guide laughed, “Those eyes of yours, they’re like they were carved from the same mold. Your family’s genes are something we can only envy.”
His sister said nothing, pulling out her card to pay, standing close to Tang Huaijin to adjust his collar, too close for him to see her expression.
“Not even real siblings, yet looking so alike, it’s annoying,” his sister said, her tone betraying no anger or sadness.
Tang Huaijin’s breath tightened, holding his sister’s hand, jokingly saying, “What can we do, can’t exactly ruin my face, can we?”
His sister laughed, taking the clothes and receipt from the shopping guide, then linked arms with Tang Huaijin, “Alright, now that we’ve got yours, it’s time to shop for mine.”
…
Three hours later…
Even though the street wasn’t that big, and they hadn’t walked much, Tang Huaijin felt exhausted, mentally drained.
It wasn’t the buying that wore him out, but the endless looking and trying, only to not buy.
Though his sister looked stunning in everything, eventually he experienced visual fatigue, unable to tell if she had changed outfits.
“Let’s go home, sister.”
His sister knew Tang Huaijin was at his limit, shaking her head with a hint of dissatisfaction, teasing, “Brother, you can’t be done so soon. Men shouldn’t be too short, you know.”
Faced with such a vicious slander, Tang Huaijin was powerless to fight back; he couldn’t exactly pull his pants down.
Tang Yaoyao laughed at his distressed expression.
“How about one last store?” his sister’s eyes sparkled as she looked at a shop.
Tang Huaijin glanced at the sign, swallowing, hesitantly saying, “A lingerie store?”
“If not this, then we’ll visit ten more.” His sister threatened.
“This one it is.” With that, Tang Huaijin led his sister inside.
It wasn’t too awkward; many couples were browsing, modern youth being quite open-minded.
Amidst the colorful array, Tang Huaijin felt indifferent, as if he could never be aroused by such things.
His sister wasn’t bold enough to have him choose, grabbing a few items and rushing to the fitting room.
Tang Huaijin was happy to relax, knowing his sister wouldn’t ask his opinion on this, finding a sofa to sit and browse his phone.
He was scrolling through his phone when someone tapped his shoulder-a woman with a pretty face and a decent figure, though her makeup was a bit heavy.
“Hey handsome, are you alone?”
Tang Huaijin glanced back, noticing a few women behind her watching him, likely observing him for a while.
Ah, being handsome is troublesome.
Before he could respond, Tang Yaoyao approached with some lingerie, smiling charmingly, “Honey, what do you think of these? I’ll wear them for you at home, okay?” She glanced disdainfully at the woman beside them.
Though he knew his sister was joking, Tang Huaijin’s heart still skipped a beat, smiling wryly, “Was that necessary?”
The woman who approached said nothing, awkwardly leaving.
Tang Yaoyao still looked displeased, pinching Tang Huaijin’s arm, her tone sour, “Why are they so annoying? It’s all your fault.”
“Yes, yes, my fault. So, shall we go home and check out the lingerie?” Tang Huaijin laughed.
“Ah, stop saying that.” Remembering her words, Tang Yaoyao’s face flushed, quickly packing the lingerie, no longer holding Tang Huaijin’s hand, walking out of the store on her own.
Tang Huaijin quickly followed, knowing his sister liked teasing him but was actually quite shy, only bold with her words, panicking when exposed.
…
They had dinner outside before returning home.
His sister changed into slippers, collapsing onto the sofa, unmoving.
Tang Huaijin put away their purchases, teasing, “Feeling tired now?”
“Mm…” Tang Yaoyao nodded, then suddenly sprang up, running to her room.
Tang Huaijin poured two glasses of water, sitting on the sofa to rest and browse his phone.
After a while, his sister returned in pajamas, slippers clacking as she ran over, lying beside Tang Huaijin, stretching out her long, straight legs, her feet resting on his thigh, lifting them, “Here.”
“What, you want me to eat them?” Tang Huaijin jokingly smacked his sister’s fair foot.
“Massage them for me, they’re so sore.” Tang Yaoyao wriggled.
“No way, they stink.”
“They don’t, I washed them, they’re fragrant. Smell.” Tang Yaoyao protested, lifting her foot for Tang Huaijin to smell, no girl would let such a vicious slander slide.
Tang Huaijin was merely retaliating against his sister, but his hands obediently began massaging her feet.
Ha, calling him short?
She probably hadn’t seen what it meant to reach for the stars and dive into the sea.
Since turning ten, Jin’s growing self-esteem had stopped him from letting his sister check his development.
The once small sapling had grown into a towering tree.
Tang Yaoyao squinted comfortably, turning on the TV to a comedy show, laughing occasionally.
Feeling thirsty, she was about to kick her brother to get water when she saw the glasses Tang Huaijin had just poured.
Giving him a look of approval, she picked up a glass, taking a sip, the temperature just right.
The comedy show was hilarious, and before she could swallow her water, she burst into laughter, spraying Tang Huaijin.
“Tang! Yaoyao!” Tang Huaijin shouted, wiping his face, reaching over to tickle his sister.
Tang Yaoyao quickly defended herself, still giggling.
Seeing her unrepentant, even laughing at him, Tang Huaijin broke free, swiftly poking her waist.
“Haha, it tickles.”
Tang Yaoyao’s waist was sensitive, giggling and squirming as he poked her.
“Will you dare again?” Tang Huaijin threatened, pinching her waist.
“No, no, Jin is amazing, spare your sister.” Tang Yaoyao pleaded softly, her face flushed.
The smooth feel under his hand made Tang Huaijin reluctant to let go, slowly rubbing, saying nothing.
The tingling sensation from Tang Huaijin’s warm hand made Tang Yaoyao’s eyes seem to glisten, biting her lip, unconsciously murmuring, “It tickles…”
Her voice was soft, slightly seductive, making Tang Huaijin’s lips dry, snapping back to reality, withdrawing his hand.
Tang Yaoyao’s face was flushed, quickly pulling her legs back, sitting up on the sofa.
The air was quiet, the atmosphere awkward.
Tang Yaoyao hugged her knees, her fair neck tinged with red, stammering, “You shamelessly took advantage of your sister.”
Tang Huaijin felt embarrassed too, his gaze shifting, “Wasn’t it you, making such…”
“Ah, ah, ah, stop talking, I’m going to bed.” Tang Yaoyao interrupted, hurriedly slipping on her slippers, rushing back to her room.
Her flustered demeanor eased Tang Huaijin’s embarrassment, making him want to laugh.
“Goodnight, sister.”
“Mm, mm, mm, goodnight, Jin.”
