My Sister Is Acting Strange - Chapter 45 - I Don't Want It
After the servant escorted Tang Huaijin out of the villa, Xia Yunzhu glanced up at the second floor, her expression complex as she sighed deeply.
Meanwhile, in Xia Xinya’s bedroom on the second floor, two small heads peeked out the window, watching the taillights of the Bentley gradually fade away down the road.
Xia Xinya nudged Bai Yuerou’s head lightly, a hint of dissatisfaction on her face. “Still watching? Your eyes are glued to it.”
Bai Yuerou blushed slightly, casting a playful glance at her best friend. “Weren’t you watching too?”
Xia Xinya sat on the bed, grumbling, “That’s different. That scoundrel Tang Huaijin seems to like you.”
“Don’t talk nonsense.” Bai Yuerou was embarrassed, pouting as she reached out to tickle her friend.
As her ticklish spots were attacked, Xia Xinya burst into laughter, trying to fend off the assault while stubbornly insisting, “How is it nonsense? Then why did he insist on sitting next to you?”
“You’re so annoying.” Bai Yuerou’s face turned crimson from the teasing, and she continued her tickling assault, not letting up.
The two of them playfully wrestled on the bed for a while, both ending up breathless and red-faced, lying side by side.
Suddenly, Xia Xinya felt a sense of déjà vu, as if she had seen this scene in a girls’ love story. At this moment, the domineering president heroine would gaze deeply into the eyes of the second female lead, time would stop, and the second lead’s heart would flutter wildly…
With this thought, she suddenly sat up, her gaze fixed determinedly on Bai Yuerou.
Bai Yuerou burst into laughter, pinching her nose playfully. “What are you doing, silly Xinya?”
Xia Xinya rolled her eyes, swatting away her friend’s hand, and collapsed back onto the bed like a deflated balloon.
How strange, there wasn’t even a hint of excitement…
What kind of girls’ love novels are these? They’re all lies.
…
When Tang Huaijin returned home, he found Tang Yaoyao already there, sitting on the sofa watching a variety show while waiting for him.
Seeing her brother come home, Tang Yaoyao pouted and decisively stretched out her arms for a hug.
Tang Huaijin chuckled, walked over, and gently embraced his sister, running his fingers through her hair. “What’s up?”
Tang Yaoyao snuggled against him for a while, then turned around, curling up in his arms like a kitten, playing with his large hand. “It’s that pesky Han Yaoyao. She insisted on showing your photo to everyone. I don’t even know when she secretly took it.”
Tang Huaijin was curious. “What photo?”
“The one she took last week when you were helping me edit my draft.” Tang Yaoyao pinched his fingers, which were much thicker than hers.
As she spoke, Tang Yaoyao seemed to remember something, burying her head in his collar and starting to sniff.
Tang Huaijin wasn’t worried. With so many women around earlier, how could his sister possibly discern…
Seeing her hold up three fingers, Tang Huaijin’s jaw dropped.
“Two strong, one faint,” Tang Yaoyao said, squinting at him with a scrutinizing gaze. “Come on, spill it. How did it happen?”
“At a gathering with classmates, you naturally move around. With so many people, it’s inevitable to bump into someone.” Tang Huaijin was relieved that his sister hadn’t pinpointed whose scent it was.
Tang Yaoyao seemed to believe him, pinching his cheek and then leaning in to kiss him lightly on the face. With a cheerful smile, she stood up and said, “It’s late, get some sleep, Jin.”
“Goodnight, sister.” Tang Huaijin touched the spot on his cheek where he’d been kissed, watching Tang Yaoyao’s light steps as she walked away, his gaze somewhat dazed.
Was this sibling affection, or was it the ambiguity shared with someone you like?
Returning to her room, Tang Yaoyao stood silently for a moment before walking to the window and opening it, her gaze lost in the distance.
The moon tonight was full and bright, its silvery light draping over Tang Yaoyao, cloaking her in a shimmering glow.
In the moonlight, she slowly raised her wrist, gently caressing the bracelet on her left wrist with her right hand.
Xia Xinya…
…
It seemed like Yaoyao had returned to her usual self before Aunt Li had seen her. Though still reserved, she no longer kept a deliberate distance from Tang Huaijin, occasionally even giving her brother a peck.
After a pleasant and leisurely Sunday, Tang Huaijin set off for school in high spirits.
This good mood was instantly shattered when he saw a ponytailed girl looking aggrieved.
Ugh, that damned familiar feeling.
An aunt was chattering incessantly at a young girl.
The girl sat in her seat, clutching the backpack beside her, looking thoroughly wronged, yet biting her lip stubbornly refusing to budge.
Seeing Tang Huaijin board the bus, the girl’s eyes lit up as she pointed at him, declaring, “Look, my boyfriend is here.”
All eyes on the bus instantly turned to him.
Even the driver raised an eyebrow, glancing at him through the rearview mirror.
Tang Huaijin: “…”
You really went and did it, didn’t you, Lin Ruoxi?
Tang Huaijin was utterly speechless, yet he couldn’t just stand by in this situation, or Lin Ruoxi would surely be scolded by the aunt all the way.
How did he not notice this girl’s relentless streak before?
He walked over to the aunt, who immediately felt like a mountain had appeared in front of her, coupled with Tang Huaijin’s dark expression, she was somewhat intimidated, muttered a few more words, and moved aside.
Tang Huaijin plopped down on the seat, shaking his head in frustration.
Was he aiding and abetting mischief?
“You still came over to sit, I knew it,” Lin Ruoxi chuckled, her face showing no trace of the earlier grievance. Seeing Tang Huaijin ignore her, she kept poking him.
Tang Huaijin, annoyed by her antics, glared at her, snapping, “Keep bothering me and I’ll find someone to switch seats.”
“You wouldn’t dare!” Lin Ruoxi glared back, but her hand withdrew in fear.
“You’re supposed to be a model student, a red-scarf girl, the flower of the nation, how can you do something so uncivilized?” Tang Huaijin complained helplessly.
At the mention of this, Lin Ruoxi felt a bit wronged, pouting angrily, “It’s all your fault. You said if I kept standing, you wouldn’t care about me. I don’t want to be jostled by the aunts.”
“Don’t you have a seat? Just sit down, won’t you?” Tang Huaijin felt a bit exasperated.
Lin Ruoxi blinked at Tang Huaijin, questioning, “What if the person next to me is a creepy uncle? Would you be okay with that?”
“…” Tang Huaijin was silent for a few seconds. He couldn’t deceive himself; the thought of such a scenario made him instantly uncomfortable, and he frowned, saying, “Couldn’t you find an aunt to sit with?”
“I don’t want that. I just want to be with you, whether it’s on the bus or elsewhere.” Lin Ruoxi reached out, grabbing Tang Huaijin’s arm, and stared into his eyes, speaking each word deliberately.
After finishing, Lin Ruoxi threatened, “If you don’t agree, I’ll keep doing this next time. I’ll tell everyone you’re my boyfriend until we run into someone we know.”
Hiss…
“…” Tang Huaijin felt a headache coming on, hesitated for a moment, then said, “If it’s just sitting on the bus, I can sit with you, but I have one condition: you can’t threaten me anymore.”
“Okay.” Lin Ruoxi agreed readily. She hadn’t planned on reconciling with Tang Huaijin right then and there; achieving this was already her goal, and her eyes showed a hint of sly satisfaction.
Tang Huaijin realized he might have been tricked, pouted in displeasure, turned away, and closed his eyes, pretending to nap, ignoring Lin Ruoxi.
After a while, Tang Huaijin actually drifted into a light sleep, but suddenly he felt a hand clasping his, fingers interlocked.
Tang Huaijin immediately opened his eyes, looking at Lin Ruoxi, who quickly withdrew her hand and pretended to gaze out the window as if nothing had happened.
“You…” Tang Huaijin wanted to get angry, pointed at Lin Ruoxi, but seeing her slightly aggrieved eyes, he bit his lip, unsure of what to say. After a moment, he managed to squeeze out, “Have you no shame…”
Lin Ruoxi’s face turned red, biting her lip, but then she defiantly glared at Tang Huaijin and shouted, “I don’t care anymore!”
With that, she reached for Tang Huaijin’s hand again, but he skillfully dodged. Undeterred, she gritted her teeth and said, “I only want you. As long as you don’t tell me the truth, I’ll keep pestering you.”
Tang Huaijin stared blankly at the girl making such a declaration, feeling his mind on the verge of exploding.
