My Roommate Lover - Chapter 7 - A Misunderstanding, Absolutely a Misunderstanding
Sometimes, the more you worry about something, the more likely it is to happen.
Jia Simiao hadn’t slept so soundly in a long time, but he was woken up by the urgent need to pee. He quickly got up and ran to the toilet. The ancestral house of Jia Family was a compound, and the toilet was outside. When he got there, he saw the door slightly ajar, indicating that no one was inside.
Desperate, he unbuckled his belt and pushed the door open.
“Ah!” A scream came from inside. Tang Ziyu was almost incoherent, “Get out, get out!”
Jia Simiao was so startled that he quickly shut the door and ran out. Standing under the grapevine trellis, his mind replayed the scene he had just witnessed: Tang Ziyu in a pink robe, her underwear down to her calves, squatting over the toilet, exposing a large portion of her fair, plump buttocks.
Shen Jun’ao and Zhang Xixi rushed out of their rooms in a panic. Shen Jun’ao pushed Jia Simiao against the wall and scolded, “What did you do? Do you want me to handcuff you?”
Jia Simiao was dumbfounded and protested innocently, “I… I didn’t do anything, I just…”
Shen Jun’ao snapped, “Stay right here and don’t move. You better hope you didn’t do anything.”
Zhang Xixi, standing on tiptoe, looked at the toilet in the distance and then at Jia Simiao, gloating, “You… you didn’t trap Ziyu in the toilet and do something to her, did you?”
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Shen Jun’ao knocked Zhang Xixi on the head twice and turned towards the toilet. She and Tang Ziyu came out, with Tang Ziyu looking pale and tears on her face. Jia Simiao’s heart sank; this was serious trouble.
With such an incident, could he still stay here? He had only a hundred yuan in his pocket, finding a place to stay was out of the question. But it wasn’t really his fault, was it? With so many people living here, shouldn’t she have locked the door from the inside?
Sure, knocking before entering was a rule, but the door was open. Who knocks on an open door? That would be ridiculous.
Zhang Xixi, with a mischievous grin, said, “Jia Simiao, you better pray that Jun’ao doesn’t kick you out.”
Jia Simiao smiled bitterly, “The door was open. How was I supposed to know Tang Ziyu was inside? I…”
Zhang Xixi said, “Explaining to me is useless. I do have an idea, though. When Jun’ao asks, just say…”
“What idea?”
“Say that Ziyu seduced you…”
“Don’t make things worse! If I leave, it’s fine, but our big plan can’t be carried out.”
“Right.”
Zhang Xixi finally remembered that if Jia Simiao left, who would do business with her? She told Jia Simiao to wait while she went to gather some information.
After a while, Shen Jun’ao came out, looking displeased but also a bit helpless. She asked, “Jia Simiao, what do you think we should do about this?”
Jia Simiao smiled bitterly, “Jun’ao, you know this isn’t my fault…”
Shen Jun’ao raised an eyebrow, “Not your fault? Then whose fault is it? We agreed that you should knock before entering the toilet. Did you forget? You were in the wrong first. You need to give Ziyu an explanation.”
Seeing Jia Simiao’s innocent expression, Shen Jun’ao sighed, “I know what you’re thinking. The door was open, so you didn’t knock? Remember, from now on, even if the door is open, you have to knock.”
Was this a draconian rule? However, her mention of “from now on” gave Jia Simiao a glimmer of hope. It meant he wouldn’t be kicked out. He quickly said, “Yes, yes, I’ll knock from now on, whether the door is open or closed. How is Tang Ziyu? Is she okay?”
“What do you think? A girl almost exposed herself to you. Do you think she’s okay?”
Actually, anyone could see that Shen Jun’ao was making a big deal out of nothing. The truth was, Jia Simiao hadn’t seen anything inappropriate, nor had he intended to. It was just a coincidence. Women care about their dignity, so since she didn’t bring it up, Jia Simiao decided to play along.
Jia Simiao pretended to be anxious, rubbing his hands and muttering, “This is really hard to handle. Maybe I should strip and let her see…”
“Get out of here! You can’t say anything serious for three sentences.”
Shen Jun’ao couldn’t help but laugh, then quickly composed herself, “I know this isn’t entirely your fault, but Ziyu is a girl. This house was originally our domain, and suddenly having a man here takes some getting used to. Kicking you out over this would be too much, but you must apologize to Ziyu.”
A real man knows when to bend and when to stand tall. Apologizing was the right thing to do.
Jia Simiao said, “Alright, I’ll apologize to her. As long as she doesn’t hold a grudge.”
“Wait here, I’ll call Ziyu over. Remember to speak nicely and take all the blame, understand?” Jia Simiao knew Shen Jun’ao was looking out for him. After all, they would be living together, and it wouldn’t be good to have tension.
Tang Ziyu came out with Zhang Xixi. As soon as they came out, Zhang Xixi started winking at Jia Simiao and scolded, “Jia Simiao, what’s wrong with you? If you wanted to peek at Ziyu in the toilet, you didn’t need such an excuse. You could have just hidden and peeked…”
What was that supposed to mean? Jia Simiao wanted her to help, not make things worse. He quickly said, “Xixi, you can’t say that. Right, Ziyu?”
Zhang Xixi finally caught on and loudly said, “Hey, I know this isn’t your fault, but you hurt Ziyu’s feelings. You must apologize. Ziyu isn’t unreasonable; she’ll forgive you.”
This little girl was quite clever, quickly putting Tang Ziyu in a position to forgive and giving Jia Simiao a way out. He immediately seized the opportunity and sincerely said, “Tang Ziyu, it was my fault. Please forgive me. I promise to knock next time…”
“Next time? You want a next time?”
Not only Shen Jun’ao and Zhang Xixi, but even Tang Ziyu widened her eyes. They had never seen such a shameless person. So, seeing once wasn’t enough, he wanted a second time? Did he live with them just for this? He must have a voyeuristic fetish, absolutely.
Jia Simiao was also startled and quickly explained, “I mean, I promise there won’t be a next time. Slip of the tongue, slip of the tongue. Ziyu, we met on the plane. You know my character.”
Tang Ziyu glared at Jia Simiao and huffed, “I know your character… but it’s not great.”
Zhang Xixi burst into laughter, “Alright, Jia Simiao apologized, and Ziyu forgave you. Let’s move on. Jia Simiao, hurry up and make breakfast so we can go get supplies.”
Jia Simiao quickly agreed and took the opportunity to leave.
Actually, they rarely had breakfast before. When they did, it was usually something quick from outside. Now, they had Jia Simiao. Last night’s dinner was still fresh in their minds. Having a hardworking bro wasn’t bad. Someone to cook and clean while they used the time to do their makeup or practice yoga.
A few simple dishes of salad, a small pot of preserved egg and pork congee, sprinkled with green onions and cilantro, emitting a faint aroma. Each had a boiled egg. They ate heartily, throwing all notions of being ladylike out the window.
After all, there were no handsome guys around.
Jia Simiao, feeling a bit dejected, thought, what do you mean no handsome guys? Do they have eyes? But he was living under their roof and had a calm temperament, so he wouldn’t argue. If it were Sun Renyao or Fu Junfeng from the Lingnan Three Young Masters, he would have given them a good beating.
Dare to say he wasn’t handsome? In Lingnan City, who didn’t know he was the most handsome?
After breakfast, Tang Ziyu went to school, Shen Jun’ao went to work, leaving Zhang Xixi and Jia Simiao at home.
Zhang Xixi took a drink from the fridge and approached Jia Simiao, “Jia-Ge1, want something to drink?”
Jia Simiao, reading the newspaper, shook his head, “No.”
Like a magician, she produced a pack of cigarettes and placed it in front of Jia Simiao, smiling, “Here, have a smoke. I’ll light it for you.”
“No smoking! We have a mutual agreement, no smoking indoors.”
“They’re not here, it’s fine.”
“No, I have my own principles to follow.”
“Then… what do you want for lunch? Let’s eat out, my treat.”
“Not eating.”
Zhang Xixi’s face changed, “Jia Simiao, don’t push your luck. I’m being nice to you, and you’re acting all high and mighty. Don’t forget, you’re the hardworking bro. Last night, you said we should do something else. If you don’t tell me, I’ll go back to Nanjiang Market for more small accessories…”
Jia Simiao smiled, “Xixi, since you mentioned getting supplies, let’s take a walk.”
Zhang Xixi immediately brightened up, “Let’s go. Do we need to bring anything? I’ll help you carry it.”
Jia Simiao said, “We don’t need anything. We’re just going for a walk.”
