My Girlfriend's a Monster - Chapter 56
Luo Ke froze. As soon as she heard Zhong Qingxiao finish speaking angrily, it seemed as if all her attention was drawn towards him. She stared at him motionlessly for a moment before decisively walking over to him.
“I’ll listen to you.” Luo Ke hooked onto Zhong Qingxiao’s hand that hung by his side and cherished it, even kissing it near her lips.
Zhong Qingxiao’s furrowed brows did not relax. He firmly held his girlfriend’s hand and left that place of conflict.
Behind them, Zhao Xucheng watched the couple leave, raising an eyebrow in confusion. He couldn’t pinpoint it, but something about their interaction seemed odd to him.
Luo Meihua had already returned home. Zhong Shuping poured her a cup of hot water. As soon as Zhong Qingxiao entered, he locked the door behind him and asked with concern, “Auntie, you weren’t scared, were you?”
Luo Meihua shook her head and replied, “Thanks to you just now, Qingxiao.”
Zhong Qingxiao sighed and said, “With what happened today, first thing tomorrow morning, I’m going to talk to the other residents. We need to drive those two away.”
“By the way, did Zheng Xiangyu get her injection?”
Luo Meihua nodded, “It’s been done. Ge Hailong was targeting her right from the start. If I hadn’t stopped him in time, his knife would have stabbed her.”
Zhong Qingxiao frowned. Ge Hailong wanted to kill Zheng Xiangyu? Was it jealousy, because she, unlike others in Baoliyuan, had food and people to take care of her?
He was utterly despicable.
Zhong Qingxiao looked down to see his girlfriend staring intently at him. He couldn’t help but feel frustrated; he grabbed Luo Ke’s hand and led her to the sink to wash them, just like last time, holding her hands in his palms and carefully rubbing soap into every nook.
He was a bit rougher this time, but seeing Xiao Ke’s reactionless stare in the mirror as she watched his hands, he couldn’t bring himself to be angry.
Sighing softly, his voice softened and his motions slowed as he spoke, “Didn’t I tell you not to get close to Zhao Xucheng? Why didn’t you listen?”
He paused, then added, “Do you like him that much?”
Luo Ke looked up, liking? Although that emotion was fine to associate with meat, she didn’t really want to “eat” Zhao Xucheng.
It wasn’t about liking; it was just bearable. After all, he had touched on Zhong Qingxiao’s secret.
His girlfriend didn’t respond.
Luo Ke’s silence made Zhong Qingxiao’s heart sink. He turned on the water to wash away the soap from their hands. Was what his girlfriend had previously said about him being the only one a lie?
“Is it because I didn’t let you into the bathroom last time, so you’re holding a grudge?”
Luo Ke seemed bewildered. She felt as if Zhong Qingxiao was trying to tell her something, but she didn’t quite understand what it was.
But… if she nodded now, would that mean she could always enter in the future?
So, Luo Ke nodded.
Zhong Qingxiao’s motion of drying her hands faltered. He silently hung the towel back up and looked into his girlfriend’s eyes, asking, “Do I have to obey you completely?”
Last time he had refused to sleep with her, this time it was the bathroom. Every time he denied Luo Ke something, she would go out and find Zhao Xucheng for amusement-is that what it meant?
“What are you talking about?” Luo Ke murmured, “Of course, you have to obey me completely.”
She was the master, after all, and a pet had to be obedient.
Although she would indulge her dear wife’s whims, those were exceptions. Principally, her dear wife had to be totally loyal to her.
But after her matter-of-fact reply, she saw Zhong Qingxiao slightly dazed for a moment before he silently walked into the bedroom.
He seemed unhappy. Why? Didn’t Zhong Qingxiao want to obey her completely?
Luo Ke’s eyes deepened. How could that be? How could that be?
She followed Zhong Qingxiao into the bedroom. After dinner, they were supposed to mate, as he had promised her in the car.
Luo Ke didn’t understand why Zhong Qingxiao was unhappy, but she felt that could be put aside for now, to be resolved after mating.
Thus, she bent down to kiss his lips, kissing him bit by bit.
Zhong Qingxiao’s body stiffened as he looked up into her hungry eyes. The matter with Zhao Xucheng hadn’t affected her at all; her thoughts were wholly focused on sleeping with him.
Completely obeying her-was she really treating him like a fun toy?
Compelled by some emotion, Zhong Qingxiao instinctively pushed Luo Ke away. After performing the act, his heart skipped a beat, and an unknown fear plummeted with his heart-he had rejected his girlfriend.
Could this anger her?
Zhong Qingxiao suddenly stood up, barely daring to look into Luo Ke’s eyes as he murmured, “I… I just remembered I have something to do outside.”
He quickly threw on his coat and left the house. After closing the door of Room 1801, he actually sighed in relief.
He had just feared his partner… Such feelings shouldn’t exist between lovers, should they?
Zhong Qingxiao took a deep breath. It was getting late, and he didn’t want to disturb others. The only nearby options were Room 1802 and 1803. After hesitating for a moment, Zhong Qingxiao knocked on the door of Room 1802.
“Just a moment.” Zhu Yiming’s voice came from inside, and soon the door opened. “What needs fixing…”
“Ah, Qingxiao, what’s up?” Zhu Yiming was slightly startled, thinking someone had come for repairs.
“Can I come in and sit?” asked Zhong Qingxiao.
“Sure.” Zhu Yiming stepped aside. “Sorry for the mess, just ignore it.”
Clothes piled on the sofa, dishes stacked in the sink, and the room smelling faintly of instant food-it looked exactly like a bachelor’s pad.
Zhong Qingxiao watched Zhu Yiming close the door, his gaze landing on the wheelchair, surprised, “You’ve converted it into an electric one.”
“Yeah! How about that? Pretty neat, huh?” Zhu Yiming had fully recovered from the sadness of his amputation, now spending his days fixing things, cooking a bit, or providing some services, living the recluse life he had always wanted.
“What did you need?” Zhu Yiming asked.
Zhong Qingxiao didn’t really know; he just wanted to escape. He felt aggrieved but didn’t know who to talk to and had inexplicably knocked on Room 1802’s door. But at the end of the day, he wasn’t close enough with Zhu Yiming to discuss such matters.
Zhong Qingxiao didn’t like discussing his private concerns with strangers, so he forced a casual topic: “Do you know about the thing that just happened in the hallway? Those people from Baoliyuan can’t stay any longer.”
Zhu Yiming was startled, “What happened? I’m not sure, let me check the surveillance.”
“Surveillance?” Zhong Qingxiao was surprised, “You can see what’s happening outside the door?”
“Yeah, Qin Mei asked me to set up a camera over the open area by the female dormitory entrance. She occasionally comes over to check, and since I can’t easily leave the house, having a camera also helps me stay informed. She helped me install one over the corridor as well.”
As Zhu Yiming activated the surveillance video on his computer, retrieving footage from the last hour, the images weren’t very clear, but they were definitely discernible.
First, Luo Meihua followed Yan Cheng into the female dormitory, likely for an injection. Later, Ge Hailong wandered around the corridor, and shortly after, he headed towards the dormitory, where chaos ensued.
“Wow, that son of a gun has some nerve! Murdering someone?!” Zhu Yiming exclaimed in shock, angrily adding, “We must drive them out soon. Ever since those folks from Baoliyuan arrived, our place has never been peaceful!”
He continued to curse, completely unaware that Zhong Qingxiao’s expression had completely changed.
As Zhu Yiming’s attention was caught by the scuffle and chaos at the female dormitory in the corner of the monitor, Zhong Qingxiao saw a familiar figure in the corner of the corridor monitor, not far from the dormitory, silently observing the scene.
His own mother was threatened with a knife, and she could have easily intervened, yet she chose to watch coldly.
Zhong Qingxiao’s eyes trembled, and he was so shocked he couldn’t speak for a long moment.
His girlfriend-she was a monster. All those words about loving him, were they just lies?
