Morphing Heavens - Chapter 94 - The Duel Begins
As the host finished speaking, he clapped his hands, and the stands erupted with cheers. Once the cheering subsided, the king continued, “The competition is brutal, and reaching this point has not been easy. I hope the teams that have been eliminated do not lose heart and continue to strive. The doors of the next grand event are still open to you. And for the two teams that have advanced, do not get complacent-after all, the competition is not yet over. May you all be careful on the field; remember, results are second, and friendship comes first! Only through martial prowess can one recognize a hero.” With that, he waved his hands, unleashing two powerful currents of spatial power that struck the floating colored balloons above the arena. The balloons burst with a loud “bang,” releasing millions of colorful strips that filled the arena, creating a vibrant sea of colors.
Seeing this, the contestants applauded excitedly. Ren Changfeng clapped and said, “The old man knows how to speak well!”
Zhang Deguan shot him a glance and said, “Hmph! He’s making so much money off this; shouldn’t he say a few polite words?” Although this old man was the king, the wealth this competition brought to their country was immeasurable. From ticket sales to expenditures from visitors from other countries, all of it contributed to their development. Moreover, they were sweating it out in the arena, and only the top ten teams would win the prize money-an amount hardly worth mentioning compared to the overall profits of the event. This old man could sit comfortably on his imperial throne, easily earning money; how could he not show us respect? We, the competitors, are his money tree!
“Haha, that makes sense!” said Kete, the fishman, nodding. He then thought to himself that since this was inland territory, they hadn’t caused any harm to them fishmen. He might as well wait until the competition ended and then ask around in the palace to see if he could secure a position for himself. That way, he could establish roots in the inland, and in the future, members of his clan might have the opportunity to come inland too!
Before long, the colorful strips gradually began to fall. The audience’s excitement began to calm, and the host returned to the platform, clapping and saying, “Thank you, King, for your inspiring words. Now, without further ado, let us welcome the first team: Makin Tina from the insect spirit clan!”
In the backstage, upon hearing the host’s announcement, Tina impatiently tapped her wrist and said, “Finally, it’s our turn! That old man Sal really can go on and on.” With that, she threw on her coat and walked onto the arena. The four youthful and beautiful insect spirit clan women immediately captured the attention of the male spectators! The atmosphere in the stands surged.
The host saw Tina and her team walking out and waved for them to step onto the arena. However, Tina responded with a dismissive gesture, and the host could only shrug helplessly before continuing, “Next, please welcome the elite team from the distant Basse Continent, the Yun brothers!”
The brothers could hardly contain their excitement and quickly ran out from backstage. Waving to the audience, Yun Chi took off his hat and tossed it into the stands. Then he blew a kiss and exclaimed, “Dear audience, no! Dear ladies, your most dashing brother Yun Chi is about to take the stage! Let me hear your screams!”
“…” The audience fell instantly silent!
Seeing this, Yun Chi shook his head in disappointment and continued walking forward, while the host looked at him with indignation, wondering if he was trying to take his job.
The two teams stood on opposite sides of the arena, and the king waved his hand, saying, “Begin!”
On the arena, the two sides stared at each other for a moment before Yun Huo spoke up, “Hehe, I see now-you’re a girl. I’m sorry for saying before that you were a tomboy!” His words drew laughter from the audience, who chuckled, “Is this a serious final?”
“Haha, how did such a person just barge in?”
The host could only feel more helpless, while the king smiled at Yun Huo, “This young man is quite amusing!”
Looking at the audience’s reaction, Tina’s expression darkened, but then she smiled lightly, “Hehe, is that so? It seems you’re not too dumb after all!”
“Well, it’s finally time for us to face off. Go ahead and show me your moves.” With that, he assumed a fighting stance, his aura swirling around him as he summoned his spatial power to wrap around his legs, preparing to use his leg techniques to win the match.
Seeing this, Tina tossed her coat to the side and summoned a pair of enormous orange wings from behind her. Dressed in a light yellow robe adorned with intricate brown threads that formed elegant branches and peach-colored threads that embroidered butterflies in flight stretching from her hem to her waist, she tied a deep purple wide belt around her slender waist, accentuating her graceful figure while giving her an elegant yet regal appearance. The white sheer fabric revealed her delicate neck and prominent collarbones, while the hem of her skirt just covered her beautiful feet. For this competition, Tina had specially tailored her robe so that it wouldn’t touch the ground, allowing her to move freely in battle. Her short hair was styled smartly to shoulder length and held back with a headband, with two strands of hair falling in front of her eyes, enhancing her free-spirited demeanor. A light touch of powder brightened her complexion, and the subtle blush on her cheeks gave her a tender, petal-like appearance, making her seem like a butterfly dancing in the wind. However, her large eyes were as cold as ice, clear and penetrating like snow. She was adorned in the typical attire of an insect spirit clan female.
As Tina’s coat floated slowly to the ground, her hands swiftly transformed into two pairs of black claw hands. When her fingers touched, they produced a sharp, metallic sound. She couldn’t use traditional weapons, so these unique claws from the insect spirit clan mixed blood became her formidable tools. At that moment, Yun Huo suddenly clapped his hands and exclaimed, “Wow! I’ve been meaning to ask, where did you get those gloves? They look so convenient!”
Upon hearing this, Tina’s face darkened with frustration. Was this guy joking to distract me? Ignorance shouldn’t go this far! She turned her head away and said, “Hmph! Still so clueless. These are my unique weapons!” With that, she curled her fingers, and the dark claws glimmered ominously.
Seeing this, Yun Ye, standing behind, warned, “Second brother, watch out! Those claws can crush blades!”
“Really? That’s impressive! I want to have a pair!” Yun Huo replied, turning back with envy in his eyes.
“Focus on her; we’ll handle the others. Once we take care of them, I’ll come help you!” Yun Lie said, nodding in encouragement.
“Got it, don’t worry!” Yun Huo replied confidently.
With that, Yun Huo charged toward Tina. Unwilling to back down, Tina swung her hands and rushed at him. Their fists clashed at the center of the arena with a loud “bang!” Both were pushed back a few steps from the force of the impact. Yun Huo crouched to absorb the shock, then leaped up and executed a sweeping kick, channeling his spatial power into a massive flying knife aimed straight at Tina.
Seeing this, Tina leaped into the air, agilely dodging Yun Huo’s sweeping kick, and swiftly moved behind him. With a claw, she grabbed his shoulder and threw him backward. He landed heavily on the ground, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth as he looked at her and said, “You’re amazing! Now it’s my turn to attack!”
