Morphing Heavens - Chapter 92 - Pre-Competition
In the competitors’ apartment, Tina and her group of four gathered around a table, discussing strategies.
They looked at each other, their expressions varied, with most of the sisters showing some signs of worry. It was midnight, and none of them seemed tired. For the Insect Spirit Clan, night was the best time to venture out; their combat strength at night was several times stronger than that of beastmen, which was one reason the Insect Spirit Clan Alliance could dominate the continent.
The flame in the lampshade flickered gently, the windows slightly ajar, and the quiet night brought no hint of a breeze. The dancing light illuminated the table where a few documents lay, which contained information about Yun Huo and his companions. Tina picked one up, briefly scanned it, and tossed it into the trash bin behind the door. Since Yun Huo was not a native of this continent, the information on him was limited; she only knew his strength level. The data on the other brothers was even less reliable, with names mixed up and details so vague that it was frustrating. After glancing at the document, Tina felt overwhelmed; the people hired to gather this information were utterly useless! Paying them for this service was simply a waste.
The four of them sat in silence, each deep in thought about the strategies Yun Huo and his friends had used to advance in recent days, looking for their weaknesses.
After a while, Xiulu could no longer bear the silence. She clapped her hands and said, “Boss, only a few days are left until the finals. Those young men who came from who-knows-where have actually made it this far. Shouldn’t we do something about it?” As she spoke, she fixed her captivating gaze on the others, plotting something in her mind.
Upon hearing this, Lyman shrugged and looked at the dazed Tina, offering a resigned smile. “Hehe, the Boss isn’t going to share any plans with us. Her approach is to avoid planning completely and just take it step by step.” After saying that, she leaned back in her chair, staring blankly at the empty table. What was there to think about? Now that they had reached this point, they might as well just fight; winning or losing wasn’t that important, as long as someone was there to offer them flowers afterward. Yet, the Boss seemed slightly anxious. Could it be that she felt intimidated? No way; Tina was the most arrogant person I’ve ever seen; nothing could truly scare her.
“That won’t work, though. We still need a few more teammates, for instance, someone to cook and do the laundry,” Xiulu interjected, steering the topic away. After all, the sisters had no more insight into Yun Huo and his companions’ information, and besides, they genuinely needed a more practical girl to join them. It was embarrassing that in their group of four, none of them could cook!
Upon hearing this, Tina, who had been resting her chin on her hand and staring blankly, suddenly perked up. She yawned and stood up, placing one foot on the table. “I’ve thought about this. I’m planning to find an angel to be our next partner. What do you all think? We might gain some extra benefits too!”
The advantage of having an angel isn’t just in handling chores efficiently; angels are considered the most precious treasure of the celestial court. Although there are many angels, each possesses a unique tear gland. The tears extracted from these glands can be refined into the best healing potions in the world, known for their bone-setting and tissue regeneration properties. Because of this characteristic, the celestial court strictly prohibits angels from descending to the mortal realm. Despite their status, there are numerous elite masters on the ground, and if they’re not careful, they might be abducted for their precious tears. On the Basse Continent, Mu Xueye had an angel living in his household, and just one angel’s tears allowed him to navigate among the many strong figures on the continent, maintaining excellent relationships. So, acquiring an angel as a companion would indeed be an uphill battle!
After expressing her idea, Tina noticed the strange looks her sisters were giving her, making her suddenly realize that her plan seemed a bit far-fetched. Xiulu, after a brief pause, burst out laughing, saying, “Haha, the Boss really speaks without thinking! An angel? Where would we find one? Are we supposed to go to the celestial court by ourselves?” The others joined in her laughter, and the heavy atmosphere in the room was instantly lifted.
“Fools! The regulations of the celestial court are strict, but some angels can’t bear it and will descend to the mortal realm on their own. When that happens, we can just capture her before the guardians find her!” Tina argued back defensively. Yet, despite her confident words, she felt uncertain. She realized that any angel who had escaped would at least be a martial king-level elite. If they recklessly went after one, the consequences could be unimaginable.
At that moment, Shara walked over to Tina and gently patted her shoulder, stifling a laugh. “You really are as naïve as ever! There are twenty-two guardians on this continent who have the strength to kill any angels who descend unlawfully, all around the martial emperor level. Compared to them, we’re like little bugs crawling on the ground. Even if we manage to capture an angel, how can we possibly compete with them?”
After he spoke, Tina pushed Shara’s hand away and turned her head, scoffing, “Hmph! There’s nothing that can’t be done. It just depends on whether you’re willing to try. I’ve made up my mind; after this competition, we’re going to look for an angel to avoid you all gossiping about my lack of planning!” With that, she pushed the door open and stepped outside for a walk, feeling like her head was about to explode from being cooped up in the small room!
Watching Tina’s figure slowly disappear into the darkness, Xiulu sighed with a smile, “Haha! This plan really is something else!”
“Who can blame our Boss for being so extraordinary?” Shara replied helplessly.
Tina walked out of the apartment for a stroll while the other three began preparing for the competition.
