I'm Done with the Elite Marriage - Chapter 62
Zhou Youling’s sleep was restless, as if she had run a marathon in her dreams due to sheer exhaustion. Her dreams spanned across different times, from her childhood to her teenage years, and then to her marriage with Fu Xunzhou.
In all those dreams, there was one thing she didn’t dream about-her divorce.
When she woke up, the sky was already lightening.
Opening her eyes, she saw doctors and nurses in white coats around her.
Seeing Zhou Youling awake, a female doctor said, “We were just debating whether to wake you up.”
Feeling a bit disoriented, Zhou Youling took a couple of seconds to gather her thoughts before attempting to sit up. The female doctor said, “It’s okay, you can stay lying down.”
It was the morning rounds, and after understanding Zhou Youling’s condition, the doctor informed her about her current situation.
Zhou Youling’s condition wasn’t serious, but the doctor advised her not to overexert herself and suggested she get an ultrasound in the morning, handing her a referral for it.
“By the way, where’s your husband? He was just here, but he left during the rounds. Have him pick up some medication from the pharmacy later,” the doctor said.
Zhou Youling looked puzzled, “My husband?”
The doctor didn’t notice her confusion and smiled, “You and your husband are both good-looking. Your baby will surely be adorable. Congratulations.”
Zhou Youling didn’t respond, instinctively glancing at the door.
She had dreamt a lot last night, and her memories were a bit jumbled. But she vaguely remembered that in her dream, Fu Xunzhou had been by her side the entire time.
Zhou Youling began to wonder if she was still dreaming.
After the doctor left, Zhou Youling checked the time on her phone. It was already past eight. She hesitated for a moment before calling Rong Huiying.
Early on a winter morning, Rong Huiying was still lounging in bed. Upon receiving the call, she sprang up and asked, “What! Where are you?”
“I’m at the hospital…” Zhou Youling weakly reported her room number.
Rong Huiying hurriedly got out of bed, anxiously asking, “What happened! You were hospitalized last night? Why didn’t you tell me? I thought you were still at your female cousin’s place! Zhou Youling! You’re worrying me to death!”
Zhou Youling quietly listened to her mom’s nagging, interspersed with her dad’s inquiries, “…Lingling is at the hospital?”
Rong Huiying told Zhou Zhishan, “Hurry up! Let’s go! We’re heading to the hospital right now.”
Finally, Rong Huiying asked Zhou Youling, “Have you had breakfast?”
Zhou Youling replied, “Not yet.”
Rong Huiying said, “Alright, I’ll bring you some breakfast from home. Stay there, don’t be afraid.”
Zhou Youling smiled, “Mom, I’m not afraid.”
At that moment, Zhou Youling felt a warm sense of comfort. Being alone in the hospital room, she didn’t feel scared. The room was quiet and clean. Strangely, unlike others, the smell of disinfectant in the hospital gave Zhou Youling a sense of reassurance.
Not long after hanging up, Zhou Youling received another call. It was from Xu Jiaze’s agent, Yu Wenwei.
Yu Wenwei, always tactful in his dealings, inquired about Zhou Youling’s current situation and once again expressed his apologies. He advised Zhou Youling to stay in the hospital for now, as he needed to take Xu Jiaze to an event and would return as soon as possible, hopefully by the day after tomorrow.
Xu Jiaze also took the phone and said to Zhou Youling, “Elder sister, please take good care of yourself.”
Faced with such continuous concern, Zhou Youling felt her heart melt. Perhaps, when one is alone, they truly crave care, whether Zhou Youling admitted it or not.
However, Zhou Youling had to admit that being alone in the hospital room was indeed a bit boring. So, she picked up her phone and idly browsed through Weibo. To her surprise, Xu Jiaze’s company had issued an apology statement, sincerely apologizing for everything that happened last night.
Zhou Youling also noticed that her Weibo was flooded with comments, mostly from Xu Jiaze’s fans.
“Elder sister, on behalf of Yijiaren, I want to apologize to you. It was our disorderly behavior that caused you harm. We’re sorry.”
“Elder sister, we’re sorry, though we don’t expect your forgiveness. We just hope you recover soon.”
“Yijiaren loves Jiaze, but our way of expressing love was indeed a bit excessive. We feel truly ashamed for what happened.”
“[Heart][Heart][Heart]”
“Elder sister, please recover soon!”
The events of last night were quickly reported by the media, and marketing accounts exaggerated the situation. All the attention was directed at Xu Jiaze, blaming his fans.
The incident was pushed to the trending searches, and Xu Jiaze also posted an apology on Weibo.
Seeing the situation spiral beyond her expectations, Zhou Youling didn’t anticipate that this would put Xu Jiaze in such a difficult position.
After some thought, as the person involved, Zhou Youling, who hadn’t posted on Weibo for a while, composed a message: “I’m fine, I’ve received your messages and DMs. I’ve felt your warmth, no blame on you [Heart][Heart][Heart]”
After sending the Weibo post, Zhou Youling’s phone battery was nearly depleted. She lifted the blanket, glanced at her slightly rounded belly, and couldn’t help but touch it. She was truly grateful that fate hadn’t taken away the little life inside her.
With nothing to do, Zhou Youling got out of bed, realizing she hadn’t showered the previous night and looked quite disheveled without even a towel to wash her face.
But when Zhou Youling entered the private bathroom of her single room, she found new toiletries neatly arranged. She remembered these weren’t there last night, so they must have been newly purchased.
Recalling what the medical staff had mentioned earlier, almost reflexively, Zhou Youling stepped out of the room and looked around the Inpatient Department corridor. She wanted to confirm who it was. Interestingly, deep down, she already knew the answer.
Since it was morning, the corridor was bustling with people, including doctors making their rounds, creating a lively atmosphere.
A nurse passed by and gave Zhou Youling a slight smile, to which Zhou Youling nodded in return.
Not seeing that person, she glanced at a disease prevention poster on the wall before returning to her room.
With an indescribable emotion in her heart, Zhou Youling sighed softly, hoping she had indeed been dreaming last night, as she couldn’t face her innermost feelings.
After Zhou Youling returned to her room, a tall figure slowly emerged from around the corner of the corridor.
Fu Xunzhou hadn’t really left. He had stayed in the room with her all night, watching over her. When the medical staff came for rounds, he quietly left the room.
He feared she would resent his presence, so he didn’t dare to show himself.
Now that it was daylight and someone was there to take care of her, he could finally leave.
