I'm Done with the Elite Marriage - Chapter 50
Recalling the slap Luo Hang had given Bai Lingxue earlier, Zhou Youling grew increasingly furious. She kicked Luo Hang hard and shouted, “You bastard! How dare you hit a woman! She’s your girlfriend! And you still have the nerve to go after another woman!”
“Girlfriend? Hahaha.” Luo Hang laughed while lying on the ground, “It’s just mutual convenience, did you really take it seriously?”
Upon hearing this, Bai Lingxue covered her face, crying her heart out.
Who would have thought that this seemingly warm-hearted man could do such a thing? Bai Lingxue considered herself quite savvy in life, yet she never expected to be deceived by this young man. She thought she had found true love, only to discover she had met a deceitful scoundrel.
Zhou Youling shouted at Luo Hang, “Shut up!”
Luo Hang, being a strong man, couldn’t stand such humiliation. He got up and grabbed Zhou Youling’s hand.
“Think you’re tough, huh? Interesting.” Luo Hang held onto Zhou Youling’s hand with nearly all his strength, preventing her from breaking free.
He had been careless earlier, allowing this woman to knock him down, and he couldn’t swallow his pride.
Around them, a crowd of onlookers gathered, eager for drama.
It was the weekend, and the supermarket was bustling, yet the crowd remained mere spectators, unwilling to get involved.
The young girl who had been with Luo Hang stood aside, watching the scene unfold with amusement.
Zhou Youling realized her impulsiveness had put her in a precarious situation. Compared to this scoundrel, she was just a small, vulnerable woman. Though she knew a few moves, things were different now; she was pregnant, and such vigorous actions were dangerous. But in that moment, she couldn’t let her friend suffer such humiliation.
“Let go!” Zhou Youling demanded fiercely.
“I won’t!” Luo Hang retorted defiantly. As he spoke, he raised his hand to slap Zhou Youling across the face.
At this moment, Bai Lingxue rushed over and bit Luo Hang’s hand, forcing him to release Zhou Youling.
“You bitch!” Luo Hang cursed, kicking Bai Lingxue viciously, behaving like a brute.
Zhou Youling ignored Luo Hang and hurried to help Bai Lingxue, who had fallen to the ground, asking worriedly, “Are you okay?”
Luo Hang’s kick landed on Bai Lingxue’s stomach, fortunately not causing more harm.
Bai Lingxue shook her head bitterly at Zhou Youling, then suddenly spotted Luo Hang and urgently warned, “Watch out!”
Zhou Youling thought she was doomed. She turned around to see Luo Hang standing in a strange posture.
Luo Hang was being held by the collar from behind, his foot raised, ready to kick Zhou Youling, but stopped midway.
“I want to see what kind of scumbag you are,” Ji Yangwen said coldly from behind Luo Hang.
With that, he kicked Luo Hang hard, returning the favor by knocking him to the ground.
The crowd of onlookers cheered, “Good kick!”
“Men who hit women deserve no mercy!”
“What a scumbag!”
Ji Yangwen showed no mercy, delivering a powerful kick to Luo Hang, sending him sprawling on the ground. He then followed up with a couple of punches to Luo Hang’s face, leaving him almost immobile.
Soon, the mall security guards rushed over. Although it appeared that Ji Yangwen was the one doing the hitting, the guards unanimously grabbed Luo Hang from the ground.
Ji Yangwen stood up, adjusted his clothes, and approached Zhou Youling. “Are you alright?”
Zhou Youling looked at Ji Yangwen with a hint of surprise in her eyes and shook her head. “I’m fine. What are you doing here?”
Ji Yangwen replied, “To be honest, this supermarket is part of my chain. I happened to be here for an inspection this afternoon.”
Zhou Youling nodded. “What a coincidence.”
“Indeed.”
With so many chance encounters, even Ji Yangwen, who didn’t believe in fate, had to start reconsidering. Once or twice might be a coincidence, but the number of times he and Zhou Youling had crossed paths was too many to ignore.
Ji Yangwen had watched Zhou Youling’s actions from afar, feeling both admiration and concern. In that moment, he felt a strong urge to protect her.
Zhou Youling helped Bai Lingxue up and repeatedly thanked Ji Yangwen.
“No need to thank me,” Ji Yangwen shook his head, gently tucking a loose strand of Zhou Youling’s hair behind her ear.
Zhou Youling realized how disheveled she must look and gave Ji Yangwen an embarrassed smile. She had let her long hair down casually today, and after all the commotion, she probably looked like a mess.
“I’ll give you a ride,” Ji Yangwen offered.
Zhou Youling noticed Bai Lingxue’s subtle signals and smiled at Ji Yangwen. “No need, you’ve already helped us a lot. We’ll just take a cab.”
Ji Yangwen could see the silent communication between Zhou Youling and her friend, and he wisely didn’t insist. Instead, he assured Zhou Youling, “I’ll take care of that guy. Don’t worry.”
“Thank you.”
In the end, Ji Yangwen still played the role of a gracious host, ensuring Zhou Youling and Bai Lingxue got into a taxi safely.
Turning around, Ji Yangwen spoke sternly to his companion, “Make sure I don’t see that man in Nanzhou City again.”
As the heir to Ji’s Group, dealing with someone like Luo Hang was not a difficult task for Ji Yangwen. With a simple accusation, Luo Hang wouldn’t just be unable to stay in Nanzhou City; he wouldn’t even be able to secure his academic credentials from the past few years.
Offending someone Ji Yangwen cared about meant Luo Hang’s life was essentially over, given Ji Yangwen’s meticulous and unforgiving nature.
…
After leaving the supermarket, Zhou Youling took Bai Lingxue into a taxi, intending to take her to the hospital for a check-up.
However, Bai Lingxue insisted on not going to the hospital and wanted to go home instead.
Zhou Youling had no choice but to take Bai Lingxue home.
On the way back, Bai Lingxue remained silent, which worried Zhou Youling greatly.
“If you want to cry, just cry. Don’t hold it in, okay?” Zhou Youling held Bai Lingxue’s hand.
Bai Lingxue shook her head and hugged Zhou Youling. “Thank you.”
“Thank me for what? I was really worried,” Zhou Youling said.
Bai Lingxue looked up at Zhou Youling. “You shouldn’t have intervened for me. You’re pregnant. What if something happened to the baby?”
Zhou Youling patted her chest, “My baby definitely wouldn’t agree to her godmother being hit by a jerk, right?”
Bai Lingxue nodded, her smile more painful than tears.
Youling reached out and gently pinched Lingxue’s cheek, “This pretty little face, how can anyone hit it? If someone tries to bully you, I’ll be the first to disagree!”
Lingxue, who had been holding back tears all the way, finally couldn’t help but let her eyes turn red. She hugged Youling, crying her heart out.
“Cry, you little fool.”
In the afternoon, they returned home, and before they knew it, it was already dark outside.
After settling Lingxue, Youling called her restaurant to order some takeout, asking her staff to deliver it.
Lingxue’s spirits quickly recovered. Looking at herself in the mirror, she asked Youling, “Do I look ridiculous?”
“Not at all.” Youling handed her a warm towel, “Here, wipe your face.”
Lingxue took the towel and pressed it against her face.
She didn’t feel like crying as much, just embarrassed.
Youling patted Lingxue’s shoulder, “Don’t overthink it, alright?”
“Yeah, I’m not thinking about it.” Lingxue put down the towel and smiled at Youling, “Don’t worry about me.”
Soon, there was a knock at the door. Congshi rushed over, fuming.
“Damn it! Where’s that Luo Hang? If I don’t beat him up today, I’m not human!” Congshi was furious.
“He dared to hit my friend!”
“He must have a death wish!”
“Damn!”
Youling grabbed the angry Congshi and shoved a drink into her hand, “Honestly, I didn’t get to hit him enough either. How about we find a time to put a sack over his head and give him a good beating?”
Congshi agreed with Youling’s suggestion, nodding, “Alright! It’s settled then!”
Lingxue laughed, “Okay, neither of you is going to do anything stupid. Especially you, Youling! You know your current condition, right?”
Youling laughed and touched her belly, “The little one inside me definitely agrees with my plan.”
Soon, the doorbell rang again.
Congshi got up to open the door, turning to shout, “Youling, someone’s here for you.”
Youling walked to the door and saw Ji Yangwen.
Yangwen was still dressed as he was in the afternoon, his black coat complementing his figure.
Seeing Youling, Yangwen smiled slightly, “Am I being a bit presumptuous?”
“Not at all, thank you so much for today. Do you want to come in?” Youling asked.
Yangwen shook his head, “I’m afraid it’s not appropriate. I was just worried, so I couldn’t help but come to check.”
“What are you worried about?” Youling asked.
Yangwen looked at Youling, “I’m worried about you.”
Youling’s heart skipped a beat, understanding the meaning behind Yangwen’s words.
She knew she had to refuse Yangwen, but she couldn’t deny that his thoughtfulness and care were very comforting to her.
“I…”
Yangwen interrupted before Youling could speak, “I won’t disturb you. Since you’re alright, I’m relieved. Also, don’t rush to reject me. Give me a chance to pursue you, okay?”
