Zhang Yi replied, “My name is Zhang Yi. Do you have any issues with me booking 500 tables of banquet here?”
The manager was taken aback; this was the first time they had encountered such a request since the hotel opened.
However, with such a large order, they certainly couldn’t turn it down if it came their way.
“Mr. Zhang, 500 tables of banquet will cost over a million. If you need it, we can prepare it immediately, but we’ll require a deposit of 200,000 in advance.”
Zhang Yi responded, “That’s not a problem. Send me your account details later, and I’ll transfer the money.”
With money naturally smoothing the way, the manager readily agreed, added Zhang Yi as a friend, and sent him the bank account details.
Without hesitation, Zhang Yi transferred the 200,000.
On the manager’s side, after confirming with the finance department that the deposit had been received, they immediately began instructing various departments.
“Hurry up! We’ve got a big order coming in. Tell the procurement department to stock up quickly, and the kitchen should stop taking other takeout orders for now!”
“We need to prepare the 500 tables of banquet the guest requested within a day!”
…
Meanwhile, after hanging up the phone, Zhang Yi couldn’t help but sigh, “Although the money will be useless in a month, I still need it to buy things now.”
In his hands, he had about 2 million, including the inheritance from his parents and his own savings.
Now, half of it was gone, and honestly, it still hurt a bit.
But then he thought, this was actually a good thing.
Many people held onto large sums of money, only for it to become worthless later.
Not everyone had the chance to spend their money.
“However, there are still many places where I’ll need money. I have to figure out a way to get more.”
Zhang Yi’s eyes immediately fell on his own house.
The house was located in the mid-ring area of Tianhai, with an area of 120 square meters, built 10 years ago.
According to the current market, it was worth over 40,000 per square meter.
In other words, the house was now worth at least 5 million.
“That’s it. I’ll take out a mortgage, and then I’ll have the money.”
Zhang Yi chuckled; the money borrowed wouldn’t need to be repaid, which was incredibly comfortable.
He immediately left his house, got in his car, and headed to the bank to apply for a loan.
On the way, he received a message from Fang Yuqing.
“Zhang Yi, the weekend is so boring. I really wish someone could go out with me.”
Zhang Yi glanced at it and then tossed his phone aside.
He arrived at the bank and began the loan process.
Since Zhang Yi was applying for a large loan amount, had all the necessary documents, and the house was fully paid for, the loan was quickly approved. However, the bank only offered him a loan of 4 million.
Zhang Yi didn’t bother haggling. After all, the money was essentially free, and he didn’t have the time to argue with the bank.
After signing the agreement promptly, the bank transferred the money into his account.
“Now, after spending over a million on the banquet, I still have about 5 million left.”
“That should be enough to renovate the house. But I also need to buy a lot of medicine and weapons. This money might not be sufficient.”
Zhang Yi stroked his chin, pondering how to get more money.
Just then, a blond-haired guy on the side of the road noticed Zhang Yi deep in thought. His eyes lit up, and he immediately approached.
“Hey, buddy, do you need some cash?”
Zhang Yi looked up at the blond guy.
“Who are you?”
The blond guy’s smile widened, and he lowered his voice. “I’m just asking if you need money right now and if the bank isn’t willing to lend it to you?”
Hearing this, Zhang Yi immediately understood what this guy was up to.
He must be a loan shark!
A plan quickly formed in Zhang Yi’s mind.
He sighed, pretending to be in a difficult situation. “Yeah, my family business urgently needs funds to keep things running. But the bank…”
Zhang Yi trailed off, deliberately showing a troubled expression.
The blond guy seemed to understand instantly.
After all, anyone who could borrow money through normal channels from a bank wouldn’t resort to usury.
He said to Zhang Yi, “Yeah, banks are really strict these days! All kinds of red tape, and the money comes in so slowly.”
“But, buddy, if you’re in urgent need of cash, I can help you out.”
Zhang Yi looked at the blond guy cautiously.
“You? Really? I need several million!”
Hearing it was a big deal, the blond guy’s eyes visibly lit up with excitement.
He pulled a business card out of his pocket and handed it to Zhang Yi.
“Our company specializes in rescuing people in financial distress. If you need money, you’ve come to the right place!”
Zhang Yi glanced at the card, which read “Duoduo Loan Financial Services Co., Ltd.”
The blond guy’s title was Business Manager, Hu Minghua.
Zhang Yi said excitedly, “You can really lend me the money? I need 5 million. If you can help me through this crisis, I promise to pay it back within three months at most!”
Hu Minghua smiled. “That’s something we can discuss. Our company is very capable and specializes in helping people like you who are short on funds.”
“Come on, let’s head to the office and talk this over in detail.”
Zhang Yi, with a look of eager anticipation, nodded and followed Hu Minghua to their company.
The so-called company was located in a remote office building.
Once inside, Hu Minghua led Zhang Yi straight to the boss’s office.
The boss of this loan company looked burly and rough, but he was dressed in a high-end Baleno suit, clearly trying to project an image of a legitimate business.
However, there was a hint of menace in his demeanor, the kind that only comes from years of hustling in the underworld.
Hu Minghua introduced Zhang Yi’s basic situation to the boss in front of him: “Manager, this is a customer who wants to borrow money from us.”
The boss, named Chen Xiong, smiled and invited Zhang Yi to sit down after seeing him.
“Mr. Zhang, how much do you want to borrow?”
As expected of a usury company, the conversation was straightforward and blunt.
Such companies, inherently unregulated, don’t have many rules and regulations.
Moreover, they have plenty of ways to make sure you pay back, so they’re not worried about defaults.
Zhang Yi said, “I want to borrow 5 million.”
Chen Xiong frowned, “Oh, that’s not a small amount. But Mr. Zhang, I must warn you, our interest rates are very high. You need to be prepared for that.”
Hu Minghua chimed in from the side, “Mr. Zhang’s business urgently needs funds to keep things running. Once the business is back on track, the money can be earned back quickly, right?”
The two of them played off each other, and Zhang Yi took it all in.
Zhang Yi still pretended to be in a hurry, saying, “Yes, I can pay it back soon. Even if the interest is high, it’s fine! As long as you can lend me the money.”
