- Chapter 3 - Shopping and Stockpiling
Zhang Yi was very cold towards Fang Yuqing.
Fang Yuqing and Lin Caining also sensed that something was off.
However, after mistakenly thinking that Zhang Yi was a hidden Rich Second Generation, the two of them didn’t get angry at his attitude. Instead, they actively approached him.
So what if a rich person has a bit of a temper? That’s called having style!
“Hey, Zhang Yi, were you just eating at this restaurant?”
Lin Caining asked, pretending to be casual.
Zhang Yi frowned slightly. This woman was no good either, just as bad as Fang Yuqing.
She had a hand in both deceiving him out of his food and ultimately causing his death.
“Yeah.”
Zhang Yi replied coldly, then shoved his hands into his pockets and turned toward the supermarket.
Fang Yuqing and Lin Caining quickly followed.
“Zhang Yi, where are you going?”
Fang Yuqing asked with a gentle smile.
“To the supermarket.”
Zhang Yi’s voice remained cold, tinged with impatience.
If it weren’t for wanting her to experience the despair of the apocalypse, Zhang Yi would have killed her on the spot.
Fang Yuqing gave Lin Caining a look and quickly said, “What a coincidence! We were planning to buy some things too. It’s on the way!”
Zhang Yi now understood.
They must have seen him dining at a Michelin Three-Star restaurant and mistakenly thought he was some hidden Rich Second Generation.
That’s why they suddenly became so enthusiastic toward him.
He couldn’t be bothered to explain and just walked straight toward the supermarket.
But the more he acted this way, the more Fang Yuqing and Lin Caining were convinced he was a Rich Second Generation.
Otherwise, why would he be so bold?
The two of them walked beside Zhang Yi, with Fang Yuqing sticking close to him, occasionally brushing her hand against his on purpose.
When Zhang Yi looked at her, she would shyly turn her head away, her face red as if she were deeply embarrassed.
Zhang Yi sneered inwardly.
You’re quite the actress, green tea bitch. If you went into acting, you’d definitely win an Oscar.
Zhang Yi entered the supermarket, grabbed a trolley, and started walking inside.
Fang Yuqing and Lin Caining quickly grabbed trolleys and followed.
“Zhang Yi, were you eating with someone?”
Fang Yuqing asked with a smile.
Zhang Yi headed toward the food section and replied coldly, “Can’t I eat by myself?”
Fang Yuqing’s eyes lit up, and she quickly said, “Oh, I didn’t mean it like that! It’s just that the food there is so expensive. I thought you were treating someone!”
Lin Caining couldn’t help but ask, “Zhang Yi, your monthly salary is only a little over ten thousand, right? That one meal would cost you half a year’s salary.”
“Looks like your family left you quite a bit of money.”
Fang Yuqing immediately shot Lin Caining a fierce glare.
Idiot, how could you ask something like that so casually!
As a top-tier green tea, the most important rule is: talk about feelings with the rich, and talk about money with the poor!
Lin Caining realized her mistake and quickly tried to recover.
“Haha, I was just joking. We’re all good friends, after all. Money really doesn’t matter.”
But Zhang Yi completely ignored them.
He walked into the food section, and the shelves filled with a dazzling array of products felt like a treasure trove to him.
In his Previous life, he had experienced surviving on one pack of instant noodles for two days.
So, when it came to food, he felt an insatiable longing.
Zhang Yi went straight to the shelves and began dumping food into his trolley without hesitation.
Ham sausage, instant noodles, self-heating hot pot, and seasonings-he bought them all in bulk.
This move left Fang Yuqing and Lin Caining utterly stunned.
“Zhang Yi, why… why are you buying so much food? Are you going camping?”
“Yeah.”
Zhang Yi replied indifferently.
Lin Caining, however, grew suspicious and whispered into Fang Yuqing’s ear, “Would a Rich Second Generation eat this kind of stuff while camping?”
Fang Yuqing was also puzzled, but when she thought about that Michelin Three-Star meal, she refused to let go of the idea that Zhang Yi was a Rich Second Generation.
She hurried over to Zhang Yi and eagerly asked, “Do you need any help?”
When free labor presented itself, Zhang Yi had no reason to refuse.
Plus, looking at Fang Yuqing’s deliberately innocent smile, a vengeful thought sprouted in his mind.
He still had a month to prepare for the coming apocalypse.
Building a perfect shelter to ensure his safety wouldn’t be difficult.
As for daily supplies, he could also acquire them through the Walmart warehouse.
This way, he could guarantee absolute safety and a comfortable life during the apocalypse.
Why not deliberately let Fang Yuqing know that he had stockpiled supplies? Then, when the time came, she’d come crying and begging him!
As for Fang Yuqing leaking the information and attracting those scumbag neighbors to attack him, that was also manageable.
As long as his safe house was built sturdy enough, he wouldn’t have to worry about being besieged. In fact, he could effectively counterattack those scumbag neighbors!
The thought of them being furious but utterly powerless brought a twisted smile to Zhang Yi’s face.
Hmm, this was definitely an option worth considering.
Zhang Yi planned to contact a security company later to build a safe house like this.
If feasible, he would go with this plan.
If not, he would leave the city and create an underground shelter in a remote wilderness.
This was his two-pronged approach.
A faint smile curled on Zhang Yi’s lips. “Then you two can help me push the trolleys!”
Fang Yuqing quickly nodded in agreement.
Zhang Yi also asked Lin Caining to go and fetch another trolley.
Although both women were filled with suspicion, they followed his instructions without question.
Zhang Yi bought a lot of non-perishable food, including instant noodles, Ham sausage, cured meat, and canned food.
He also used one trolley specifically for fresh meat, fruits, vegetables, and some live fish.
He wanted to test whether his Alternate Space had any special effects on storing fresh produce.
The three trolleys were fully loaded, and Zhang Yi handed the one filled with beef, lamb, and canned goods to the two women to push.
It must have weighed at least four to five hundred jin1, leaving them drenched in sweat.
Fang Yuqing couldn’t help but complain, pouting as she said, “Zhang Yi, how many people are you feeding with all this? Are you planning some event you haven’t told me about?”
Zhang Yi sneered and replied, “The weather is unpredictable. What if the apocalypse hits someday? I’m just stocking up to survive!”
Zhang Yi was speaking the truth, but no one would believe him.
Fang Yuqing thought Zhang Yi was joking and burst out laughing. “Oh, come on! If you don’t want to tell me, just say so. Why make up such a joke?”
“But since I helped you so much today, you’ll have to treat me to a meal later, okay?”
Her eyes were full of suggestion, clearly hoping Zhang Yi would take her to a Michelin Three-Star restaurant.
Zhang Yi’s lips curled slightly. “Sure, but I’ve been pretty busy lately. How about next month?”
Fang Yuqing beamed. “Great! It’s a deal!”
Lin Caining quickly chimed in, “Yay! Let’s all go together, Hehe!”
She was thrilled at the idea of getting a fancy meal just for pushing a trolley.
Seeing how oblivious Lin Caining was, Fang Yuqing shot her another glare.
But Lin Caining pretended not to notice.
Zhang Yi went to check out, and this shopping spree cost him over ten thousand yuan.
He paid without batting an eye.
After all, in the apocalypse, the value of these supplies would increase tens of thousands of times-they would be priceless.
Because no matter how much money you had, it might not buy you a single bite of food.
Since Zhang Yi had bought so much, the supermarket gladly lent him the trolleys to use.
Zhang Yi didn’t hesitate to make the two women work, having them push the supplies back to his place.
He actually had a car and could have driven the goods home himself.
But with free labor at hand, why not use it?
Although the two women kept complaining about how tired they were, Zhang Yi’s promise of a fancy meal soon motivated them.
And so, the three of them pushed three fully loaded trolleys of supplies back to the neighborhood.
