I Really Have X-ray Superpower - Chapter 8 - The All-disease Pill

At the city hospital, Ye Tian had just stepped out of his car when he saw Nie Feng waiting anxiously at the entrance. Gone was the condescending demeanor he had when he tried to drive Ye Tian away with money. Now, Nie Feng looked visibly worn out and much older.

“Uncle, how did Xiaoyue suddenly end up in critical condition? Can you tell me what happened?”

Nie Feng recounted the situation to Ye Tian. It turned out that Nie Xiaoyue had drunk alcohol and fainted earlier. After regaining consciousness, she overheard her mother mentioning that Nie Feng had attempted to use money to get rid of Ye Tian, essentially forcing him to leave. This revelation caused Xiaoyue to feel heartbroken and furious, leading to another fainting episode. Though she had been rescued in the nick of time, the doctors admitted there was nothing more they could do. In desperation, Nie Feng had called Ye Tian for help.

Ye Tian followed Nie Feng to the door of Nie Xiaoyue’s ward.

“Tian, this time, it’s all my fault. As long as Xiaoyue can pull through, I’ll listen to whatever she wants. Please, I’m asking you… please stay by Xiaoyue’s side for the next few days.” Nie Feng’s voice was filled with a father’s regret and the helpless despair of being unable to ease his daughter’s suffering.

“Uncle, don’t worry. Xiaoyue will be fine,” Ye Tian reassured him.

Pushing the door open, Ye Tian saw Nie Xiaoyue with a bright smile on her face, chatting cheerfully with her mother. She looked so happy that it was hard to believe she was a girl in the prime of her youth, yet staring down the specter of death.

“Xiaoyue, are you alright? How are you feeling?”

Seeing Ye Tian enter, Nie Xiaoyue’s mother quietly left the room, hoping her daughter’s remaining time could be spent in happiness.

“I’m fine! My body feels great!” Nie Xiaoyue said with determination. “When I get better, let’s go have some fun, alright? First, I want to go to the Maldives to see the ocean. Then, we can visit Big Ben in England. And after that, go to Egypt and ride the Sphinx!”

As she spoke, she waved her small fists playfully at Ye Tian, trying to show him how strong she was. Yet, her face betrayed a hint of regret that was hard to mask.

Looking at Xiaoyue, Ye Tian felt an ache in his heart. Here was a girl in her blossoming youth, with so many dreams and her whole life ahead of her, yet her days were numbered because of the tumor pressing against her heart.

At that moment, Ye Tian silently swore he would save Nie Xiaoyue, no matter what it took. But how? With what? Even the best doctors at the city hospital had no solutions.

Ye Tian’s eyes locked onto Xiaoyue’s chest, focusing on the dark tumor beneath. If only that mass could be removed, Xiaoyue might regain her health-he might be able to save her.

Just then, a flash of mystic light sparked in Ye Tian’s mind, as if inspiration had struck him out of nowhere. Without thinking, he instinctively reached out and pressed his hand against Nie Xiaoyue’s chest.

“Ah! What are you doing, you pervert? You’re bullying me!”

Blushing furiously, Xiaoyue quickly backed away. Although she didn’t dislike Ye Tian, his sudden move had startled her.

“Ah… ah, sorry about that! Is the tumor located right here?”

Ye Tian’s serious expression made Nie Xiaoyue believe that he hadn’t meant to take advantage of her earlier.

“How do you know that? At the class reunion the other day, when you suddenly asked if I was sick… was it because you already knew about the tumor near my heart?”

Nie Xiaoyue widened her eyes and stared at Ye Tian, waiting for him to explain.

“Xiaoyue, actually, my eyes have developed the ability to see through things-X-ray vision, if you will. I only discovered this recently. Please help me keep this a secret, alright? I don’t want anyone finding out and dragging me off for research or something.”

Trusting that Nie Xiaoyue wouldn’t reveal his secret, Ye Tian recounted the whole story. Xiaoyue listened, her face filled with disbelief, as her wide eyes remained fixed on him.

“Xiaoyue, I might have a way to save you. Do you trust me?”

Nie Xiaoyue simply nodded softly and said, “Mm, I trust you.”

In that fleeting moment of mystic light within his mind, Ye Tian had suddenly been struck with inspiration. Though he wasn’t entirely sure why, a solution to help Nie Xiaoyue had presented itself in his thoughts.

The All-disease Pill that Ye Tian had won at the auction hall earlier had properties that improved blood circulation, removed blood clots, and strengthened the body. It could help slow the spread of Nie Xiaoyue’s tumor and temporarily suppress it. However, completely removing the tumor was another matter-Ye Tian didn’t have the ability to do that yet. The tumor’s proximity to her heart made it nearly impossible, as modern medical technology wasn’t advanced enough to perform such a precise surgery.

Ye Tian took out the All-disease Pill, preparing to give it to Nie Xiaoyue. At that moment, her primary physician, Hua Zaisheng, walked into the ward for a routine check-up and saw Ye Tian attempting to administer the pill.

“She can’t take that! Young man, Miss Nie is my patient. What if something happens to her after taking your pill? Can you take responsibility for the consequences?” Hua Zaisheng barked.

“Taking the All-disease Pill can slow down Xiaoyue’s condition,” Ye Tian replied calmly. “If something happens, I’ll take full responsibility.”

Ye Tian didn’t bother to argue with Hua Zaisheng further. Just then, Xiaoyue’s parents, having heard the commotion, entered the ward as well. Nie Feng, looking visibly concerned, couldn’t help but ask:

“Tian, does this pill truly have the ability to save Xiaoyue? Will she get better if she takes it?”

“Uncle,” Ye Tian explained patiently, “this All-disease Pill is something I bought at the auction hall. It’s known for its ability to improve blood circulation, remove blood clots, and strengthen the body. While it won’t cure Xiaoyue’s condition, it can help slow down the disease and suppress the spread of the tumor.”

“I do have a way to save Xiaoyue,” Ye Tian continued, “but I don’t yet have the ability to carry it out. For now, the All-disease Pill is the best option we have to keep the tumor in check.”

“Hmph, even I, Hua Zaisheng, couldn’t tackle this case, and now a kid like you dares to claim you can save her life? And you’re relying on some mysterious pill to suppress the tumor’s spread? Mr. Nie, I suggest you don’t put blind faith in his words. If anything happens to Miss Nie, it will have nothing to do with our hospital-and certainly nothing to do with me.”

“Dad, I trust Ye Tian. He wouldn’t lie to me.”

After speaking, Nie Xiaoyue quickly swallowed the pill. Hua Zaisheng, seeing that he couldn’t stop her from taking the All-disease Pill, panicked. Nie Xiaoyue was his patient, and if any complications arose from the medication, it could escalate into a medical malpractice case. Not only would this derail his impending promotion to deputy director, but it might also cost him his current position as the chief of Internal Medicine.

“Mr. Nie, either you take Miss Nie right now to induce vomiting and remove the pill, or you find another hospital immediately. I refuse to let my reputation of a lifetime be ruined by your gamble.”

“Doctor Hua, how about we make a little bet? If, in half an hour, Xiaoyue’s condition improves, the title of ‘the first miracle doctor of Huanan City’ will go to me. But if her condition shows no improvement, I’ll willingly let Uncle Nie deal with me however he wishes-even if it means my life.”

Ye Tian’s taunting gaze rested on Hua Zaisheng. He knew full well that Hua Zaisheng prided himself on his talent. From a young age, he had been a prodigy raised with an elite education, and everything had gone smoothly for him after returning to the country. He had earned the title of “the first miracle doctor of Huanan City.” Being openly challenged by Ye Tian enraged Hua Zaisheng, and in his fury, he agreed to the bet.

Thirty minutes later, Nie Xiaoyue went for an X-ray examination. Another hour passed before the results came back.

When Hua Zaisheng received the results, he could hardly believe his eyes.

“This is impossible… no, this can’t be happening! But there really is improvement. What on earth was in that pill you gave her?”

“Haha, looks like I’ll be the new ‘first miracle doctor of Huanan City’ from now on. Don’t you agree, Doctor Hua?”

With a smug grin, Ye Tian glanced at Hua Zaisheng, then ignored him entirely and walked towards Nie Xiaoyue and her family.
