Ye Tian accompanied Nie Xiaoyue’s family to complete the hospital transfer procedures, making the family feel a bit uneasy and insisting there was no need for him to go through the trouble.

However, Ye Tian was genuinely concerned about Nie Xiaoyue’s condition, so he felt it was something he had to do. After all, his relationship with her was no longer just that of simple classmates.

It wasn’t until all the paperwork was completed that Ye Tian finally took his leave. In fact, Nie Feng had wanted Ye Tian to stay for dinner so that they could properly thank him. But Ye Tian politely declined. Truthfully, he’d been longing for some peace and quiet these past few days-ever since he acquired the X-ray superpower, he still hadn’t fully understood the extent of its abilities.

“Ye Tian, it’s getting late. Why don’t I ask my dad to give you a ride home?” Nie Xiaoyue said as she approached him, taking his hand before he left.

Feeling the warmth of her hand, Ye Tian thought of her enduring illness, and it pained him. “No need to trouble your father,” he said gently. “I can get back on my own.”

A faint blush spread across Nie Xiaoyue’s face, and she nodded shyly. “Alright, then. Be careful on your way home. And… thank you for everything today.”

Ye Tian nodded in response. At the girl’s insistence, he accompanied her for a short walk before they reluctantly parted ways.

By the time Ye Tian was near his house, night had completely fallen. A chilly breeze swept through, and, out of nowhere, he suddenly felt a deep, bone-chilling cold.

“What’s going on?” Ye Tian shivered, a sense of unease creeping into his heart.

This feeling was unlike his usual sixth sense-it felt vivid and real. It left him convinced that something bad was about to happen.

Just then, a gust of force came rushing toward him. Ye Tian instinctively ducked forward and narrowly dodged the attack.

“Not bad, young man. You’ve got some pretty quick reflexes!” A few men emerged from the shadows. Leading them was a strong man with tattoos covering his body and a long wooden club in his hands. The ambush Ye Tian had dodged a moment ago was, in fact, a strike from the man’s club.

Ye Tian’s heart sank. These men had garish, multicolored hair, cigarettes dangling from their mouths, and an unmistakable air of trouble around them. Their hostile stares radiated malice, and it was clear they meant him no good.

“Who are you?” Ye Tian couldn’t help but ask, even though the group of thugs looked like they meant him harm. However, he couldn’t recall ever crossing them.

Upon hearing this, several people burst into laughter. The strong man even revealed a sinister smile, “Young man, don’t blame us. Blame yourself for offending someone you shouldn’t have. You were pretty quick just now; almost didn’t see that coming.”

But the strong man quickly changed his tone: “However, even if you’re agile, you won’t be able to escape.”

Ye Tian had a bad feeling. This group seemed skilled in combat, and from their tone, it didn’t sound like things would end well. He glanced around, realizing his neighborhood was secluded and currently deserted, surrounded on all sides, making it difficult for him to break out.

“I don’t recall offending any of you, who exactly are you?” Although Ye Tian said this, he was constantly looking for an opportunity to escape. Although his superpower allowed him to perform some miraculous actions, he didn’t believe he could take on a group of thugs.

The strong man seemed quite pleased with himself, smirking, “Young man, since you’re at death’s door, I don’t mind telling you that Long-Ge isn’t exactly a kind-hearted person. Since you’ve offended Doctor Hua, don’t even think about getting away!”

Ye Tian was stunned; it was Hua Zaisheng. He hadn’t expected that the so-called first miracle doctor of Huanan City was not only shameless but also resorted to such low tactics.

However, as much as he thought about this, his actions were not slow, knowing that the thugs had let their guard down while Long-Ge was speaking, which was his only chance.

Yes, Ye Tian made his move. He wasn’t foolish enough to harbor any illusions of mercy from these overtly hostile people. As Long-Ge was speaking, he had already thrown a punch straight at his face!

Long-Ge clearly hadn’t expected Ye Tian to strike at such a moment. Indeed, if it had been the old Ye Tian, trapped by thugs, he would have been scared out of his wits. But this Ye Tian was different.

The thugs snapped out of their shock. Clearly, they had not expected Ye Tian’s punch, especially since they knew better than anyone how fierce Long-Ge could be. They had never imagined that Ye Tian would dare strike Long-Ge.

“Young man, stop! You’re dead, daring to hit Long-Ge!” The group immediately started chasing after Ye Tian.

Ye Tian managed to break out of the thugs’ encirclement, but before he could catch his breath, a group was already hot on his heels.

Although he had acquired superpowers and possessed extraordinary abilities, he was still just a frail high school student physically. In terms of stamina, he was still at a disadvantage compared to the thugs who fought regularly.

After running for a while, Ye Tian’s stamina began to falter, and the thugs had caught up, closing in on him.

“Young man, thought you could run? Let’s see where you can go now!” Long-Ge saw Ye Tian slowing down, a confident smile spreading across his face.

By then, the thug closest to Ye Tian had caught up with him. Without hesitation, he raised his foot and aimed a kick at Ye Tian’s back.

Ye Tian was startled and swiftly dodged to the right, avoiding the kick. However, this move had successfully bought some time, and the other thugs had caught up and surrounded him.

“Beat him! Beat him to death, and today we must break this kid’s legs!” Long-Ge commanded fiercely.

Hearing their leader’s order, the thugs closed in from all sides, raising their arms and legs ready to strike.
