I Am Really Rich - Chapter 8 - Doing Whatever I Want in the Entertainment Circle
A black Maybach was parked at the entrance of Sublimotion. Shi Xing sat in the back seat, her face clouded with displeasure.
“Host, after my precise calculations, there’s a 99% chance that Guan Tian’s call will drive the plot forward,” the System informed her.
Shi Xing’s expression darkened further as she spoke into the phone, “Alright, I’ll meet you. Where’s the location?… Got it.” She hung up, her mood visibly sour.
She had just arrived at the restaurant entrance, having reserved a spot through her secretary, but hadn’t even set foot inside Sublimotion when the little bunny called her. And according to the System’s calculations, it seemed she couldn’t avoid this meeting.
Shi Xing tossed her phone aside and turned to Wen Xiangling, who was seated next to her. “Sorry, something urgent came up, and I won’t be able to…”
“Then, I hope there will be another opportunity for dinner with President Shi,” Wen Xiangling replied.
“I’ll have someone take you back.”
“No need to trouble President Shi; I can find my own way,” he said with a knowing smile. He leaned in slightly, whispering in her ear, “Until next time, President Shi.”
With that, he smiled, opened the car door, and stepped out. As the car started moving, Shi Xing watched out the window for a while. Only when Wen Xiangling’s figure completely disappeared did she sigh and rub her temples.
“Host, what’s wrong?” the System asked.
“What do you think?” Shi Xing gritted her teeth. “Because of a little bunny, I lost my dinner date with the pretty boy!”
“Host, please don’t be too upset… You could think of the little bunny and the pretty boy as the same…” the System suggested timidly.
“Shut up!”
“Host, impulsiveness is the devil! Besides, it was Guan Tian who chose this time to meet you… not me…” the System added, “Remember, grievances have a source, don’t blame me.”
“You’re right,” Shi Xing laughed coldly. “Grievances have a source… Little bunny, it seems I need to meet you properly.”
“Exactly, Host. Are we heading to the café now?”
“Yes, let’s go…” Shi Xing lifted her gaze, glancing out the car window. In that brief moment, she was momentarily stunned.
A stretch Bentley was on a different road, and inside, she thought she saw a familiar face. Someone who had just been beside her.
“What’s wrong?” the System asked.
“…Nothing, maybe I was mistaken.” Shi Xing rubbed her eyes. “Let’s go to the café.”
Inside the quiet café, the few patrons paused their activities, turning their attention to a corner.
At a table in the corner sat two people: a pure-looking girl in a white dress and a stunning, elegant woman. The atmosphere was a bit awkward.
“Um, Shi Xing-Jie…” Guan Tian tugged at her dress, speaking first. “Should we change locations? There are too many people here…”
“What does it matter?” Shi Xing sipped her coffee. “Did you invite me here to say something that others shouldn’t hear?”
“Well…” Guan Tian hesitated, lowering her voice. “It’s like this.”
She glanced around nervously before whispering, “What I’m about to say involves some industry secrets, so I’m worried others might overhear…”
“Just say it to me?”
“Because I want to help Shi Xing-Jie, so I’ll only tell you.”
Shi Xing put down her coffee. “Speak.”
“The person I mentioned on the phone, Wang Xueru, is my senior sister. She’s very manipulative in private and often bullies me…”
Guan Tian paused, clutching her dress in frustration. “Even though she bullies me, as long as it doesn’t affect innocent people, I’m willing to bear it. But today…”
“What happened today?”
“She seemed very happy, and she didn’t even mock me! I think she must have found a new target to scheme against,” Guan Tian quickly raised her head. “I thought about how she said she was going to find you yesterday, so I wondered if…”
Shi Xing raised an eyebrow, remaining silent.
Her demeanor seemed to acknowledge it, yet she appeared so composed that Guan Tian couldn’t discern what she was thinking.
It couldn’t be…
Could it?
Wang Xueru must have confronted Shi Xing yesterday, and she must have come out on top. So why wasn’t she angry?
Why could she remain so unfazed?
Was it… not enough to provoke her?
Guan Tian bit her lip, speaking softly, “I don’t want innocent people to get hurt. I know I’m foolish, but if my foolishness can help everyone, especially Lin Yi-Ge…”
Her eyes reddened, and she sniffled, “Lin Yi-Ge always says I’m so naive, getting tricked without realizing it, so I want him to be happy. But Senior Sister Xueru…”
She took out a handkerchief, gently wiping her tears, and continued, “She actually tried to seduce Lin Yi-Ge!”
Shi Xing finally reacted.
Though it was just a slight adjustment of her hair, to Guan Tian, it seemed effective.
Indeed, Lin Yi was the best way to get a reaction.
“I’ve always seen Lin Yi-Ge as a brother. I can be in the entertainment circle like this because Lin Yi-Ge protected me. But Senior Sister Xueru can’t make Lin Yi-Ge happy. Shi Xing-Jie, I know you like Lin Yi-Ge, so…”
Guan Tian stood up, resolutely declaring, “Only you, only you can make Lin Yi happy!”
Her voice was loud, and as she slammed the table, the cup on it shook-
With a “clatter,” it fell to the ground.
It shattered.
The café fell silent.
The few patrons slowly turned their heads, once again focusing their gaze on the scene.
Soon, whispers began to circulate.
“Hey, what’s going on here?”
“No idea, last time I saw something like this, it was over a guy…”
“Can’t be, right? Look at that woman, she’s so beautiful, would she really fight over a guy with someone else…”
…
The murmurs reached them.
Guan Tian gritted her teeth, stubbornly staring at Shi Xing.
Finally, after a long meeting, Shi Xing spoke her first words.
“Are you done?”
Guan Tian was taken aback.
“Have you finished?” Shi Xing lazily sipped her coffee. “Anything else you want to say?”
Guan Tian couldn’t grasp the meaning behind her words and stammered, “No… Shi Xing-Jie, Senior Sister Xueru…”
“I understand.” Shi Xing smiled. “She tried to seduce Lin Yi, right?”
“Yes!”
“And I believe she’s also part of the ‘Orange Turmoil’ crew, right?”
Guan Tian was delighted and quickly responded, “Yes, she is.”
Lin Yi was the male lead in “Orange Turmoil,” with Shi Xing as the female lead, and Wang Xueru had a significant supporting role. From Shi Xing’s tone…
She watched Shi Xing closely, seeing her place her phone on the table, dialing a number, and putting it on speaker.
Soon, a familiar voice came through.
“Hello, hello, is this President Shi? What’s the occasion for calling me now?”
“Hello, Director Chen,” Shi Xing tapped her coffee cup. “I’m calling to discuss something about the actors.”
Guan Tian was thrilled.
She had guessed right.
It worked!
It worked!
Wang Xueru seducing Lin Yi had indeed angered Shi Xing!
She had guessed correctly, and Shi Xing’s inquiry about Wang Xueru being in the “Orange Turmoil” crew was exactly what she thought!
“Oh, what’s wrong? What’s up with the actors?”
“About the actors, I was thinking about something…”
Guan Tian eagerly watched her, waiting for her to say “remove Wang Xueru,” and in the next moment-
“I was thinking,” Shi Xing smiled, “whether to remove the male lead or the female lead, or…”
She raised an eyebrow, “Remove both, wouldn’t that be best?”
