I Am Really Rich - Chapter 22 - Doing Whatever I Want in the Entertainment Circle
Lin Yi felt as if a hammer had struck him squarely on the head.
Collaboration…
Shi Xing had joined forces with Huashi Media.
Shi Xing had actually partnered with Huashi Media!
He knew the extent of Shi Xing’s financial power. Even if she were to fund Huashi Media’s investments for the next hundred years, she could easily afford it.
And Huashi Media, as the top-tier talent agency, had resources spanning both domestic and international markets. With their collaboration-
Was there even room left for anyone else in the entertainment circle?
Lin Yi opened his mouth, his voice trembling slightly. “They’ve partnered up…”
“Yes. So your resources…” Huang Minglin trailed off, but Lin Yi already understood.
The fact that the hot search couldn’t be suppressed no matter what measures were taken, the sudden withdrawal of roles he’d already secured, the abrupt contract terminations by investors-
All of it pointed back to Shi Xing.
And behind her, the relentless push of Huashi Media.
Lin Yi felt a wave of despair wash over him.
Frustration, regret, anger-they all churned inside him. Yet he knew, deep down, that he was nearly powerless against them.
But he couldn’t let Shi Xing lead him around by the nose like this!
Clenching his teeth, Lin Yi asked, “How many shows have I already wrapped up?”
“Two. One of them, ‘Bystander,’ is scheduled to air on Tianyu TV three months from now during the summer break.”
“I remember you mentioned you’re quite close with the director of Tianyu TV, right?”
Huang Minglin nodded quickly. “The director is a relative of mine. We’re pretty close.”
Lin Yi let out a cold laugh. “I have an idea.”
He knew Shi Xing’s plan was to cut off all his resources. But even with her partnership with Huashi Media, this process would take time.
And time-
Was the perfect remedy for audiences to forget scandals and controversies.
While directors and investors might avoid him to steer clear of trouble, the shows he’d already completed-
Those could still be salvaged!
If he could keep those intact, he might be able to use them to stage a comeback, waiting for the storm to pass and reclaim his position.
“Shi Xing and Huashi are focusing on blocking my resources. The director of Tianyu TV-he’s beyond their reach for now.”
Huang Minglin hesitated. “Are you saying…”
“You’re his relative, and I’m your actor. There’s no way he’d just stand by and do nothing.” Lin Yi sneered. “So, have him move up the airing of ‘Bystander.’ Make it premiere tomorrow.”
Huang Minglin froze for a moment before catching on. He quickly nodded. “Got it! I’ll contact him right away and have ‘Bystander’ moved to the 7 PM slot tomorrow!”
Lin Yi nodded, a cold smile spreading across his face.
Shi Xing and Wen Xiangling, huh?
You may have blocked my resources for now, but-
When it comes to a head-to-head battle-
Lin Yi sneered. “I won’t let you win.”
Rain gently tapped against the floor-to-ceiling windows of the studio’s top floor.
The weather outside was cool and overcast, mirroring the chilly atmosphere within.
On the massive LCD screen, a drama was playing.
As the credits rolled, a bold line of text appeared-
“‘Bystander,’ starring Lin Yi.”
…
Shi Xing turned off the TV.
[Host… Host…]
Shi Xing stared out at the cloudy sky, her face expressionless.
She had already had Lin Yi’s resources and completed projects thoroughly investigated. The two shows he’d wrapped up were scheduled to air no sooner than three months later.
Because of this, she had decisively chosen to target Lin Yi’s resources first.
But now…
“Why did it suddenly premiere?”
[Host, your happiness value is plummeting! Please stay calm! Stay calm, we can still win!]
“Are you trying to drive me mad? Hurry up and investigate!”
[Don’t be mad, don’t be mad… Ah, ah, ah, I’ve found it.]
“Speak.”
[The show ‘Bystander’ is airing on Tianyu TV. The current director of Tianyu TV, Wang Lin, has some familial ties to Lin Yi’s agent, Huang Minglin.]
Shi Xing narrowed her eyes.
That explained it.
Tianyu TV was no small player; it wouldn’t disrupt its programming schedule just to accommodate Lin Yi.
But with Huang Minglin’s connection to the director, things became less predictable.
She had planned to use the TV stations to block Lin Yi, but her focus had been on his resources first. She hadn’t expected Lin Yi to exploit this loophole-
He had managed to slip through.
“The director of Tianyu TV, huh…”
[Host, should we contact President Wen?]
“No need. I can handle this. Send me Wang Lin’s preferences.”
[Okay… Let me check… Ah, Host, are you planning to meet Wang Lin?]
“Yes. I had intended to meet him eventually, but given this opportunity, I might as well move up the timeline.”
[But Host, he has familial ties to Huang Minglin. Are you sure you can… handle this alone?]
“Is there anything in this world that can’t be solved with money?”
[Well… Maybe there are a few things?]
Shi Xing stood up, slipping on her coat with a smile. “A few? Then there’s only one explanation-”
“The money wasn’t enough.”
With that, she raised an eyebrow, opened the studio door, and walked out with a confident stride.
Wang Lin, the director of Tianyu TV, was in his early thirties and had recently inherited the position from his father.
His preferences: money and beautiful women.
…
“Well, those preferences aren’t too different from mine.”
Shi Xing smirked, pressing the elevator button.
When she first reached out to Wang Lin, he seemed reluctant to meet.
But upon hearing her name, Wang Lin suddenly changed his tune and agreed, inviting her to meet in Tianyu TV’s break room.
Now, she was on her way to Tianyu TV’s break room to meet Wang Lin.
She stepped into the elevator, heading to the eleventh floor.
The door to the break room was wide open, its interior illuminated by colorful lights. Shi Xing glanced at the open door and walked in.
Inside, Wang Lin was seated on a sofa, swirling a glass of red wine.
Dressed in a suit, he looked polished on the surface but carried an air of sleaziness.
When Wang Lin saw Shi Xing enter, his eyes lit up. He stared at her for a long moment before enthusiastically getting up to greet her.
“Ah, President Shi, you’re finally here. I’ve been eagerly awaiting your arrival.”
Shi Xing replied coolly, “Director Wang.”
“Please, have a seat.” Wang Lin smiled. “I saw you once during an interview, and I was absolutely stunned. I must say, you’re even more beautiful in person!”
Shi Xing frowned slightly.
“Ah, you must be tired from the journey. What would you like to drink? I’ll have it prepared for you right away…”
“No need.” Shi Xing sat down on the sofa, brushing her hair aside. “Director Wang, my time is valuable. Let’s get straight to the point, shall we?”
“Oh, President Shi, that’s no way to look at it!” Wang Lin shook his head. “Enjoying oneself isn’t a waste of time. Surely you can spare half an hour-how precious could your time really be?”
Shi Xing chuckled lightly. “Not very precious.”
“Then let’s-”
“Half an hour is worth about two million to me.”
Wang Lin’s expression shifted.
He adjusted his smile, set the wine glass aside, and returned to the sofa.
“Director Wang, I’ll keep it brief.” Shi Xing smiled. “The person I want to discuss today is Lin Yi.”
“Lin Yi?” Wang Lin paused. “Are you here to advocate for his resources?”
“No, quite the opposite. I want his show to be pulled from the air immediately and permanently.”
Wang Lin hesitated before laughing. “President Shi, you must be joking. I don’t have the authority to-”
“You have the authority to reschedule. That means you have the authority to pull it.”
“But that’s not the same thing. I paid for the rights; I can’t just-”
“I’ll cover all the damages and double the compensation.”
“Even so-”
Shi Xing raised an eyebrow and handed him a check.
Wang Lin fell silent.
His gaze lingered on the check, drawn to the staggering amount written on it.
Although he was the director, his father’s oversight meant he couldn’t spend recklessly.
But this check-this enormous, enticing check-was a temptation he couldn’t resist.
-It was impossible not to be moved.
Shi Xing smiled. “Director Wang, does this satisfy you?”
Wang Lin stared at the check, silent for a moment before breaking into a smile. “I understand your intentions, President Shi. But you must know, Lin Yi’s agent is a relative of mine. I can’t just go back on my word, can I?”
Shi Xing raised an eyebrow.
Wang Lin’s eyes gleamed with calculation, clearly scheming something else.
Though he was an unprincipled second-generation heir, he was still a director-
It seemed he couldn’t be underestimated.
“Then, Director Wang, what else do you require?”
“Aside from money, there’s one other thing I enjoy…” He stood up, slowly approaching Shi Xing, his gaze fixed on her stunningly beautiful face.
Her face was flawless, her features so exquisite they seemed almost unreal.
Wang Lin’s smile grew more infatuated as he leaned closer. “President Shi, since you know I love money, you must also know I love beautiful women, right?”
Shi Xing lifted her eyes slightly, smiling. “Of course.”
Her smile was captivating, her lips curving in a way that was both alluring and elegant.
Wang Lin chuckled, leaning in closer. “Since you understand, then if you’re willing to spend a night with me, I’ll do as you ask. How about it?”
