I Am Really Rich - Chapter 10 - Doing Whatever I Want in the Entertainment Circle
The café was unusually quiet.
Most of the patrons had already left, leaving only one person sitting in the corner.
She clutched her skirt tightly, her eyes wide with anger.
“Shi Xing… she actually replaced the protagonists…”
Thinking about how just one phone call from her was enough to have both her and Lin Yi-Ge’s roles replaced, she felt both fear and fury.
Lin Yi-Ge valued this movie immensely, but he had other resources to fall back on. She, however, could only rely on Lin Yi-Ge.
To be so casually removed…
“Lin Yi-Ge will never forgive you!” Guan Tian fumed as she pulled out her phone and quickly dialed a number.
The phone rang twice before it was answered.
“Lin Yi-Ge!”
“…Tian?”
“It’s me! I just got notified about the protagonist replacement…” Guan Tian paused, her voice tinged with a sob, “I was completely stunned, what on earth is going…”
Lin Yi’s voice was low, “You just found out?”
“Yes, my agent just told me we were both replaced…” Guan Tian sniffled, “This is my only movie right now, I don’t know why I was replaced, but if I am…”
Lin Yi’s voice turned cold, “Have you lied enough?”
Guan Tian’s sobs halted.
“You went to see Shi Xing, didn’t you? You saw her, didn’t you?” Lin Yi’s voice was sharp, “You clearly met her, yet you lied to me saying you just found out?”
“I… it’s not like that,” Guan Tian’s mind went blank, and she quickly shook her head, “I only met her because Senior Sister Xueru wanted to cause trouble for her, I just wanted to help…”
The other end of the line was silent.
“Really, Lin Yi-Ge, don’t you believe me anymore?” Guan Tian cried, “When have I ever lied to you? Am I that kind of person?”
Lin Yi fell silent.
Yes, Tian wasn’t that kind of person.
She was strong, optimistic, and kind. Even if the whole world turned bad, she would still remain untainted.
But…
Shi Xing.
Shi Xing loved him so much, if she were to replace a protagonist, it would only be Guan Tian, why would she replace him too?
Unless someone threatened her, someone provoked her, she wouldn’t do this, because this movie was initially-
invested in solely for him.
“Lin Yi-Ge, Lin Yi-Ge? Do you still not believe me…”
“…Let’s talk about this later.” Lin Yi paused, “For now, don’t contact me.”
“Wait, Lin Yi-Ge! What about me?” Guan Tian hurriedly said, “With ‘Orange Turmoil’ gone, my new resources…”
Before she could finish, she heard the merciless “beep beep” of a disconnected call.
Guan Tian angrily slammed her phone down.
Being publicly humiliated by Shi Xing, having the protagonist role taken away, losing Lin Yi-Ge’s resources-why had it come to this?
She gritted her teeth, “Shi Xing…!”
In the highest studio of the building, sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
“Orange Turmoil Crew: Hello, viewers. Due to scheduling conflicts, the film’s male and female leads will be replaced. The new actors are yet to be determined, but if you have any favorite characters, feel free to leave a comment and vote.”
“Potato Stew Beef: No way?! Wasn’t there a lot of promotion before? This scheduling is too coincidental, isn’t it?”
“Every Time I Eat a Mango, I Lose a Little Boy: Huh? Both male and female leads are being replaced? Replacing two at once?”
…
[Host, the protagonist replacement of ‘Orange Turmoil’ is trending!]
“The public opinion is taking effect.”
Shi Xing turned slightly, looking out at the bustling city through the window.
[Oh, and look at this,] the System pulled up a webpage for her, [Lin Yi’s fans seem to be cursing under the official blog…]
Shi Xing raised an eyebrow and began reading the comments under the official blog.
“Why replace Lin Yi?! If it’s a scheduling issue, why say replacement?!”
“Yeah! I was looking forward to this movie because of Lin Yi, okay?”
“Without Lin Yi, I really don’t know what else there is to promote in this movie!”
…
Shi Xing scrolled through the comments with interest.
‘Orange Turmoil’ was a significant turning point for Lin Yi’s transition into acting, so there had been a lot of publicity praising his transformation. Now, suddenly saying it’s due to scheduling and replacing him-
Of course, the fans were not happy.
But the crew had stated it was a “scheduling issue,” yet they were still so aggressive, Shi Xing found it amusing.
[Host, the fans are making quite a fuss, what should we do? Director Chen…]
“Let them make a fuss,” Shi Xing said nonchalantly, “Oh, and by the way, help them get on the trending list.”
[Huh? Get what trending?]
“Without Lin Yi, there’s no ‘Orange Turmoil’ and boycott ‘Orange Turmoil’ for Lin Yi.”
[…Host, you’re ruthless.]
“Alright, just wait and see. But during this waiting period, I need to meet someone.”
[Who?]
Shi Xing smiled, “My little spy.”
After Old Baldy and Little Bunny, the little spy finally made an appearance.
Wang Xueru, wearing a red strapless dress, saw Shi Xing already waiting on the sofa and quickly sashayed over, “President Shi, President Shi, sorry to keep you waiting.”
“No worries,” Shi Xing lounged lazily on the sofa, “Do you have something to report?”
“Ah, yes, have you heard? Guan Tian’s resources, Lin Yi had them revoked.”
Shi Xing raised an eyebrow, intrigued, “Revoked?”
“Yes, yes,” Wang Xueru recounted her deeds to Shi Xing, ending with a smug note, “I heard from my agent that Guan Tian even called him to ask why, and guess what he said?”
“What?”
Wang Xueru said mysteriously, “He said, by revoking her resources, Shi Xing would believe him.”
Shi Xing chuckled softly, “You did well.”
“Thank you for the compliment, President Shi.” Wang Xueru was quite pleased with herself, “Now that Guan Tian has lost Lin Yi, her career is severely impacted. But President Shi, about Lin Yi, I don’t seem to be able to sway him much…”
“For now, you don’t need to move against him. But…”
Shi Xing fell into thought.
Indeed, Guan Tian’s backing was Lin Yi, and without Lin Yi, it was easy to undermine Guan Tian.
But Lin Yi had been in the industry for eight years, and two years ago, he had already started paving the way for contract termination, with plenty of resources at his disposal.
She had money, but that didn’t mean she could buy out every director and producer in the entertainment circle.
After all, the root of removing the roles in ‘Orange Turmoil’-
was simply because she had invested heavily in it.
“Seems like it’s time to find a partner.”
“President Shi, if you’re looking for a partnership, how about considering a collaboration with our company?”
“Huashi Media?”
Wang Xueru nodded eagerly.
As a top talent agency, Huashi Media was thriving in the industry, with endless resources and financial power, making it the best choice for collaboration.
In other words…
Choosing a hundred talent agencies wouldn’t compare to choosing one Huashi Media.
Shi Xing smiled, “When is your president available? I’d like to meet them.”
“Our president is attending a business banquet tonight.”
“Will they be there?”
Wang Xueru nodded, “If you have time, President Shi, you can meet our president there!”
