Good Night, Mr. Ghost - Chapter 80
Mr. Ghost was in an exceptionally good mood. He carefully closed the door and sat down in the lobby to start handling some work. He absolutely couldn’t watch Chenyi sleep; otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to resist climbing into bed to hold him and drift off himself. Such a sweet dilemma.
With a sweet smile, Mr. Ghost began going through the emails in his inbox. He had to be at the office by one in the afternoon, so as long as he got there before then, it was fine. He checked the time-it was already 11:40.
Once the porridge was done, it would be around noon. Then he could wake Chenyi up, have lunch together, and head to work. Perfect, satisfying.
When the porridge was ready, just as he had imagined, Mr. Ghost went upstairs to rouse the young man. Jiang was still half-asleep, pushing against Meng Loudi’s face with a soft, sleepy strength, mumbling, “No, I want to sleep. You go to work by yourself.”
“Come with me, Chenyi, come on. If you don’t come with me, I won’t go today,” Mr. Ghost pouted, half-threatening, while continuously kissing his fingers.
Jiang Chenyi: “…dog man.”
He really couldn’t hold back.
It was the first time Jiang Chenyi had called him that, and Meng Loudi was momentarily stunned. Then, tears welled up in his eyes. His acting deserved an Oscar.
Jiang looked at Mr. Ghost, who instantly appeared like a weeping flower, and felt a pang in his heart. This was too much.
Mr. Ghost sobbed, “I’m sorry, Chenyi, boo hoo.”
Jiang Chenyi: “…”
Stop crying, I feel like crying too. Really.
The young man watched the tall, six-foot-two dog man cry like a wronged little wife and felt speechless, yet amused. But if he laughed now, it would end badly, right? Definitely.
This dog man was getting more and more sensitive.
Meng Loudi continued to cry, but without Jiang Chenyi’s comfort, his sobs grew quieter. It was the classic white lotus style of crying-silent and pitiful.
Jiang reached out, hugged him, and said, “Don’t cry, don’t cry. If you keep crying, I’ll strangle you.”
Mr. Ghost: “…”
Today’s Chenyi was quite the challenge.
Jiang Chenyi felt the other person stop crying like a faucet being turned off and was finally satisfied. He released the other’s arm and decided to be honest. After all, he had accidentally let it slip today. Haha, even if Meng Loudi found out he had a nickname like “dog man,” he should be able to handle it, right?
“Actually, from a long time ago, my dear, you’ve had a special nickname, just for me,” Jiang Chenyi said, looking directly into his eyes with utmost sincerity.
“Dog man?” Mr. Ghost still looked like he was about to cry.
“Yeah,” Jiang nodded.
Then Mr. Ghost let out a low chuckle, instantly changing his expression. He stood up elegantly, looking down at Jiang, and asked, “Since when?”
“I can’t quite remember. Probably since we got together?” Jiang replied without batting an eye.
They were like an old married couple now. What could Meng Loudi do about it? He’d already called him that, so what now? Can’t live together anymore? What, break up?
Jiang Chenyi tried to muster some courage, but a small voice inside kept whispering: “Jiang Chenyi, you’re doomed.”
Alright, I get it.
I’m well aware of it.
No need for you to remind me.
The young man swallowed hard.
Mr. Ghost looked at him as if he were a clueless hedgehog walking right into a trap.
Cute, tempting to bite.
It was the first time Meng Loudi had been called such a name, and he found it somewhat refreshing.
During his lifetime, many had cursed him.
Traitor, rebel, wolf in sheep’s clothing, scoundrel, and so on.
But “dog man”? That was truly different.
How to put it?
It felt like a teasing nickname between lovers.
Mr. Ghost gazed at Jiang, pondering, “Then what should I call Chenyi?”
“Huh?” Jiang Chenyi couldn’t quite follow his train of thought.
“Little rascal? Or little cherry? Or something else?” Mr. Ghost’s expression was serious, yet his words made Jiang explode in an instant.
Jiang Chenyi sprang up from the bed, wrapped his arms around the other’s neck, and bit down on it with his teeth, exclaiming, “Say that again!”
“Don’t like it?” Mr. Ghost blinked innocently.
Jiang imagined Meng Loudi calling him those embarrassing names.
Damn, no way.
He sighed, resting his head against the other’s chest, refusing to answer.
Mr. Ghost embraced his waist, rubbing it gently, and chuckled, “So, it’s acceptable, isn’t it?”
“…Stop talking.” Jiang was mortified.
“Then how about calling you Niang Zi?” Mr. Ghost suggested with a grin, “Or little mister, little husband?”
“Whatever you want.” Jiang really didn’t want to look at him; he couldn’t handle it anymore. He realized that even if he shamelessly accepted it, he couldn’t withstand Meng Loudi.
This man was truly exceptional!
Jiang Chenyi, weakened by the other’s teasing, let himself be handled.
Meng Loudi dressed Jiang Chenyi like a doll.
Jiang’s face was still flushed as he watched the man put shoes on him, feeling like he had used up all his luck in life to meet someone like this.
Though eccentric, he perfectly matched his tastes.
Turns out, he was a bit eccentric too.
Meng Loudi lowered his gaze, putting on his shoes.
Today, Jiang Chenyi was also wearing a suit because they were attending a gala in the evening.
No matter what, if he didn’t go today, Mr. Ghost would drive him crazy.
He really didn’t know what his intentions were.
Jiang suddenly lifted his foot, nudging the other’s hand to catch his attention.
Jiang Chenyi feigned indifference, turning his head slightly and clearing his throat, “Just saying, whatever happens in bed is fine, but let’s tone it down in front of Meng Jiang.”
Mr. Ghost’s eyes sparkled, “Is that so?”
“Yeah, since Meng Jiang will be part of the demon clan in the future, it’s not quite appropriate now.”
Two grown men corrupting the little one’s view would be truly unfortunate.
What if it led him astray?
“Alright, I’ll follow Chenyi’s lead.” Mr. Ghost stood up.
Jiang Chenyi stood up as well, both impeccably dressed, heading downstairs.
After all that fuss, it was already nearing twelve-thirty.
Mr. Ghost pulled Jiang Chenyi to sit down and said, “Let’s eat first. We’ll go to work after breakfast.”
Jiang wanted to remind him that they were about to be late, but then thought, would Mr. Ghost care? No, he would just gently reassure him that it was fine.
No point in wasting words.
It seemed like Mr. Ghost really had no ambition when it came to career matters. He didn’t care at all.
Meng Loudi served Jiang a bowl of porridge and prepared some side dishes to go with it.
Jiang looked at the empty seat in front of Mr. Ghost and scooped up a spoonful of porridge. “Aren’t you eating?”
Mr. Ghost shook his head. “No, I’ve already eaten.”
Jiang picked up another spoon from the set of utensils and handed it to him. “Eat with me.”
“Alright.” Mr. Ghost accepted happily.
The two of them finished their meal in a cozy manner.
Meng Jiang, sitting nearby, watched them with envy in its eyes.
It wanted to eat with its dads too.
But it would definitely get scolded.
Sigh.
But looking at the little sparrow lazily lying on the ground beside it, Meng Jiang was happy again. It had someone too!
Someone to eat and sleep with.
Thinking of this, Meng Jiang’s tail wagged furiously. It lay down and extended its damp tongue to lick the sparrow’s feathers.
The little sparrow, feeling the tongue that almost covered it entirely, remained expressionless.
No choice, after all, it was the future golden thigh to cling to.
Oh, my demon core, my demon core, my demon core!
Jiang and Mr. Ghost finished their meal and left the house together.
This time, Mr. Ghost didn’t call for a driver; they strolled leisurely outside.
Meng Loudi planned to take Jiang on a bus ride.
Because, in love, you do things like taking the bus together, and in a crowded space, he wanted to protect Jiang Chenyi.
Don’t ask how he knew this; what doesn’t the internet have?
So, the two of them, dressed in formal shoes, walked out of the villa area and strolled for over ten minutes.
Jiang was grateful he wasn’t doing this in August when it was over thirty degrees outside.
Now it was October, and the temperature was around twenty degrees, so he could walk this long in just a suit.
Mr. Ghost?
Still in a three-piece suit, without breaking a sweat.
The temperature around Mr. Ghost was a few degrees cooler, so Jiang stayed close, almost leaning against him.
They finally saw the first bus stop.
They waited for a few minutes and caught the first bus.
Meng Loudi pulled out four yuan from his suit pocket and said, “Downtown, two people.”
It looked like he had planned this all along.
The driver glanced at the formally dressed pair, nodded, and closed the door.
Then Meng Loudi looked at the empty bus and fell into thought.
Having never taken a bus before, Mr. Ghost didn’t realize that at one-thirty, it wasn’t peak hour.
The idea of protecting Jiang Chenyi in a crowded bus was just a nice fantasy.
Jiang didn’t understand his roundabout thoughts and pulled him to sit in an empty seat.
They sat in a row.
Jiang Chenyi held his hand.
Meng Loudi, like performing a magic trick, pulled out a candy from his pocket, unwrapped it, and offered it to the young man’s mouth.
Jiang opened his mouth and took the candy.
It was a milk candy.
“Why did you prepare this?”
“Do you like it?” Mr. Ghost’s eyes sparkled with a youthful gleam.
Jiang nodded. “I like it.”
He liked anything Mr. Ghost gave him, as long as it wasn’t something too hard to accept.
Besides, milk candy was his favorite.
Jiang was in a great mood.
Mr. Ghost, satisfied, held his hand tightly, tilted his head, and leaned on his shoulder.
Even though he was half a head taller, there was a gentle softness to it.
Like he was relying on him.
Jiang took on the role of being relied upon, letting him lean.
They quietly rode to the city center and got off.
“So, is there something going on today?” Jiang couldn’t help but ask.
They walked through the bustling streets. Mr. Ghost tilted his head, “No, nothing at all.”
His expression was innocent, but Jiang Chenyi no longer trusted this dog man.
There must be something. Could it be he’s trying to make up for that missed date?
Jiang Chenyi felt the ring on his finger, and his heart felt like it was soaked in honey.
Sweet and delightful.
