Good Night, Mr. Ghost - Chapter 78
Meng Jiang tilted his head, letting out a low growl from his throat. It sounded somewhat sad and aggrieved.
The little sparrow shook its feathers, its voice becoming even more plaintive. With its beady eyes wide open, it hopped over to the dog bowl and pulled out a noodle. Meng Jiang was satisfied, lying on the ground, watching the little sparrow eat noodles and tomatoes. Happy, content, happy, content, very happy, very content.
The little sparrow endured the meal, thinking to itself: It wasn’t yielding to the other’s gaze, but rather afraid that the chief and Young Master Jiang would misunderstand it for bullying Meng Jiang! Although the demon core was as important as life, it was gone now. No choice but to cling tightly to Meng Jiang’s leg. Boohoo.
The little sparrow’s fate was so bitter. It couldn’t resist destiny. Only after the sparrow was full did Meng Jiang start eating his own meal.
Jiang and Mr. Ghost had already finished eating, and Meng Loudi tossed the bowl into the sink. Jiang sat at the dining table, muttering, “I really didn’t get enough to eat.” He complained that one bowl wasn’t enough.
“Really?” Mr. Ghost looked at him, “Didn’t get enough?”
“Of course not.” Jiang glared at him. Such delicious noodles, and he wasn’t allowed to eat his fill, dog man!
Meng Loudi’s lips curled up, “If you’re not full, let’s eat something else.” With that, he walked over, picked Jiang up from the chair effortlessly, as if holding a rag doll.
Jiang was stunned, then his expression changed, clutching the other’s shoulder in alarm, “No way?!”
“What?” Mr. Ghost’s smile was dangerous, carrying him upstairs.
The young man swallowed hard, trying to persuade him, “You know, I’m still recovering.”
“What are you talking about? Chenyi has recovered well, hasn’t he? Fully healthy now, right?” The man kicked open the door, pressing him onto the bed.
Jiang looked at the other’s face, swallowing again, thinking, they hadn’t been intimate for over half a month, right? Would it be too much?
Sensing his panic, Mr. Ghost leisurely removed his tie, pressing Jiang’s wrists above his head, slowly binding the young man’s hands.
“No, I feel a bit dizzy now.” Jiang made a last-ditch effort.
Mr. Ghost’s smile grew more dangerous, “It’s okay, you’re just mesmerized by me.”
“…” Jiang didn’t want to speak. Mr. Ghost was becoming more shameless! Such things were better left unsaid, why say them out loud? Was he being a rogue?
Mr. Ghost finished tying, looking at his blushing lover, reaching out to trace his contours. “Chenyi was quite picky when he was sick.”
Jiang felt guilty. Indeed, he had done quite a few naughty things, taking advantage of being a patient, but nothing too excessive. Just suddenly saying he wanted to eat this or that, making Mr. Ghost go buy it. Or couldn’t sleep, asking Mr. Ghost to tell stories, sing, or give massages.
Mr. Ghost’s eyes were deep as he looked at the young man, “Chenyi’s skin is getting whiter, soft and warm to the touch, very comfortable.” His voice was enchanting, full of allure.
Jiang instantly exploded. Mr. Ghost’s fingers slid over his neck, his voice gentle to the core.
“Chenyi, you’re so beautiful. I really like you, want you, want you so much it’s driving me crazy.”
Meng Loudi gazed at the young man, his eyes swirling with a storm. Outwardly, he seemed like a gentleman as refined as jade, but inside, he was a fierce and ruthless beast. A contradiction of elegance and savagery.
Jiang Chenyi swallowed hard, stammering, “You, you be gentle, I’m afraid of pain.”
“Ah, that might be difficult. This time, I want to mark you, Chenyi, leave traces everywhere,” Mr. Ghost murmured.
“It hurts, ooh, Loudi, be gentle.”
The man said nothing, didn’t relent, holding him tightly as if trying to merge the young man into his own body. All the mischief Jiang had caused, Mr. Ghost was now paying back in full.
Sunlight pierced through the window, casting clear patterns on the floor. A few steps away, the bed lay soft and inviting.
When the young man groggily awoke, he almost wondered if he was paralyzed. The pain below was so intense he felt numb.
“Hiss-!” Jiang exclaimed angrily.
Turning his head, he saw the culprit. That dog man was sleeping soundly, his face still handsome and glowing, looking as fresh as if he hadn’t been up all night.
Jiang got even angrier, leaning in to give him a hard bite on the cheek.
Mr. Ghost slowly woke up, feeling the sting on his face. He didn’t mind at all, wrapping his arms around the young man and nuzzling contentedly.
“Chenyi-morning.”
Jiang’s anger dissipated instantly. How could this man be so good at acting cute? How could he do this!
Why wasn’t he domineering and cold, violent and heartless?! If Loudi were like that, Jiang could easily kick this dog man out of bed without batting an eye.
But his man was so gentle and adorable, he couldn’t bring himself to do anything harsh to him. It was frustrating.
Mr. Ghost nuzzled him, planting a kiss on his neck, “Chenyi.”
“Mm, got it, morning, Mr. Ghost.” The young man patted his head, responding half-heartedly.
After all the trouble last night, how could he possibly forgive him?! At least he needed to stay mad for a whole morning, right?!
Jiang glanced at the clock on the wall. Perfect, it was already 10:46, which meant he had one hour and fourteen minutes left to be angry.
Mr. Ghost cuddled him, nuzzling like a cat seeking affection. After that, he sat up, feeling refreshed. He knew he had gone too far last night, and if he pushed it any further, Jiang Chenyi would definitely explode with anger.
As the man sat up, Jiang closed his eyes, thinking he could finally get some rest. But Mr. Ghost’s hand landed on his shoulder once more.
Dog man!
Jiang opened his eyes in anger, “No more! If you keep this up, I’ll be paralyzed from the waist down!”
Mr. Ghost paused, then burst out laughing, “What are you thinking? Don’t you think I know my limits?”
He helped the young man sit up. Jiang was puzzled but still managed to sit up with effort.
Mr. Ghost opened his hand in front of Jiang, revealing a red velvet box.
“What is this?”
“Open it and see,” Mr. Ghost encouraged.
The young man picked up the box and opened it. What was this? Did Meng Loudi dare to put a prank fist inside?
Jiang Chenyi was taken aback when he opened it.
On the black velvet lay a pair of rings, each set with a diamond. The design was simple, looking like a pair of men’s rings.
Mr. Ghost embraced him, kissed his hair, and smiled, “Do you like it?”
“I do,” Jiang’s voice trembled slightly.
He hadn’t expected it to be this-rings.
Oh my, what has Mr. Ghost been reading lately?
So romantic?
Even a man like him was touched!
Mr. Ghost picked up the smaller ring and said, “Give me your finger.”
Jiang extended his left hand, and Mr. Ghost carefully placed the ring on his left ring finger.
The left ring finger has a vein that connects to the heart.
Jiang stared blankly at him, at the ring.
“What’s wrong? Put it on me,” Mr. Ghost gently extended his hand, prompting him to act.
Jiang picked up the ring and formally placed it on Mr. Ghost’s finger.
With both hands now adorned with rings, Meng Loudi clasped his hand, interlocking their fingers. He kissed the young man’s fingers, “It’s perfect.”
Jiang asked, “Why did you suddenly think of buying rings?”
Mr. Ghost looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
His dark hair flowed like a stream, and his black eyes sparkled like the stars.
Jiang’s heart nearly stopped.
It was the feeling of being moved, the heart racing with emotion.
Oh my, I’m going to die.
“I’ve always wanted to buy them, but I couldn’t find any I liked. Then I found a shop that could customize unique rings. Once they were ready, I brought them back,” Mr. Ghost explained gently.
Jiang was deeply touched.
Then, for a moment, Mr. Ghost’s expression turned a bit sinister.
“I originally planned to take Chenyi out for a date after work, then sleep, and give them to Chenyi when he woke up in the morning. Such a pity,” Mr. Ghost lamented.
His little plan had been perfect, but because of Luo Yun, everything was overturned.
Jiang Chenyi felt a bittersweet itch in his heart. He leaned in and kissed him.
Mr. Ghost’s heart stirred, and he cupped Jiang’s face with a sincere expression.
“Chenyi’s body can’t take it anymore; we can’t continue.”
Jiang: “……”
Can you stop with those thoughts?
Please?!
This was a pure, loving kiss!
Mr. Ghost tucked him back into the blanket, smiling, “Chenyi should rest well today. You still need to sleep a bit, right? After lunch, you can sleep again. I’ll go make some food.”
Jiang curled up under the blanket, leaving only his head exposed, and timidly asked, “So, is Mr. Ghost not going to work today?”
During his hospital stay, Meng Loudi hadn’t left his side.
He had completely neglected his career.
Meng Loudi smiled slightly at this, “Chenyi doesn’t need to worry about that. I can take a few days off. Once Chenyi is truly okay, I’ll go back to work.”
Jiang Chenyi nodded.
Mr. Ghost looked at him with eyes full of tenderness, “And from now on, Chenyi can’t leave my side.”
“……You’re so annoying.”
“Then let it be annoying. I can’t let Chenyi be too far from me. Really, this here would break,” Mr. Ghost said seriously, pointing to his heart.
What else could Jiang say?
Jiang could only nod.
Mr. Ghost gave him a gentle kiss before heading downstairs to cook.
Jiang had been bedridden for two days, but finally, he could get up.
Mr. Ghost truly didn’t go to work; any business that required his attention was delivered by Bai Lu.
Now, Bai Lu sat properly on the sofa, and Jiang Chenyi also sat properly on the sofa.
As for Mr. Ghost, he had gone upstairs to fetch something.
Bai Lu looked at the human who seemed to have fully recovered and sincerely said, “I’m really glad to see you’re healthy again.”
“Thank you,” Jiang replied with a polite, formal smile.
“I mean it. You have no idea how terrifying Mr. Chief was after your accident. None of us want anything to happen to you,” Bai Lu recalled with a shiver.
It was truly terrifying.
Meng Loudi’s true power could have wiped them out on the spot.
And they would have been powerless to resist.
Jiang Chenyi’s presence was like a cage that restrained a fierce beast.
Jiang maintained his smile, “I know, Loudi is incredibly powerful, beyond my imagination, and quite terrifying inside. But how should I put it? That guy sees me as indispensable. If I were to disappear, he’d definitely go mad, so from now on, I’ll do my best to protect myself.”
“That’s good to hear,” Bai Lu sighed in relief.
But knowing all this and still being able to get along with Mr. Chief, Jiang Chenyi seemed quite remarkable himself.
