Good Night, Mr. Ghost - Chapter 66
By the time it was past two in the afternoon, Meng Jiang woke up and leaned against the window, gazing at the scenery outside.
Jiang had just finished a painting, featuring a dog, a person, and a ghost. Although it was still quite ugly, it had a certain charm in its ugliness.
Jiang was quite satisfied.
Turning his head, he noticed the big dog looking somewhat lonely.
It seemed like it really wanted to go out and play.
Jiang Chenyi thought for a moment. It had been several days since he last took the dog for a walk.
These past few mornings, he hadn’t been able to get up, so he just left the door open, letting Meng Jiang run wild in the yard, occasionally accompanied by a little sparrow.
However, he and Mr. Ghost hadn’t properly taken the dog out for a walk in a while.
Should he take Meng Jiang out for a walk?
Jiang pondered for a moment and called Brownish.
“Hey, Brownish, I wanted to ask, does our company have any dog-walking gear?”
Jiang had a leash, but he remembered there was a device that could cover the dog’s mouth.
Though it might not be very comfortable, in Ba Lin’s bustling city, it’s better to be prepared to avoid causing panic.
Brownish answered the phone, nibbling on her fingertip, nodding, “Yes, I’ll send it up to you later. Are you planning to take Meng Jiang out, Chenyi-Ge?”
“Yeah, Meng Jiang seems a bit bored.”
“Alright, but we don’t have time to accompany you now. I’ll arrange for someone to go with you.”
Jiang chuckled, “No need, I can manage on my own.”
“Oh come on, it’s better to have security measures in place. It’s settled.” Brownish decisively hung up the phone.
She didn’t want Jiang Chenyi to make any mistakes.
Regardless of what happens in the future, right now, Chenyi-Ge is the apple of Mr. Chief’s eye, his precious treasure.
Moreover…
Oh, the new female ghost seems to be quite infatuated with Jiang Chenyi.
Tsk tsk tsk.
Miss Rabbit thought about Jiang Chenyi’s face and mused: If I were single, I’d try to steal Mr. Chief’s heart.
Unfortunately, Brownish glanced at the stern and abstinent Mr. Bai beside her.
This rabbit is stuck with this white deer for life.
Sigh, so sad.
Brownish sighed internally, while outwardly she hummed confidently, picking up the office phone on her desk, her legs propped up on the desk, and dialed a number, “It’s me, the sales director. Find someone reliable, with decent cultivation. Yes, to accompany the chief’s wife for a dog walk. The Human Resources Department should be able to find someone like that.”
Miss Rabbit, legs crossed, finished the call with a series of “uh-huhs.”
Bai Lu adjusted his glasses and asked, “Brownish, what are you up to now?”
Miss Rabbit, legs crossed, taking advantage of her high-end office chair, almost tipping three of its wheels, twirled her hair and said, “Chenyi-Ge wants to go out with Meng Jiang, so I’m making arrangements.”
Bai Lu adjusted his glasses, his expression unreadable, “Chenyi-Ge?”
Miss Rabbit laughed, looking at Mr. Bai, her smile alluring. She jumped off the chair, ran to the man, wrapped her arms around his neck, and teased, “Bai Lu-Ge~ Are you jealous? Don’t worry, I’ll be faithful to you!”
Bai Lu hugged his petite wife, kissed her earlobe, watching her close her eyes, displaying a cute yet seductive expression.
The man cleared his throat, seriously saying, “No romance during office hours, darling. Go back to work.”
Brownish twisted her neck, glaring at Bai Lu, her expression fierce.
Miss Rabbit bared her large teeth, ominously saying, “Say that again?”
Bai Lu: “……”
The afternoon sun was splendid.
Jiang Chenyi held the leash, taking Meng Jiang into the elevator, followed by a slender young man. The young man wore a well-fitted casual suit, his hair and eyes as dark as night, giving him a refined appearance.
The young man accompanying him was Wu Yi, a demon of sorts, though his exact nature was unclear. He seemed weaker than Jiang Chenyi, sparking a fleeting desire in Jiang to test his strength against him. However, in reality, Wu Yi was likely the one who could easily overpower him.
Jiang offered a resigned smile.
He chose his words carefully, “The weather’s nice today.”
Wu Yi’s expression remained indifferent, “Yes.”
Jiang: “…”
Young man, with such coldness, you’ll lose me!
Meng Jiang wore a muzzle, making it appear slightly less threatening. Nonetheless, its size still conveyed a sense of menace.
Wu Yi glanced at the black dog, a hint of envy in his eyes.
The two men and the dog descended quietly, reaching the mall. Jiang, with his dog, seemed somewhat out of place, especially since most pet owners had small dogs, making his medium-sized companion quite conspicuous.
To avoid causing a stir, he decided to take the elevator down from the thirtieth floor. Walking down the actual stairs would likely instill a fear of dog-walking in Jiang Chenyi for some time.
Meng Jiang was obedient, staying close to Jiang’s feet, curiously observing the surroundings but never straying.
Wu Yi followed closely behind Jiang, like a silent shadow.
Feeling awkward, Jiang cleared his throat, “Uh, sorry for interrupting your work.”
If it weren’t for his need to walk the dog, Brownish wouldn’t have assigned him a bodyguard, and Wu Yi would probably still be diligently working.
Really, very sorry.
Wu Yi paused, lowering his head, his hair obscuring his eyes as he softly spoke, “Not at all.”
His voice was so quiet that Jiang turned to him, “What?”
Wu Yi took a deep breath, “Not at all! I’m honored to accompany Young Master Jiang!”
His voice was louder now, slightly raspy and dry.
A unique voice.
Jiang Chenyi nodded, “Is that so? That’s good. I was really worried I’d be making you unhappy, dragging you out for unnecessary things.”
Wu Yi shook his head, “It’s necessary. Protecting Young Master Jiang is very important.”
“I understand. By the way, why do you call me ‘Young Master Jiang’?” Jiang asked, petting the dog’s ears.
Wu Yi raised his face, a bit embarrassed, “Because Young Master Jiang is so young. To us, Young Master Jiang isn’t even considered a cub.”
Jiang Chenyi’s age didn’t even reach a fraction of his own.
Jiang Chenyi nodded in understanding.
Wu Yi smiled shyly, “But Young Master Jiang is quite popular among us. We all look forward to spending time with you. It was quite a challenge for me to get the chance to accompany you today.”
Jiang Chenyi looked a bit surprised, his face showing a hint of embarrassment, “Really? I wasn’t aware of that.”
He hadn’t expected to have some popularity among these supernatural beings.
Wu Yi nodded, speaking softly, “Yes, because compared to the chairman, Young Master Jiang is more gentle and approachable, and easy to talk to.”
He was someone they could get close to.
However, if Jiang Chenyi weren’t the chief’s wife, the term used for this human might have been “easy to bully.”
They walked out of the Ba Lin Building’s mall, drawing curious or surprised glances from those around them.
It was a little past three in the afternoon, during work and school hours, so the streets weren’t crowded.
Meng Jiang pranced proudly, chest puffed out, looking quite spirited.
Wu Yi praised, “Meng Jiang looks so lively.”
“Yes, still a young little guy,” Jiang said with a smile, watching Meng Jiang.
Not sure whom it took after, but Meng Jiang was a very sensible dog, good at reading the room.
Very likable to him, and also to Mr. Ghost.
At the very least, it was the only creature that could sleep on the first floor and go upstairs to bother them in the morning.
The afternoon sun was warm, and the temperature wasn’t too high, making it a comfortable environment overall.
Jiang Chenyi checked his phone, planning to take Meng Jiang to a park where there might be other people walking their dogs.
Let Meng Jiang frolic on the grass.
Wu Yi followed behind him, maintaining a distance that wouldn’t make him uncomfortable.
Following the navigation, they walked for half an hour to a small park.
The park was open, with many people strolling inside, mostly elderly.
Jiang led Meng Jiang in, attracting quite a few gazes with the dog’s imposing presence.
“Wow, that’s a big dog.”
“Doesn’t look like a breed dog, maybe a mixed breed?”
“Could be a native dog.”
“Wow, not a breed dog but taken care of so well, that dog is lucky.”
People whispered among themselves, but the young man didn’t care about their words, leading Meng Jiang to the grass, patting the dog’s head, and smiling, “Meng Jiang, you can play well now, but don’t scare others, okay?”
“Woof woof!” The black dog let out a muffled bark.
Jiang Chenyi felt a bit sorry for it, but to avoid unnecessary trouble, he had to make Meng Jiang endure.
He took off Meng Jiang’s leash, watching it frolic and roll on the grass.
Wu Yi stood behind him, watching the young man.
Jiang Chenyi was dressed in a white outfit today, loose sportswear, white canvas shoes, looking just like a college student.
The golden sunlight cast a warm glow on him.
He appeared very warm.
Wu Yi took out his phone, adjusted the distance, and snapped a picture of the young man’s back.
Jiang Chenyi watched the dog enjoying itself, feeling relieved, and sat down on a park bench.
Wu Yi, afraid of being discovered, started to stiffen up.
The young man patted the spot next to him, smiling, “Wu Yi, have a seat.”
Wu Yi sat down stiffly.
Jiang Chenyi felt a bit awkward too, unsure of what to say.
They weren’t very familiar with each other, not knowing what to talk about.
Ah-this is so awkward, awkward enough to make him want to cover his face.
The two maintained an awkward atmosphere, sitting on the bench.
Wu Yi also sensed the unusual vibe, nervously rubbing his palms, unsure of what to say.
His understanding of Young Master Jiang was all hearsay.
Not knowing if it was true.
Jiang scratched the back of his head, feeling like his hair might be getting a bit long.
But if he cut it into a buzz cut, would it look strange?
He didn’t want to keep the messy hair, wanting a manly short cut.
Jiang Chenyi pondered, wondering if cutting his hair short would make Mr. Ghost abandon him due to his decreased attractiveness.
Probably not, Meng Loudi wasn’t that shallow, Jiang Chenyi was.
The young man fell into contemplation, then something caught his attention.
In the center of the park, under a large patch of shade, there was a small cart.
It seemed to be selling ice cream and cold drinks.
Jiang Chenyi hadn’t had a proper cold drink in a long time.
Because he was trying to stay healthy.
Now, he could indulge.
