- Chapter 15 - Fei, Did You Have a Dream?
Catherine watched as the fierce fire tiger was attacked. Her eyes widened in surprise. An assassin daring to ambush a monster not weaker than a Level 30? That took some serious guts!
Suddenly, she felt a tug on her arm. A pleasant voice whispered in her ear, “Don’t move, I’ll get you out of here!”
Chen Fei swiftly scooped Catherine up. Wow, she’s a bit heavier than expected! That was Chen Fei’s immediate thought. He quickly carried her away from the danger.
The fierce fire tiger, of course, noticed them and wasn’t about to let them escape so easily. It prepared to give chase but then halted. It sensed intruders in its territory and immediately turned back to defend its domain, abandoning the pursuit of Chen Fei and Catherine.
Chen Fei ran with Catherine in his arms, not daring to stop. When he realized the fierce fire tiger wasn’t following, he let out a sigh of relief. Good thing his plan worked!
While Catherine and her group were being chased, Chen Fei had plucked an herb from a tree on the other side and placed it in the fierce fire tiger’s territory. This herb was something the vulture hawk needed, naturally drawing it into the tiger’s domain. The fierce fire tiger, noticing the intrusion, had no choice but to return to protect its territory.
Chen Fei didn’t stop running, though. After about an hour, he reached a secluded cave and carried Catherine inside. By this time, Catherine had passed out, her body burning with fever from the fire poison inflicted by the fierce fire tiger.
“Please don’t die on me. If you do, I won’t be able to get into Donglin City anytime soon!” Chen Fei shook Catherine gently. She was unconscious, with no response.
With no other choice, Chen Fei removed Catherine’s armor, revealing a light blue bodysuit that accentuated her mature, curvaceous figure. He quickly shook his head, dismissing any inappropriate thoughts. “I’ve seen this countless times in my past life… nothing new to see here!”
He laid her down inside the cave and stepped out. The fire poison required specific herbs for treatment, and as a former assassin with a subclass as an alchemist, Chen Fei knew exactly what was needed to cure it.
After searching for a while, Chen Fei found nothing useful. The area was too remote, and the available herbs weren’t suitable for treating fire poison. With no other options, he turned to the game’s trading system, hoping some lifestyle players might be selling the necessary herbs.
Upon opening the trading interface, he was greeted with a variety of items.
“Custom ‘Teacher Bodo’ toy, bringing joy to otherworldly otakus!”
What the heck! Why is this the top recommendation?
Scrolling further down, he saw, “Life-sized celebrity figures! Need a doll? Click here, great prices!”
Seriously?
Chen Fei refused to give up and kept scrolling.
“Cheap ordinary equipment, only real-world money needed!”
“Authentic underwear from a widow in a novice village, fresh and original, hehe~”
“Just got some pills yesterday from completing a quest, great for refreshing the mind!”
…
After searching for a long time, Chen Fei still couldn’t find what he was looking for. Frustrated, he opened the search bar and typed in “herb.”
“[Lanxing Herb ×23, affordable price!]”
“[Icewater Herb ×10]”
“[Huoqiang Herb ×24]”
…
Finally, Chen Fei found the Icewater Herb, known for its miraculous effect on treating fire poison. He immediately contacted the seller. Seeing it was Li Xiaoyao, the seller decided to do him a favor and gave it to him for free. In return, Chen Fei promised to help the seller whenever needed in the future. The transaction was completed smoothly, and Chen Fei obtained 10 Icewater Herbs.
With the Icewater Herbs in hand, Chen Fei quickly took them out. Ten small blades of grass, shimmering with an icy blue hue, appeared in his palm. He began to rub them together, extracting a blue medicinal juice. He gently opened Catherine’s mouth and poured the juice in.
Gradually, Catherine’s flushed and feverish body began to cool down, and Chen Fei finally felt relieved. He glanced outside and noticed the sky was getting darker. Realizing his game time was running out, he looked at the peacefully sleeping Catherine. He walked over and took the storage ring from her hand, handling it as if it were his own. Without any hindrance, he broke the restriction on the storage ring and retrieved a formation stone from within. He placed it around the cave entrance, causing it to become hidden.
Then, he quietly logged out of the game.
Chen Fei opened his eyes and stepped out of the game pod. He glanced at the clock on the table-it was past six in the evening. Picking up his phone, he saw a message from Lin Mumu: “Fei, I’ve taken care of everything. I’ll come to your place tomorrow morning.”
Chen Fei replied, “Okay.”
Suppressing his hunger, Chen Fei walked over to the bed and took out a stack of comic books from under his pillow, placing them into a cardboard box beneath the bed. The box was filled with nearly thirty treasured comic books, all part of Chen Fei’s collection. He pushed the box under the bed, ensuring everything was neatly stored away.
After taking care of that, Chen Fei left his bedroom and headed to the kitchen. He took out some leftovers from the fridge, reheated them slightly, and began to eat. After a while, looking at the remaining scraps, Chen Fei threw the uneaten food into the trash, disposing of everything.
After wrapping up his tasks, Chen Fei lay down on his bed early, pondering the things he needed to do the next day. First, he had to wake up early in the morning because Lin Mumu was coming over. There would probably be someone coming to install the game pod as well. Then, he would enter the game, chat with Catherine, and have her take him to Donglin City. He also planned to add Lin Mumu as a friend in the game. With these thoughts in mind, Chen Fei gradually drifted into sleep.
In his dream, he relived a painful scene.
“Chen Fei, still not yielding to me, huh? Haha, come on, let’s do it a dozen times today!”
…
“Chen Fei, I’ll let you off today, but my sisters really like you… Why don’t you spend some time with them today?”
…
“Chen Fei! Whether you want to or not, you’re doing it today!”
…
Chen Fei jolted awake, gasping. “Thank goodness, it was just a dream.”
“No, thank goodness it’s all in the past! Heaven has given me a second chance, and I swear, that will never happen again!”
Resolute, Chen Fei got out of bed, quickly washed up, and went downstairs for breakfast. Shortly after, some workers arrived at his door to install the game pod. Half an hour later, the installation was complete, and Lin Mumu had also arrived.
As soon as she entered Chen Fei’s bedroom, she noticed the mess on the bed and glanced at his pajama pants. Her cheeks flushed slightly, and she teased with a soft smile, “Fei, did you… have a spring dream?”
A spring dream? Chen Fei was taken aback. That could hardly be called a spring dream. It was more like a nightmare.
“No, it was just a very unpleasant dream,” he replied.
“Unpleasant?” Lin Mumu glanced pointedly at Chen Fei’s crotch and remarked thoughtfully, “Your room has quite a strong smell.”
A smell? Chen Fei sniffed the air but couldn’t detect anything unusual.
