From Dropout to Housemaid-The Upper Crust's Favorite - Chapter 55 - Throw Them All Out
Jiang Xianyu and Chen Siling returned to their place, and Siling poured a cup of honey water for Xianyu.
“Here, sis, have some honey water to sober up.”
Xianyu obediently took the cup and slowly drank it.
Siling breathed a sigh of relief. “Why did you drink so much? It’s not worth it. If it comes to that, I can just drop the role. Nothing is more important than your health.”
Xianyu just smiled good-naturedly.
She glanced at the luggage beside her and remembered she hadn’t given the gift to her sister’s agent yet.
Standing up with steady steps, she retrieved the gift and handed it to Siling. “Take this to your agent.”
Siling nodded.
Her agent lived nearby and had been accompanying her to auditions these past few days.
After delivering the gift, Siling quickly returned.
By then, Xianyu was in the shower, trying to wash off the uncomfortable smell of alcohol.
When she finished, it was nearly three o’clock, and she discussed with Siling about heading back to their hometown.
Since Siling hadn’t been drinking, she took the wheel.
Driving from the Film and Television City to their hometown took about five hours, a journey Siling was quite accustomed to.
They set off at three in the afternoon, expecting to arrive around eight or nine in the evening.
Xianyu informed the family that she’d be coming home tonight.
As the car moved at a steady pace, Xianyu felt drowsy.
Siling reached over and pulled a blanket over Xianyu, letting her rest comfortably.
Xianyu drifted in and out of sleep, feeling quite at ease.
She fully awoke when they exited the highway.
Now in Zhenzhou, both felt a heaviness in their hearts.
Xianyu remained silent, her grip tightening unconsciously.
“When we get there, just park near Uncle’s house. Don’t go any further.”
Siling nodded.
She had no desire to see those unpleasant biological parents.
Her driving slowed considerably, her earlier enthusiasm waning.
After about ten minutes, as they neared their destination, Siling suggested, “Sis, why don’t you come home with me?”
Xianyu declined her sister’s offer. “No need. It’s something I have to face eventually. Don’t worry, they used to manipulate me because I still saw myself as a daughter of the Jiang Family. That’s not the case anymore.”
Siling hesitated for a while before giving up the idea of turning the car around.
Turning onto a small road, Xianyu could already see the lights of Uncle Jiang’s house.
Her expression relaxed slightly.
About ten meters from Uncle Jiang Hongbo’s house, Xianyu asked Siling to stop the car.
Jiang Hongbo and Jiang Hongtao’s houses were adjacent, one behind the other, separated by a cement-paved parking area.
Any further, and those unworthy parents would notice them.
Chen Siling got out of the car and helped Jiang Xianyu unload her things.
Jiang Xianyu handed her two tote bags. “These are for Uncle Chen and Aunt Chen. You take them back.”
Chen Siling was surprised. “For my parents?”
Jiang Xianyu nodded with a smile.
Chen Siling glanced at the remaining items Jiang Xianyu had and asked uncertainly, “Sis, you’re not bringing anything for those two this year?”
Her sister had always been grateful to Uncle’s family, so there were gifts for them, but judging by the quantity, if these were given to her to take back, there wouldn’t be any left for those two.
Yes, those two-she didn’t even want to call them mom and dad in her mind.
Jiang Xianyu merely curled her lips. “Didn’t buy anything for them.”
Chen Siling, hearing this, pushed the items back towards Jiang Xianyu. “Forget it, you better give these to them, or who knows how they’ll torment you.”
Jiang Xianyu didn’t take them and spoke candidly to her sister. “I used to put them in the position of parents, so I would tolerate everything. But after their last stunt, I’ve seen through it. Stepping out of that identity, I have many ways to deal with them. Don’t worry.”
Chen Siling was convinced by the determination in Jiang Xianyu’s eyes.
She noticed that ever since her sister quit her job, she seemed to have become more clear-headed.
“Alright then, I’ll keep these. Call me if you need anything.”
Once she was sure Jiang Xianyu was okay, Chen Siling drove away.
Jiang Xianyu dragged her suitcase, the wheels making a rumbling sound on the concrete.
Uncle’s house door opened, and Uncle and Aunt stood at the entrance, looking in her direction.
Seeing Jiang Xianyu, they happily came forward.
“Xiao Yu is back?!” Aunt circled Jiang Xianyu once and concluded, “You look better than before this time.”
Jiang Xianyu quickly greeted Uncle and Aunt.
Uncle was a quiet man, and he simply smiled, saying, “It’s good you’re back, it’s good you’re back.”
Jiang Xianyu handed over the holiday gifts she had bought. “Uncle, Aunt, these are for you.”
They looked at the gifts but didn’t take them, glancing towards Jiang Xianyu’s family’s direction.
“It doesn’t matter if we have them or not, just don’t let your parents pick on you.”
Jiang Xianyu didn’t heed their advice. She placed the gifts at Aunt’s feet and headed home with her suitcase.
Aunt was about to chase after her with the gifts when Uncle pulled her back towards the door.
It turned out someone from the brother’s house had come out.
It was Mother Jiang, Qiu He.
Her gaze swept over Jiang Xianyu’s hand, and upon seeing only a suitcase, her expression soured.
“Is this all you brought back?”
Jiang Xianyu replied with the same question, “What else?”
Qiu He was choked up. “You stubborn girl, think you’re all grown up now?”
Jiang Xianyu ignored her and dragged her suitcase inside.
The house was a newly built two-story building. Ever since she started working, the Jiang Family, known for their laziness, had become wealthy in the village.
In the first-floor living room, Father Jiang was watching TV, while Jiang Xinbao was curled up on the sofa playing with his phone.
Jiang Xianyu noticed that the phone was the latest model from Apple.
Hearing the commotion, Jiang Xinbao glanced at Jiang Xianyu and continued playing his game.
Since he didn’t greet her, Jiang Xianyu didn’t bother speaking to him either. She pulled her suitcase and headed to her room on the first floor.
Father Jiang saw this and his face was full of displeasure. “You come back and don’t even greet anyone?”
Jiang Xianyu paused, her eyes indifferent. “Teach your son first.”
With that, she pushed open her bedroom door.
However, the room could no longer be called a bedroom.
It had long been converted into a gaming room, clearly for someone’s use.
“Where’s my room?” Jiang Xianyu turned, her expression cold.
Mother Jiang quickly explained, “Your brother wanted a gaming room, and your room is convenient for access. You don’t come back often, so we used it. You won’t be here long anyway, you can sleep anywhere.”
Jiang Xianyu said nothing.
She set her suitcase down and walked into the gaming room.
Father Jiang and Mother Jiang thought Jiang Xianyu had compromised, but Jiang Xinbao was furious. “Jiang Xiaoyu! Get out, who said you could go into my gaming room?!”
Just as he finished speaking, the gaming room door opened.
Before Jiang Xinbao could be happy, something was thrown out of the room.
The sound of a keyboard hitting the tile floor was loud.
The three were startled.
Jiang Xinbao finally put down his phone, looking at the mechanical keyboard he had spent over a thousand on, heartbroken. “Jiang Xiaoyu, are you crazy?!”
His answer was another gaming figurine tossed out of the room.
Then came the console, monitor, chair.
