From Dropout to Housemaid-The Upper Crust's Favorite - Chapter 22 - Adding on WeChat
Su Linyuan, after ensuring that Jiang Xianyu wouldn’t lose all her hard-earned money, withdrew his gaze.
Curiously, he asked, “You have a lot of faith in Xinyang Technology?”
Jiang Xianyu replied, “Yes, Xinyang Technology has already overcome technical hurdles. Their future development is limitless. They’re currently focusing on developing new intelligent robots, which will later be applied in military and medical fields. The prospects are very promising.”
Given the current international situation and the gradually aging population, Xinyang Technology has a long lifespan ahead.
Su Linyuan looked at Jiang Xianyu with a hint of amazement.
After a moment, he said, “Being a housemaid seems beneath your talents.”
Jiang Xianyu just smiled, “No job is superior to another.”
Su Linyuan then realized his words were inappropriate. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it that way.”
Jiang Xianyu noticed his slightly flushed face due to nervousness and said nonchalantly, “It’s okay.”
Su Linyuan couldn’t tell if she genuinely didn’t mind or if there was something else, so he fell silent.
Jiang Xianyu sat up straight and pointed to the dining table, “Dinner is ready, Mr. Su. Please go ahead and eat. I’ll clean up after you’re done.”
Su Linyuan finally understood why she was still at the house when he returned.
Thinking about the dishes he had broken the previous day, he awkwardly averted his gaze.
“The dishes can be quite slippery right after a meal.”
Jiang Xianyu couldn’t help but chuckle at his attempt to justify himself, “Yes, they can be slippery. It’s understandable if they accidentally fall.”
At that moment, Jiang Xianyu truly understood what it meant to be red-faced.
She held back her laughter, her bright eyes sparkling with amusement.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Su Linyuan quickly turned away and headed to the dining table.
Jiang Xianyu didn’t continue watching him, turning her attention back to the stock market’s ups and downs.
As Su Linyuan sat at the table, he glanced at Jiang Xianyu, who had returned to her usual self. “Jiang Xianyu, have you eaten?”
Jiang Xianyu paused her mouse movement and replied, “I ate in the kitchen.”
She didn’t have a big appetite and finished her meal in ten minutes.
Su Linyuan paused his chopsticks but said nothing more.
Although Jiang Xianyu was focused on her computer, she kept an eye on Su Linyuan.
Once he finished eating, Jiang Xianyu got up to clear the table.
Su Linyuan didn’t go upstairs immediately. Instead, he discreetly observed Jiang Xianyu’s cleaning routine.
He watched as Jiang Xianyu combined the leftover food, then stacked the dishes from smallest to largest.
Seeing her steadily carry the dishes to the kitchen sink, he finally snapped out of his thoughts.
Was it really that simple?
Did Jiang Xianyu think he was a fool, unable to handle such a simple task?
Then he consoled himself, thinking that every profession has its expertise, and professional tasks should be left to professionals.
Su Linyuan returned to his third-floor bedroom.
Upon entering, he saw the room was clean and tidy.
The clothes that had been piled on the bench at the foot of the bed that morning were now gone.
Suddenly remembering something, Su Linyuan headed towards the balcony and was greeted by the sight of his underwear fluttering in the wind. The image of Jiang Xianyu washing his underwear earlier in the day made his heart race wildly. He had just been downstairs talking seriously about the stock market with her. Although his clothes weren’t washed by him before either, having Qian do it and having Jiang Xianyu do it were two entirely different matters.
He pulled out his phone and searched, “What to do when a woman washes your underwear?” The answers were all over the place, none of them helpful. Tossing his phone onto the bed, he tried to reassure himself. It’s fine, it’s her job. Tomorrow, just act like nothing happened.
While Su Linyuan was wrestling with his thoughts, Jiang Xianyu had finished her work and was putting on a fluffy thick coat to head home. Su Linyuan stood on the balcony, watching her put on a helmet and ride her E-ride leisurely out of the villa. His mood gradually calmed as she left.
That night, after taking a shower, Su Linyuan decided to wash his underwear himself. He studied the different detergents, mentally calculating the amounts, and then awkwardly began washing. Thankfully, washing underwear wasn’t too complicated, and he managed to finish, albeit clumsily.
The next morning, when Jiang Xianyu was tidying up the room, she didn’t find Su Linyuan’s changed underwear in the bedroom. She washed the other clothes first, and while hanging them, she spotted the underwear she’d been looking for all morning already hanging up. Jiang Xianyu was silent. So, he felt awkward about her washing his underwear? Well, she felt a bit awkward about washing a man’s underwear too.
In the evening, Jiang Xianyu was still waiting for Su Linyuan to come back for dinner. But it was almost seven, and he still hadn’t returned. She thought for a moment and sent a message to Assistant Zhao on WeChat. “Assistant Zhao, is Mr. Su working late today?”
Assistant Zhao, seeing the message, slapped his forehead. He had forgotten to mention during the meeting that Mr. Su would be working late and not having dinner at home. “Sorry, I forgot to tell you during the meeting. Mr. Su won’t be having dinner at home tonight.”
Looking at the food on the table, Jiang Xianyu replied with an “OK, got it.” She reminded herself that this was her job, and she needed to adapt.
When Su Linyuan came out of the meeting room, he saw Zhao Tianming typing away on his phone and walked over to ask, “What are you doing?” Assistant Zhao looked up and handed his phone to Su Linyuan. Seeing the conversation, Su Linyuan frowned slightly, “Didn’t I ask you to inform her before the meeting this afternoon?”
“My bad, I was in a rush to prepare the materials and forgot.” Su Linyuan waved it off, “Forget it, just be more careful next time.” Assistant Zhao breathed a sigh of relief, “Got it, Mr. Su.”
As Assistant Zhao was about to leave, Su Linyuan called him back, “By the way, send me Jiang Xianyu’s WeChat. It’ll be easier to contact her if there’s something at home.” Assistant Zhao gave Su Linyuan a curious look but silently sent Jiang Xianyu’s WeChat to him.
Su Linyuan glanced at the name on the WeChat card. Fish Dies, Net Breaks. What kind of awful nickname is that? He frowned as he added her on WeChat. The screen lit up for a while, but there was no response. Su Linyuan frowned. Could Jiang Xianyu be upset? Having prepared a meal only to be stood up was indeed a bit annoying. He turned off his phone, grabbed his car keys, and headed home.
At Banshan Villa, when Su Linyuan entered, the entire villa was silent, with only the sensor light in the hallway turning on. He went to the dining room; the table was spotless. He then went to the kitchen, which was also clean and bright. He wondered how Jiang Xianyu had dealt with all the food.
After getting the confirmation from Assistant Zhao, Jiang Xianyu made a call to Liu Lijun. “Hey, come over for a feast.” Yes, she had packed up all the food and taken it home. Waste not, want not. Liu Lijun, thrilled by the surprise, came over eagerly. She was hungry anyway.
The next morning, Jiang Xianyu arrived at the villa on time. As soon as she walked in, she saw Su Linyuan flipping through his phone on the sofa. “Good morning, Mr. Su.” Su Linyuan put down his phone and glanced at her, “Morning.”
Seeing her enter the kitchen as usual, Su Linyuan got up and followed her. “Jiang Xianyu, you shouldn’t bring emotions to work.” Jiang Xianyu looked puzzled. Su Linyuan shook his phone, “Why didn’t you accept my WeChat friend request?” Jiang Xianyu pulled out her phone to check. “Mr. Su, you should’ve added a note about who you are. I thought it was a mass message from a spam account.”
Su Linyuan pursed his lips and looked at his profile picture. A black background with a single letter ‘S’ in the middle. Such a low-key, luxurious, and meaningful avatar-how could it possibly look like a spam account?
