From Dropout to Housemaid-The Upper Crust's Favorite - Chapter 21 - Good Taste
The villa was spacious, with deep corridors.
Jiang Xianyu’s voice was gentle and melodious, her pace moderate, reminiscent of the fleeting impression Su Linyuan had from their phone conversation.
His ears, initially warm from embarrassment, gradually tingled with a pleasant itch.
He reached up and rubbed his ears again, which were now flushed like gemstones.
Jiang Xianyu glanced at him.
Su Linyuan felt the heat spreading from his ears to his face.
In her mind, Jiang Xianyu recalled Butler Lu’s words.
He had said that when Young Master was nervous or embarrassed, his face would turn noticeably red, and it was best to pretend not to notice.
She tried to ignore his flushed complexion, keeping her voice steady.
“Mr. Su, would you like to go downstairs for breakfast now?”
The hotter Su Linyuan’s face became, the cooler his expression grew. He nodded and turned to head downstairs.
Jiang Xianyu followed him at a safe distance of about two meters.
Su Linyuan’s expression softened as he looked at the breakfast on the dining table, and the temperature on his face gradually decreased.
He sat at the table, picked up the chopsticks, and began to eat.
Only then did Jiang Xianyu notice that his right index finger was slightly straightened, not bent.
It seemed that the injury from the shattered porcelain must have been on his right index finger.
Wounds at the finger joints are the most uncomfortable, especially on the frequently used right hand. A little carelessness could cause the finger to crack open when exerting force.
She glanced at Su Linyuan, who was enjoying his breakfast, turned around, and found the medicine box, taking out a flesh-colored band-aid.
But looking at the aloof Su Linyuan, she hesitated for a moment.
When he inadvertently moved his index finger, Jiang Xianyu bit her lip, walked forward, and silently placed the band-aid beside him, pushing it towards Su Linyuan with a finger.
Su Linyuan’s gaze followed the band-aid upwards, landing on Jiang Xianyu’s face.
Their eyes met.
Jiang Xianyu blinked unconsciously and said, “Mr. Su, the wound on your index finger is right at the joint. Using a band-aid would make it easier to move.”
Su Linyuan nodded, withdrew his gaze, and continued eating breakfast, while the band-aid remained untouched on the table.
The little person in Jiang Xianyu’s heart shrugged.
It was his hand, whether he used the band-aid or not didn’t matter. She had fulfilled her responsibility.
Seeing that he was temporarily fine, Jiang Xianyu went to the kitchen to start her breakfast.
Hearing the noise behind him, Su Linyuan glanced back at Jiang Xianyu.
In the spacious kitchen, Jiang Xianyu sat on a chair, with a breakfast identical to his on the counter. The young girl ate elegantly.
Su Linyuan couldn’t quite pinpoint the feeling.
There was a peculiar sense of discomfort in his heart.
Not being familiar with Jiang Xianyu, he didn’t say much. After quickly finishing breakfast, he got up to put on his suit and coat.
Seeing the band-aid on the dining table, his hand paused while buttoning up, then he swiftly applied the band-aid to the wound on his index finger.
As he was about to leave, Su Linyuan noticed a fluffy, thick winter coat placed on one end of the bench at the entrance.
He felt the coat looked familiar, but couldn’t recall where he had seen it.
He brushed off the thought and turned to leave.
Outside the foyer, a bright green, round little E-ride suddenly caught Su Linyuan’s attention. He glanced at it for a couple of seconds, and a subtle smile curved his lips. So, it was her who rode the E-ride last night. Without dwelling on it, he turned and headed to the garage to drive to work.
Hearing the car engine, Jiang Xianyu knew Su Linyuan had left for work. She tidied up the dishes on the dining table before heading upstairs to clean the bedroom.
In the bedroom, Su Linyuan’s casual clothes were neatly placed on the bench at the foot of the bed. Jiang Xianyu gathered the clothes, preparing to wash them. Suddenly, a piece of black fabric fell to the floor, and her eyes widened slightly. She picked up the men’s underwear with two fingers, closed her eyes briefly, and muttered to herself, “Be professional, I’m a professional housemaid. It’s just a man’s underwear, just a small piece of fabric!”
With that thought, she opened her eyes and put the other clothes into the washing machine, saving the underwear for separate cleaning. Generally, Su Linyuan’s suits and coats were handled by a dry cleaning service, but casual wear, underwear, and other washable items were part of her duties. Fortunately, the man changed clothes daily and frequently bought new ones, and he was quite clean, so washing them was relatively easy.
Suppressing her discomfort, Jiang Xianyu used Su Linyuan’s expensive detergent to wash the underwear. Once it was hung up to dry, she breathed a sigh of relief. While the clothes were still spinning in the washing machine, Jiang Xianyu tidied the bed and cleaned the room. When everything was done, she took a break on the sofa before riding her E-ride back to Jinxiu Garden.
Around four in the afternoon, Jiang Xianyu packed her laptop and rode to Banshan Villa. She had invested her money in the stock market and couldn’t just ignore it; she needed to check on the market from time to time. Remembering how Su Linyuan had broken the dishes yesterday, Jiang Xianyu decided to wait until he finished dinner to clean up before leaving. She feared that if such incidents happened again, her heart might not be able to take it. Those dishes were custom-made, costing as much as her monthly salary. A few pieces were broken, and the rest were discarded. She only found out today when Assistant Zhao sent her a WeChat message instructing her to throw away the remaining dishes. Indeed, she couldn’t comprehend the world of the wealthy.
Su Linyuan returned home at six-thirty as usual. Upon arriving, he noticed the living room lights were on. At the entrance, he changed his shoes and saw a pair of women’s shoes-not slippers, but outdoor shoes. Could it be that Jiang Xianyu hadn’t left?
He hung up his coat and walked into the living room, where he found Jiang Xianyu with earphones plugged in, sitting on the carpet in front of the coffee table, her hands busy on her laptop. The red and green lines on the screen revealed to Su Linyuan what Jiang Xianyu was doing. She was trading stocks.
A tall shadow cast over Jiang Xianyu’s laptop screen, prompting her to look up and meet Su Linyuan’s curious gaze. She removed her earphones, which were playing music, and instinctively spoke, “You’re back from work?”
Su Linyuan nodded. Perhaps due to the silence during his drive, his voice sounded slightly deep. “Trading stocks?” he asked.
Jiang Xianyu nodded. She had no intention of closing the laptop to hide her trading screen from him. Her assets, amounting to tens of thousands, were insignificant in the eyes of the man before her. Su Linyuan noticed she didn’t mind him looking at her trading interface, so he bent down to take a closer look. The screen displayed the K-line chart for Xinyang Technology.
Jiang Xianyu had bought quite a bit of Xinyang Technology stock, being intimately familiar with the project she had secured herself. She even had a clear understanding of its trajectory eight years into the future. Su Linyuan glanced at Jiang Xianyu in surprise. “Good eye.”
He had initially been optimistic about Xinyang and considered acquiring the project, but Huayuan Venture Capital had snatched it away. He heard from his subordinates that it was a newly appointed VP at Huayuan who had secured it. He remembered the VP’s surname was Jiang, and her English name was Gina. He was curious about the person who had taken their project, but he hadn’t heard any news about her recently.
