Jiang Xianyu still had a week before starting her new job.
She decided to invest her savings in the stock market.
Previously, her bank account held 538,000 yuan. With the monthly compensation, along with the wages, bonuses, and red envelopes she received during her two months as a housemaid, her total savings had grown to 630,000 yuan.
Being someone who had worked in the financial sector and knowing the market trends for the next eight years, she was confident she could make a decent profit.
She set aside 30,000 yuan for emergencies and invested the remaining 600,000 yuan into the stock market.
Since she would continue earning a salary from her job, she wasn’t worried about daily expenses.
The week passed quickly.
For convenience in commuting, Jiang Xianyu bought herself a small avocado-green electric scooter.
She rode her scooter to Banshan Villa.
Waiting for her at the entrance was a lean man in a suit, wearing gold-rimmed glasses.
When the man saw her arriving on the scooter, he froze for a moment. Then, snapping out of it, he asked, “Are you Jiang Xianyu?”
She nodded.
She recognized him-Su Linyuan’s assistant, Zhao Tianming.
She had seen him before at a business event, standing beside Su Linyuan. Back then, she hadn’t yet been promoted to VP and didn’t have the status to interact with them.
“Hello, Miss Jiang. I’m Zhao Tianming, Mr. Su’s assistant. Let me brief you on this month’s work.”
Jiang Xianyu parked her scooter, removed her helmet, and followed Zhao Tianming into the villa.
The villa had a large garden. Even though it was already mid-December, the garden was still vibrant and full of life.
The lawn was immaculate, and the shrubs were trimmed to perfection.
Because of the garden’s size, it took them a while to walk to the main entrance.
The villa had three floors. From the entrance, they stepped into a spacious foyer.
Both Zhao Tianming and Jiang Xianyu changed into indoor slippers, neatly aligning their shoes without a word.
They exchanged a glance, and in that moment, each saw a mix of surprise and understanding in the other’s eyes.
Zhao Tianming let out a deep sigh of relief.
It seemed Miss Jiang had done her homework and was aware of Mr. Su’s preferences-especially his intolerance for messiness.
This job wasn’t too different from her previous one with the Su Family.
Her main responsibilities were cooking and tidying up the kitchen, study, and bedroom.
The rest of the villa would be cleaned by professional housekeeping staff.
With a villa this size, hiring specialists was only logical.
Zhao Tianming handed Jiang Xianyu a schedule.
“This is Mr. Su’s daily routine. Your primary tasks will be preparing breakfast and dinner. Mr. Su doesn’t come home for lunch.”
Jiang Xianyu glanced at the schedule. It was more or less what she had expected.
Su Linyuan left for the office at 9 a.m., with a 20-minute commute. This meant he needed to leave the house by 8:40 a.m., so breakfast had to be ready by 8:20 a.m.
She did a quick calculation. Waking up at 7 a.m. would give her plenty of time.
It would take her about 30 minutes to freshen up and get to the villa. Starting breakfast at 7:30 a.m. would leave her more than enough time.
In the evenings, Su Linyuan finished work at 5 p.m. He usually stayed at the office a bit longer, so he’d get home around 6:30 p.m.
As long as dinner was ready by 6:30 p.m., everything would be fine.
“Miss Jiang, do you have any concerns about this schedule?” Zhao Tianming asked politely.
He was being especially courteous, as per the old lady’s instructions.
“The schedule works for me,” Jiang Xianyu replied.
Zhao Tianming’s tense expression visibly relaxed, and a smile appeared on his face. “That’s great to hear.”
Thinking about Su Linyuan’s strong territorial instincts, Zhao Tianming hesitated as he looked at Jiang Xianyu.
Previously, Qian had lived here as the resident housemaid, and Miss Jiang had also applied for a live-in position. However, Mr. Su had specifically requested someone who would only work daytime hours.
Jiang Xianyu noticed Zhao Tianming’s hesitation and quickly pieced together the reason behind it.
“Assistant Zhao, I’ve rented a place near the villa community. It’s convenient for me to commute by bike every day, so I don’t think I need to live here.”
Zhao Tianming felt a bit embarrassed after hearing her explanation.
“Our Mr. Su’s personality is just like that-it’s nothing personal. I’ll apply for transportation and housing subsidies for you later.”
Jiang Xianyu smiled. “Thank you, Assistant Zhao.”
“It’s my duty, really.”
Recalling the instructions he had given her about preparing dinner, Zhao Tianming added, “Once you’ve finished making dinner, you can head home. You can clean up the dishes and utensils the next morning.”
“Alright,” Jiang Xianyu agreed readily.
Seeing that everything was settled, Zhao Tianming led Jiang Xianyu upstairs.
“Most of Mr. Su’s activities take place on the third floor.”
The third floor featured a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet, along with a study, gym, and media room. A south-facing lounge had been converted into a relaxation area, and from there, a door led out to a large south-facing terrace.
The terrace was tastefully arranged-not overly crowded with plants but perfect for sipping wine or hosting a barbecue.
Zhao Tianming took Jiang Xianyu into the master bedroom.
The room was spacious, but contrary to the stereotypical image of a president’s dark and opulent quarters, this bedroom was minimalist and visually bright. The bedding was a solid gray-blue without any patterns.
At the moment, the bedspread was slightly disheveled, likely because Qian had left and no one had tidied up.
Next, Zhao Tianming showed her the walk-in closet.
Rows of clothes were neatly organized by color, and ties, shoes, watches, rings, and other accessories were displayed as if in a showroom.
Jiang Xianyu glanced around and noted that none of the watches seemed to be worth less than a million yuan. She couldn’t help but marvel inwardly. No wonder ordinary cleaning staff weren’t allowed in the bedroom.
Qian, being a long-time member of the Su Family, had earned their trust. Jiang Xianyu’s access to the room was likely thanks to Grandpa Su and Grandma Su’s endorsement.
Zhao Tianming also showed her the study.
The study was simply furnished, with a wall of bookshelves, a desk, and a cozy sofa for relaxation.
Jiang Xianyu scanned the titles on the shelves and recognized many finance-related books she had read before.
After finishing the tour of the third floor, they moved down to the second floor, where Zhao Tianming briefly explained the layout. Finally, they headed to the first floor.
The south-facing bedroom on the first floor had been Qian’s quarters. The door was locked now, and it wouldn’t require any attention going forward.
Satisfied that Jiang Xianyu had a good understanding of the setup, Zhao Tianming said, “Once you’ve handled these tasks, your work is done for the day. The rest of your time is yours to use as you wish-you don’t need to stay here.”
Jiang Xianyu’s eyes lit up. Once her tasks were completed, her time would be her own.
“Understood, Assistant Zhao.”
“I’ll help you register your fingerprint access. After that, you can tidy up the bedroom and study, and then prepare dinner at the designated time.”
Jiang Xianyu nodded to show she understood.
“Oh, by the way, you don’t need to buy fruit or flowers. They’re delivered daily. Certain high-end ingredients will also be delivered directly. For regular condiments and groceries, you can shop at the supermarket outside the villa community.”
As he spoke, Zhao Tianming handed her a card.
“This is for shopping expenses. Just swipe the card when you need to buy something. The PIN is written on the cardholder.”
Jiang Xianyu accepted the card and tucked it away.
She couldn’t help but marvel again-this job clearly required someone trustworthy.
“Don’t worry, Assistant Zhao. I’ll keep the receipts and provide them for reconciliation later.”
Such matters wouldn’t concern Su Linyuan directly; they would typically be handled by his assistant.
Sure enough, Zhao Tianming pulled out his phone and added Jiang Xianyu as a contact.
“Just take a photo of the receipts and send them to me on WeChat.”
Jiang Xianyu nodded.
Seeing that there were no further issues, Zhao Tianming helped her register her fingerprint access and then left for the office.
He still had plenty of work waiting for him.
