From Dropout to Housemaid-The Upper Crust's Favorite - Chapter 17 - The Next Employer
With Butler Lu’s detailed description, Jiang Xianyu now had a fairly clear impression of her next employer, Su Linyuan.
Su Linyuan, twenty-nine years old, standing at an impressive height of 1.9 meters, with pale skin and a habitually expressionless face. His demeanor in the business world was known for being ruthless and decisive.
These were the surface-level impressions she had gathered about the president of Chengyuan Capital before.
Butler Lu added that Young Master Su didn’t always wear a cold expression. It was merely a facade he maintained to command authority among his employees and in the business world, given his strikingly good looks.
As for his professional style, Butler Lu didn’t elaborate much, knowing Jiang Xianyu, having navigated the capital market herself, would already understand.
In his personal life, Su Linyuan had a strong sense of territoriality.
Aside from Qian, the housemaid, and other domestic staff, very few people were allowed into his space. Over the years, the only non-domestic individual who had set foot in his home was his assistant, Zhao Tianming.
While he seemed invincible in the business world, in daily life, he was surprisingly inexperienced in certain areas.
Butler Lu concluded his briefing with a rather amusing detail: the renowned Mr. Su had a fear of insects.
Despite living in a standalone villa, he resided on the third floor to minimize encounters with mosquitoes and other bugs.
Additionally, Butler Lu described Mr. Su as someone with an obsessive love for cleanliness, unable to tolerate any mess or disorder.
One last piece of information, shared almost as an afterthought, was that Mr. Su had a peculiar tendency to blush when nervous or embarrassed. Perhaps due to his fair complexion, the redness was always strikingly obvious.
This, too, contributed to his cold exterior, as he tried to avoid situations that might trigger such reactions.
Should such a moment arise, Butler Lu advised Jiang Xianyu to act as though she hadn’t noticed his blushing-otherwise, he might become flustered and angry.
After reviewing her meticulously detailed notes, Jiang Xianyu quietly closed her notebook.
She couldn’t help but imagine that if Mr. Su ever discovered this notebook, he might chase her down with a knife.
Given Su Linyuan’s strong territorial instincts and the fact that they were unfamiliar with each other, Jiang Xianyu decided to rent a place nearby rather than becoming a live-in housekeeper.
It seemed unlikely that he would appreciate having someone he didn’t know well living under his roof.
Su Linyuan resided at Luoxia Mountain Villa, located in the Banshan Villa area. Jiang Xianyu planned to find a rental nearby to make commuting more convenient.
Luoxia Mountain Villa was also close to Chengyuan Capital, and her close friend Liu Lijun happened to be renting an apartment in the area. Jiang Xianyu decided to ask her if there were any available rentals nearby.
Liu Lijun was more than enthusiastic about helping Jiang Xianyu find a place.
She knew all too well how difficult it was to get Jiang Xianyu to agree to meet up, so this was a rare opportunity to spend time together.
By the time Jiang Xianyu had two days left at her current job, Liu Lijun had successfully secured an apartment for her.
The rent was comparable to what Liu Lijun was paying-a single apartment on the fifth floor, primarily occupied by corporate professionals. The surrounding amenities were well-developed, making it a convenient location.
Jiang Xianyu was quite satisfied with the arrangement.
She had no plans to return to her hometown or move to another city for the time being, so she decided to invest in a better rental.
Her previous apartment had been chosen purely for its low cost, but that was no longer necessary.
The day before Jiang Xianyu finished her job, Grandpa Su and Grandma Su settled her wages.
Forty thousand yuan for two months.
Before she left, the elderly couple each handed Jiang Xianyu a red envelope with ten thousand yuan inside.
Fearing she might refuse, they explained it was an additional bonus for her work during this time. After all, what she had done far exceeded the duties of a regular housemaid.
Jiang Xianyu took out the gifts she had prepared in advance.
For Old Master Su, it was a set of fishing gear. She joked, “I carefully selected this set. Maybe it’ll give you an extra edge.”
Old Master Su’s gloom over losing his fishing companion instantly dissipated.
He happily accepted the fishing gear. “I’ll try it out tomorrow. Old Li will probably be green with envy.”
For Grandma Su, Jiang Xianyu chose a new massage device from Xinyang Technology. It could be used for both shoulder and lower back massages.
Though a bit pricey, the results were excellent. She had noticed Grandma Su rubbing her shoulders and waist a few times, likely due to discomfort in those areas.
Grandma Su was deeply touched and accepted the gift without hesitation.
For Butler Lu, she had picked out a meticulously chosen tea set.
Although Butler Lu didn’t seem to have any particular hobbies on the surface, Jiang Xianyu had observed him for a while and noticed his fondness for tea. His room was filled with various tea sets and tea pets.
Her gift hit the mark perfectly. Butler Lu’s expression softened noticeably.
On the day Jiang Xianyu left, Liu Lijun came to pick her up in her car.
As soon as Liu Lijun arrived at the villa’s entrance, she was startled by the scene.
Wow, the Su Family’s gate was surrounded by a group of elderly folks. If it weren’t for her best friend standing in the middle of the crowd with a cheerful smile, she might have thought Jiang Xianyu was being mobbed.
It turned out that the grandparents who had danced in the square and fished with Jiang Xianyu had come to see her off.
After bidding farewell to everyone, Jiang Xianyu, with Liu Lijun’s help, loaded her luggage into the car and got in.
As the car pulled away, Liu Lijun could still hear one of the old men shouting.
“Xiao Yu! Come back and fish with us when you have time~~”
Once they exited the villa area, Liu Lijun couldn’t hold back her laughter.
“I always knew you had a way with both the elderly and kids, but I didn’t expect it to be this good. Some of those grandpas looked like they were about to cry.”
Jiang Xianyu felt a bit embarrassed by her teasing. “The one you’re talking about is Grandpa Li. He firmly believes I can help him catch fish, which is why he’s like that.”
Liu Lijun was curious. “He doesn’t catch any fish when he goes fishing?”
Jiang Xianyu glanced at her and uttered two words, “Air force.”
Liu Lijun froze for a moment before bursting into laughter.
The two chatted all the way to Jinxiu Garden, where Jiang Xianyu had rented her new apartment.
It was only two bus stops away from Liu Lijun’s Binjiang Apartment.
Liu Lijun had taken the time after work the previous evening to help her tidy up the place.
The apartment wasn’t large, but it was well-equipped.
Each area was cleverly divided with partitions and other designs, making it very suitable for one person to live in.
In the afternoon, Liu Lijun took Jiang Xianyu to the nearby market to buy groceries and familiarize herself with the area.
The neighborhood was convenient, with complete infrastructure. Jiang Xianyu was even more satisfied after seeing it.
She decided to cook a nice dinner that evening to properly thank Liu Lijun.
As she ate the meal her best friend had lovingly prepared, Liu Lijun was nearly moved to tears.
“It’s been so long since I’ve had a proper meal like this.”
Not being skilled in cooking herself, she could only indulge in such feasts when visiting her best friend.
“Now that we live close to each other, you can come over for dinner in the evenings if you have time.”
Liu Lijun immediately puckered her lips, pretending to give Jiang Xianyu a loving kiss, only to be playfully pushed away with a laugh.
After dinner, the two sat on the carpet, chatting while watching TV.
“Now that this job is over, what’s your plan?” Liu Lijun asked.
Jiang Xianyu was silent for a moment before replying, “Grandma Su has already found me my next job.”
Seeing Liu Lijun’s curious gaze, she continued, “At your boss’s house.”
Liu Lijun’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Whose house?!”
“Su Linyuan’s house.”
Liu Lijun looked horrified. “Girl, why is your life so tough?!”
The image of her boss, cold and almost devoid of humanity during meetings, flashed through her mind. She clasped her hands together as if in prayer. “May all the gods protect my dear Xiao Yu through this job.”
Jiang Xianyu chuckled. “It’s not that dramatic.”
Liu Lijun wagged her finger. “You don’t understand. Just hearing his name gives me PTSD.”
“That’s just his work persona,” Jiang Xianyu reasoned. From what Butler Lu had described, he seemed much more human.
At this point, Liu Lijun decided not to scare her best friend any further.
“Maybe… maybe you’re right.”
