Fox's Charm, Heart's Chaos - Chapter 4 - The Struggle between Two Kings 1
Wan Mimi leaped into the river, her body slowly sinking as a large bubble expanded around her, enveloping her entire form.
She gazed at the distorted reflection on the water’s surface, a faint smile gracing her lips.
She did not know if she was truly safe now, but she felt extremely weary. Even if the wounds on her body healed, there was still something amiss. However, she couldn’t quite pinpoint what was wrong. In any case, she desperately needed rest.
The water was warm, and Wan Mimi finally drifted into a deep sleep, surrounded by warmth.
The Flame Spirit King looked at the Devil King in front of him and felt an overwhelming annoyance. This was the Devil King, Xilaphiel, the person he least wanted to confront. Among the six realms, he was the most taciturn figure, almost no one could draw more than three words from him, no matter the circumstances.
“Why are you blocking me?”
The Flame Spirit King shouted angrily, causing leaves to fall from the surrounding trees. However, the water beneath the Devil King Xilaphiel remained calm and still. Below the surface, a white figure could be seen peacefully sleeping, her expression serene.
“…”
Xilaphiel remained silent, which only fueled the Flame Spirit King’s rage even further. What he detested most was Xilaphiel’s propensity for keeping his words to a minimum. His frustration was already boiling over, and this trait drove him to the brink.
“Why? If you don’t give me a reason, let her come out! She is a criminal of the six realms, and I cannot allow her to remain here!”
As the Flame Spirit King spoke, he aimed the long blade in his hand at Xilaphiel. With his expression, it was clear that if he wasn’t allowed to take away the millennium spirit fox today, he would be forced to engage in battle with Xilaphiel.
“…”
Xilaphiel continued to remain silent, but he raised his palm slightly as a black spear appeared in his hand, accompanied by a matching dark aura that looked like a bloodthirsty weapon. In fact, it was indeed an ominous item that would spill blood upon its emergence.
The two men immediately became entangled in a fierce struggle, with explosive sounds of “bangs” echoing between them. Blue and black halos flickered, lighting up the surroundings in an ever-changing glow.
The devil king Xilaphiel was not one to meddle in others’ affairs, yet there was the millennium spirit fox that the Lion King desired, and he himself had equal interest. If he could obtain the millennium spirit fox and unite with it, he would gain not only a hundredfold increase in his spiritual power but also elevate his entire clan’s status, possibly even surpassing the heaven realm in the future.
With such an opportunity at hand, he was determined not to let it slip away. Moreover, the spirit fox was incredibly charming; even an ordinary fox could steal one’s heart, so to unite with a millennium spirit fox was something the devil king Xilaphiel yearned for.
However, the person in front of him was a significant obstacle. While he tangled with the Lion King’s plans, Xilaphiel was not someone easily fooled. To take the millennium spirit fox from him? Ha! That would take at least another ten thousand years of cultivation!
The millennium spirit fox was clearly injured, likely by the very nuisance standing before him. If he were to unite with it now, the results could be lessened several times, making him wait even longer. What a hassle!
Given this thought, the Dark Lord Xilaphiel’s disdain for the person before him grew stronger. With a flourish, he drew a circle in the air with his spear, creating a black energy ring that shot toward the Flame Spirit King. The Flame Spirit King coughed up blood and was sent flying backward.
Xilaphiel was unwilling to engage in further skirmishes. Seizing the moment, he dove into the water, creating a spray that shot high into the air. When the water settled, nothing remained within; the surface was smooth and undisturbed, as if nothing had happened.
The first thing Wan Mimi heard upon regaining consciousness was the voice of a little girl.
“Your Majesty, the spirit fox is no longer in critical condition, but it has serious internal injuries. Its spiritual power may take over a month to improve, and it will take more than a year to fully heal.”
Wan Mimi did not open her eyes; instead, she listened closely for a long time but did not hear the “devil king’s” voice. Just as she was puzzled, someone grasped her wrist and pulled her upright.
Instinctively opening her eyes, she was met with a pair of bottomless eyes.
Leaning back slightly, she caught a glimpse of the full face-a slightly thick brow, deep-set eyes, a prominent nose, rugged lips, and an ear with a single pink earlobe visible. The entire face was truly a divine gift, strikingly handsome.
Habitually, Wan Mimi reached out to touch the man’s face, then puckered her red lips slightly, and with a soft “muah,” she planted a resounding kiss on his cheek.
After the kiss, Wan Mimi softly complimented him, “Your skin is so smooth, even better than a woman’s.”
The devil king Xilaphiel made no move; he merely furrowed his brow for a moment before relaxing it. As he regarded the woman before him and reflected on her earlier actions, he found himself surprisingly unrepulsed, even savoring the moment a little.
Wan Mimi thought the handsome man would either push her away or get angry at her sudden boldness. But to her surprise, there wasn’t a hint of rejection. Overjoyed, her arms instinctively wrapped around his neck, and, emboldened by his lack of resistance, she leaned in and kissed those alluring lips.
Xilaphiel was startled by Wan Mimi’s audacity. However, when someone offers such a passionate kiss for free, he wasn’t someone to be stingy enough to refuse-especially when the experience itself was… not unpleasant.
Their lips locked, their breathing grew unsteady, and their tongues intertwined as they lost themselves in each other’s heat and desire.
Wan Mimi kissed so fervently that her body grew weak. Her arms slipped from around Xilaphiel’s neck and rested against his broad chest for support.
Finally, they broke apart, both gasping for air. Xilaphiel’s deep, unfathomable eyes lingered on her for a moment. But without a word, he stood up and turned away, leaving Wan Mimi sitting there, lips still tingling and mind caught in the haze of their fiery kiss.
She was so lost in the memory of that kiss that she didn’t even notice someone approaching until the person spoke with a teasing voice.
“Oh, old fox, you’re finally awake?”
The voice belonged to a young girl. She spoke politely enough, but the moment she referred to Wan Mimi as an “old fox,” Wan Mimi’s temper almost flared. Yet, after a moment of reflection, she thought better of it. After all, being the millennium spirit fox, wasn’t she technically… old? With a sigh of resignation, she decided to let it slide.
“Hey, my your majesty saved you,” the girl continued, grinning impishly. “Don’t you think you should repay him with your life or something?”
Wan Mimi was about to jokingly agree when the girl didn’t even give her a chance to respond before barreling ahead.
“My lord went head-to-head with that grumpy flame spirit king just for you! Although he didn’t get hurt, this was the first time he’s ever broken protocol to defend someone from another clan. So, technically, you owe him a huge favor! You’d better stay here, rest up for the next year until you’re fully healed and your spiritual power is restored, and then present yourself to my lord as a token of gratitude!”
The young girl leaned in slightly, wagging her finger at Wan Mimi as if to emphasize her point. “I’m telling you-”
Wan Mimi couldn’t help but tune her out halfway. This girl, as chatty as a sparrow, was the complete opposite of the stoic and mysterious devil king-your majesty. The contrast between them was amusing, and Wan Mimi found herself struggling to stifle a laugh. This pair of master and servant was truly a rare combination.
