Fox's Charm, Heart's Chaos - Chapter 3 - Always Running 3
It seemed that none of this was a dream. So, what was strange about her body? Why could she release that white light orb? Why was she able to move freely through the air? And most importantly, was she really the so-called millennium spirit fox? How had she turned into a human? And how could she turn back into a fox? What exactly was she?
And then, there was that person who had just tried to kill her-why? Why had those people before wanted to offer her to the lion king?
What was so special about her that all these things kept happening?
She had no clues!
The stone behind her gave Wan Mimi a sliver of safety, but she knew she couldn’t hide here forever. The black-clad pursuers would find her sooner or later, and she couldn’t possibly survive without food or water for much longer, could she?
But then again, if she was really the millennium spirit fox, could she live without eating?
Forget it. She’d just take it one step at a time. Overthinking wouldn’t help her now-there was no use in even trying.
The flame spirit king felt humiliated for having lost track of a single fox. This only strengthened his resolve to tear the fox into pieces.
No one had ever dared challenge the flame spirit king. In the heaven realm, he was unrivaled-at least, when it came to combat.
Today, a mere fox had managed to elude him. If he didn’t catch her and restore his honor, where would his dignity go?
Narrowing his eyes, he meticulously scanned the dense, leafy forest. He couldn’t help but think that the fox was foolish. She hadn’t even bothered concealing her aura. Was she intentionally trying to lure him closer?
Still, the fox seemed injured. Her spiritual power was clearly depleted. Could she possibly have another trick up her sleeve?
This forest was an ancient one, over ten thousand years old, teeming with countless rare and exotic creatures. Just the variety of birds alone could leave one dazzled. Usually, it would be lively and bustling with chirps and calls, but now it was eerily silent. The oppressive and violent aura emanating from the black-clad figure scared the creatures into hiding. They didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly, staying curled up in their nests.
The flame spirit king stood still for a long time. He sensed the millennium spirit fox’s aura fluctuating between strong and weak, almost like that of a person who had never cultivated before. Even an ordinary martial artist would be far stronger than her right now.
What was going on?
Even with injuries, she shouldn’t have lost control of her aura like this!
It was clear-something unusual was happening today.
But no matter how many schemes or tricks this fox had up her sleeve, she was insignificant in the eyes of the flame spirit king. A fox like this wasn’t even worth his notice.
As she pondered, the Flame Spirit King swiftly moved towards the fox’s location, withering all flowers, desiccating the grass, and causing leaves to drop as he passed. In an instant, the once thriving area transformed into a desolate landscape.
Suddenly, Wan Mimi heard the sound of the wind, and a signal in her mind indicated that he was approaching!
Crouching down, Wan Mimi attempted to flee but saw that he had already reached her. She turned to run, but he caught her arms and legs.
Such a direct approach was something Wan Mimi had not anticipated. Caught off guard, he struck her chest with his palm, causing blood to spill from her lips and stain her white front.
She immediately tried to retaliate, but he was prepared and blocked her, preventing any escape. Wan Mimi, already severely injured, hesitated with every movement. His superior magic far exceeded hers, leaving her to hastily respond to his actions without gaining the upper hand.
In an unguarded moment, Wan Mimi broke free from his grasp. The continuous flow of magic within her began to heal her internal injuries slowly.
Although she had escaped his grasp, she still couldn’t find a way to fully free herself and had to keep defending in place while seeking an opportunity.
The Flame Spirit King hadn’t expected this millennia-old fox to be so formidable. Despite his multiple attempts, all his attacks were thwarted. Though he gained some advantages, he was temporarily unable to defeat her. It was no wonder that so many had failed to capture her, given her formidable nature.
A glint appeared in his eyes, and suddenly, the Flame Spirit King gripped a slender, curved dagger. As he held the handle tightly, the blade slightly trembled, and a blue ring of light rapidly expanded outward from the tip, heading straight for Wan Mimi, who narrowly evaded it.
Wan Mimi leaped away from the blue light ring, her hands secretly gathering her body’s magic, preparing to strike back heavily when the opportunity arose.
The Flame Spirit King, now furious, had his normally black pupils turn blood-red, and even the whites of his eyes turned crimson.
With bloodshot eyes, the Flame Spirit King was determined to dismember this detestable fox today or his resentment would remain unquenched.
Seeing him like this, Wan Mimi was greatly alarmed. As he slashed at her, she had no place to hide and could only slightly deflect his attack. After being hit, she immediately jumped away, instinctively returning a palm strike and taking advantage of his brief pause to escape.
Her injuries were severe, and she bled continuously, yet her body’s remarkable healing abilities were evident. Without any bandaging or treatment, the bleeding slowly ceased, and she could feel her body repairing itself.
The Flame Spirit King was close behind, and Wan Mimi could only keep running forward, thinking that as long as she could keep running, she would eventually find a way to escape.
Ahead lay a river, and although Wan Mimi didn’t know exactly what place it was or what the river contained, anything was less dangerous than the black-clad man behind her.
