For Your Happiness - Chapter 61 - For Your Happiness
her tears of joy.
Wu Di wiped her tears with his hand. “Silly,” he said, pulling her into his arms, letting her cry and find comfort there.
Shao Han was too happy, feeling a mix of suppressed emotions-fear, concern-and upon hearing the strong, steady heartbeat of the little life growing inside her, it confirmed the presence of another heartbeat. That wonderful feeling, that special emotion, was truly unimaginable.
Her tears of joy caught the attention of others around them, but Wu Di didn’t notice until later. He quickly patted Shao Han.
“Hey, we just got our baby, and you’re crying like this. Others might think we lost the baby.”
“Don’t say that!” Shao Han said, angrily leaving his embrace.
“I’m sorry,” Wu Di apologized quickly. “But please, stop crying, okay? Tell me the good news.”
“Okay,” Shao Han said, drying her tears.
“That’s better,” Wu Di said, looking down at her and gently pinching her chin.
“Look, the doctor said this is the baby’s picture,” Shao Han said, pointing to the black image.
“Where? Which part? How do you see it? Where is the fetus?” Wu Di asked, examining the blurry picture from different angles, unable to make out where the little baby was.
“He hasn’t grown yet,” Shao Han replied, not really knowing what the baby looked like either.
“We should take this to the doctor and have them explain these values in detail,” Wu Di suggested, since he couldn’t understand.
“Okay.”
“The fetus is doing well and is perfectly normal. All the metrics are fine. Make sure to maintain good nutrition at home and come regularly for prenatal check-ups,” the doctor advised.
“Doctor, she’s been vomiting a lot, and whatever she eats comes back up soon after. Plus, her weight has been dropping for the past two months. Will this affect the baby’s growth?” Wu Di asked seriously.
“Pregnancy reactions vary for everyone. The first three months are usually harder; some feel better by the fourth month, while others may experience it throughout the pregnancy. If she can’t keep food down, we’ll guide you on what to do.”
“Oh, is there any good solution?”
“It varies from person to person, so you’ll need to find what works for you,” the doctor said, pausing to write in the medical record. “Also, avoid intercourse during the first three months of pregnancy.”
“Alright,” Wu Di replied.
After the doctor gave some simple instructions, Shao Han and Wu Di left the hospital.
In the car, Shao Han said to Wu Di, “I believe this child will be very healthy. The last baby must have been weak, which is why we lost them so easily.”
“Really?” Wu Di responded.
“Definitely. Last time I was pregnant, we were going through the hardest times. You were drinking excessively, and there was a lot of stress, which I’m sure contributed to the baby’s health issues,” Shao Han said, sounding like she understood it all.
“And how about now?”
“Now we’re happy and in love, so the baby loves being with us too,” Shao Han said with a childlike smile.
“Hard to imagine,” Wu Di murmured, charmed by her cute demeanor.
“Imagine what?”
“That you’re like a kid, and now with a baby, it’s like I have two children.”
“Nonsense! You’re the one acting like a child. I should be the one worrying about taking care of two kids. Who knows if it’ll exhaust me,” Shao Han retorted.
“Haha.” No matter what, no matter when, Wu Di felt a happiness beyond compare. What more could he want in this life? To spend it with his wife and child, enjoying family life together. Isn’t this the moment he had been waiting for?
Wu Di’s heart was at ease, feeling that everything was so wonderful. All he needed now was to watch their baby grow day by day in Shao Han’s belly, then into the world, where they would raise, nurture, guide, and witness his success.
“Wu Di, I feel so happy,” Shao Han said, looking ahead.
“I’m even happier. Wife, this happiness is all because of you. Thank you.”
“For me, this life is all about making you happy,” Shao Han replied, turning to look at Wu Di.
Wu Di glanced at her while driving. “Really?”
“Of course, it’s true.”
“Then…” Wu Di suddenly reverted to his mischievous self. “Let me feel,” he joked, pretending to reach over.
“What?” Shao Han thought their conversation was so heartfelt, but he had started joking around again.
“The doctor said to avoid intimacy; it’s so tough,” Wu Di said, suddenly losing his serious tone and becoming playful again.
“Naughty, naughty, naughty, ruining the mood,” Shao Han said, playfully punching his shoulder.
“You hit me? We’re barred from intimacy, and you still hit me? I’m so tormented,” Wu Di said mischievously, making Shao Han both annoyed and amused, yet unable to do anything.
Laughing together, Shao Han suddenly remembered they needed to buy maternity items. She said to Wu Di, “Let’s go to the mall. We need to get some things for pregnant women, like UV protection clothing. I remember Liu Xin always wore them.”
“Okay, okay, let’s go now.” Wu Di changed direction and headed towards Xujiahui.
“Can we tell Dad and Mom now?” Wu Di thought about his parents who had always longed for a grandson. After the incident last time, they hadn’t dared to bring it up in front of them. Now that they had hope again, he wanted to share the news with them immediately. The thought also made him miss his own parents more, having developed a newfound understanding of parental love.
“Um… shouldn’t we wait until after three months?” Shao Han said hesitantly.
“I just really want them to know; they’ll be overjoyed. But if you’re not comfortable, we can wait,” Wu Di said with a smile.
“Go ahead and tell them. I’ll make sure to take good care of our baby,” Shao Han said, understanding the feelings of their parents.
“How about we invite them to dinner tonight?” Wu Di suggested excitedly.
“Sure,” Shao Han replied, looking at him with affection. As long as he was happy, everything was fine.
Wu Di was over the moon. He wanted to tell his dad that he was going to be a father too, just like him, and feel that same pride. After parking the car, he couldn’t wait to call his father.
“Hey, Dad, how about joining Shao Han and me for dinner tonight?”
“It’s really important, and you can’t miss it,” Wu Di added, unsure if his dad had other plans.
“Great, I’ll book a restaurant and let you know,” Wu Di said, smiling as he ended the call.
“What is it? Did your dad have other plans?” Shao Han asked, as Wu Di’s words had sounded like his father might be busy.
“No, he wants us to have dinner at their place.”
“Didn’t he ask what it was about?”
“I didn’t tell him; we’ll share the news face-to-face,” Wu Di said happily as he got out of the car. “Let’s go.” He extended his hand to Shao Han, who naturally took it, and together they headed straight to the maternity section.
