For Your Happiness - Chapter 56 - So Nervous
I don’t know how long we’ve been playing, but as my eyelids started fighting each other, Shao Han mumbled sleepily, “I’m sleepy.”
“Oh, then go to sleep.”
“Okay.” Shao Han climbed into bed, and as soon as her head hit the pillow, she fell into a deep sleep.
Wu Di walked over, kissed her forehead gently, and went back to his laptop to prepare some documents, leaving the iPad aside. He had been keeping Shao Han company by playing games with her all this time so she wouldn’t overthink.
The next morning, in the chilly January, Shao Han woke up, and it took a lot of courage to crawl out of the warm blankets.
“It’s so warm, I don’t want to get up,” she said lazily.
“I don’t want to get up either,” Wu Di, who had also woken up, replied with his eyes still closed.
“What should we do?”
“Don’t get up.”
Shao Han chuckled. “I’m going to your blanket.” Saying this, she started crawling towards Wu Di’s blanket.
“No.”
“Why?” Shao Han raised her voice.
“Last night I wanted you to come, and you didn’t. Now you can’t come in,” Wu Di said, holding the blanket tight.
“Meanie, I was warm last night, and you were cold. It took so long to warm up,” Shao Han cooed.
“Hmph! Warm, who warmed it up? It was all me, and then you heartlessly kept me out,” Wu Di pretended to sulk like a child.
“Hehehe, don’t be so petty, come on, let me in. I want a hug,” Shao Han started to act spoiled.
“Well… it’s not impossible, but…”
“Really? I’m coming over? Loosen the blanket,” Shao Han reached for Wu Di’s blanket.
“I haven’t stated my terms yet,” Wu Di said, holding the blanket tight.
“What?”
“You can come in, but you have to strip,” Wu Di said with a mischievous smile.
“Jerk, hmph!” Shao Han punched him through the blanket. “I’m not coming in.”
“Ha ha, okay, okay, I pity you, you can come in, come on,” Wu Di opened his blanket, waiting for Shao Han.
“Not coming in, hmph.”
“Really not coming in?”
“Not coming.” Shao Han pouted.
“Ha ha, so stingy,” Wu Di said as he yanked away Shao Han’s blanket and pulled his delicate wife into his arms.
Shao Han pretended to struggle but couldn’t help laughing as Wu Di held her tightly.
“I’ve been telling you to share a blanket with me, but you insist on having your own,” Wu Di said, his hands mischievously wandering as he held her.
“Share a blanket with you? You always get hot and kick the blanket off. If you kick it all off, I’ll turn into an icicle.”
“Then hold onto me. I’m like a little furnace, burning hot,” Wu Di chuckled. “Now, I’m burning hot all over.”
“Dizzy, stop it, it’s too early in the morning, and there’s no time for this.”
“Oh? But… but… I can’t take it anymore.” Wu Di was burning with desire. “Who told you to sneak under the blanket so early in the morning? You can’t be so irresponsible.”
“Ah??? So this is my fault?”
“No matter, I want you now,” Wu Di said as he reached for Shao Han’s clothes.
“Hey, aren’t we going to work?” Shao Han made a gesture to stop him.
“I’m the boss. I make the rules. Who’s going to stop me?” Wu Di said before he overwhelmed Shao Han, kissing her to silence any further speech.
A passionate morning ensued.
“You’re so bad,” Shao Han said, her cheeks still flushed as she playfully hit Wu Di’s bare chest.
“Bad? Don’t you like it?” Wu Di leaned in close, kissing her face, her neck, making Shao Han giggle.
“Okay, okay.”
“Okay? Is that enough?” Wu Di teased.
“Stop it.”
“I want more,” Wu Di continued to kiss her everywhere.
“Ah? You?”
Wu Di didn’t let her speak, taking her passionately, intensely once more.
“What’s gotten into you?” Shao Han asked breathlessly.
“I love you, to death, so much that I don’t know how else to show it,” Wu Di confessed earnestly.
“Hehe,” Shao Han cradled his head against her chest.
“Wow, this is so comfortable. Let’s just stay like this, not moving,” Wu Di said, closing his eyes.
Shao Han laughed and kissed his hair.
“Am I amazing?” Wu Di asked.
“Mhm.”
“Say it, am I?”
“Here we go again, stop it.”
“Tell me, I want to hear it.”
“Ha ha, amazing, so amazing,” Shao Han said shyly.
Wu Di smiled contentedly and hugged Shao Han tightly around the waist. The two of them indulged in the tender moment, momentarily setting aside everything else as they grew tired from the exertion and drifted off to sleep unknowingly.
It was nearly noon when Shao Han awoke heavily. Suddenly she thought, today… isn’t it the 28th day? Why don’t I feel anything? Usually, she felt some discomfort in her stomach before her period, but this time there was none.
She suddenly sat up, slipped into her pajamas, and headed to the restroom. Wu Di was awakened by Shao Han’s sudden movements. Shao Han then rushed out and into the study alone, leaving Wu Di puzzled as he watched her.
“Wu Di, Wu Di,” Shao Han called out as she ran into the bedroom with the desk calendar in her hands.
“What’s up?”
“Today’s date, is it the 5th?” Shao Han asked anxiously.
“I think so.” Wu Di reached for his phone on the nightstand to check the date. “Yes, it is,” he confirmed confidently.
“Hmm.” Shao Han looked at the calendar, where the 5th had a small mark indicating the 28th day.
“What is it?” Wu Di guessed what Shao Han was looking at.
“Today is the 28th day,” Shao Han said, looking at Wu Di.
“Hmm,” Wu Di responded, looking back at her.
“My period hasn’t come,” Shao Han continued.
“Really?”
“Hmm.”
There was a silence; neither of them cheered, just a mutual quiet.
“I’m so nervous,” Shao Han said.
“Heh,” Wu Di hugged her, “don’t be afraid.”
“Could it be?”
“Let’s wait and see tomorrow.”
“Okay, yes.”
“Heh, can you try not to worry so much?”
“Oh.”
But Shao Han was still nervous, it would be strange if she weren’t.
“Should I go buy a test?” Shao Han seemed to be talking to herself, “No, it’s too early, it won’t show up, it needs to be about thirty-something days.”
“Hey, are you talking to yourself?”
“Oh, I’m just nervous.”
“Alright, let’s be happy for a few days and just wait and see, okay? It was supposed to be a happy occasion, but you look like you’re facing a huge challenge.”
“Oh.” Shao Han responded verbally, but her mind was still racing. Wu Di was at a loss with her.
“Let’s go eat something. What if my son is really in your belly? Don’t starve him. Wow, I wonder if he saw his father this morning.”
Shao Han gave him a glance.
Actually, Wu Di was very nervous too, but it seemed like deep down he had a premonition that the child was coming.
