For Your Happiness - Chapter 32 - Pickup Artist
emphasizing Wu Di’s importance.
“Hehe, yes, Wu Di is a very outstanding man,” Wang Chufan commented while observing Shao Han’s expression.
Shao Han smiled subtly, “Yes, he truly is outstanding.”
“And handsome and charming, quite popular among the ladies.”
“Mhm.” Shao Han nodded slightly.
“It seems Mrs. Wu must possess a special charm to attract such an outstanding man.”
“No, no, you flatter me too much,” Shao Han said, somewhat embarrassed.
“But it’s quite normal; Mrs. Wu is indeed very attractive. If I were in his place, I would be captivated by you too,” Wang Chufan expressed somewhat more clearly.
“Ah?” Shao Han was startled and quickly turned her head.
“Oh, Mrs. Wu, please don’t mind me; I was just offering a polite compliment,” Wang Chufan sensed that Shao Han was not the vain type and that such words might make her feel frivolous, so he quickly changed the subject.
“Hehe, thank you for your compliment,” Shao Han responded graciously with a smile. Her large, expressive eyes seemed to speak, captivating Wang Chufan. He mulled over this woman, a dignified young married woman, absolutely fitting his standards. A desire to conquer stirred within him.
He shrugged his shoulders, suddenly catching a whiff of a faint fragrance from her, perhaps it was the smile on her lips, or maybe the way she glanced at him while bringing her glass to her lips. This woman momentarily stole his soul, an enjoyable sensation for Wang Chufan, who found such feelings rare at his age. Was it really a challenge? Wang Chufan asked himself. How difficult could it be to win over this woman?
As Wang Chufan sipped his drink, he pondered over the conversation. From a distance, Xu Zhuo observed Wang Chufan speaking with Shao Han. Recognizing the type of man Wang was, Xu Zhuo could tell what was on his mind. Knowing the importance of protecting a friend’s wife, especially since he had a favorable impression of Shao Han and understood her character, Xu Zhuo quickly ended his casual conversation and approached Shao Han, knowing she was no match for the Old Fox1.
“Mr. Wang,” greeted Xu Zhuo warmly, causing Wang Chufan to frown slightly. It was not the best timing, and he felt somewhat annoyed by Xu Zhuo’s interruption.
“Oh, haha, are you enjoying chatting with everyone?” Wang Chufan attempted to maintain his elegance in front of Shao Han.
“It’s alright, just sharing some experiences with everyone,” Xu Zhuo replied, pretending to be at ease.
Shao Han remained silent, simply listening to their conversation. Wang Chufan occasionally glanced at Shao Han, prompting Xu Zhuo to intervene. Turning to Shao Han, he said, “Maybe I should take you home now; Wu Di must be worried about you.”
“Oh, sure,” Shao Han replied, eager to return.
“Haha, Mr. Wang, you might not be aware, but Mr. Wu adores his wife so much, he almost forgets about us,” Xu Zhuo exaggerated.
Shao Han blushed and whispered, “Really?”
“Of course! He’s always showing off his love for you in front of us. Makes me so jealous, I think I should find a woman and get married right away.”
“Alright, enough, you’ve made your point. I won’t show off in front of you anymore, okay?” Shao Han said with a shy smile.
“Oh? It seems you and your husband are very loving,” Wang Chufan noted, sensing that Xu Zhuo was deliberately mentioning these things in his presence. As men who were accustomed to playing the field, they both knew what the other was thinking.
“Yes, indeed, Mr. Wang, you haven’t seen how affectionate they are together. Don’t you think but Mr. Wu and Shao Han make a perfect match? A talented man and a beautiful woman, plus but Mr. Wu is also an incredibly charismatic man,” Xu Zhuo hinted, reminding Wang Chufan of Wu Di’s qualities.
Wang Chufan’s expression darkened as he let out a cold laugh.
Xu Zhuo felt the conversation couldn’t go on any longer, quickly steering the topic away, “Mr. Wang, I hope you enjoy yourself. I’ll take Mrs. Wu home now, as Wu Di is injured and it’s inconvenient for him to be alone.”
“Oh, alright, please go ahead,” Wang Chufan said expressionlessly.
“Mr. Wang, we’ll be leaving now. Thank you for your concern about our hotel,” Shao Han said with a polite smile, extending her hand to shake Wang Chufan’s. He reached out and firmly gripped her hand. As Shao Han gently attempted to withdraw her hand, Wang Chufan tightened his grip, causing her smile to stiffen momentarily. His deliberate action was a hint to her, and Shao Han pulled her hand away and turned to leave without looking back.
“Old Fox,” Xu Zhuo muttered under his breath as they walked away.
“Hehe,” Shao Han, slightly annoyed by Wang Chufan’s insinuation, chuckled.
“He’s got designs on you.”
“Really?” Shao Han was skeptical, though she didn’t admit it aloud.
“Could his intentions escape my eyes?” Xu Zhuo boasted, his demeanor nonchalant.
“Hehe, luckily, we won’t have to see him again.”
Xu Zhuo got into the car, buckled his seatbelt, and turned to look at Shao Han.
“What are you looking at?” Shao Han asked, puzzled by his gaze.
“No wonder Wu Di is worried about you. You do have some unique qualities,” Xu Zhuo remarked as he started the car, unable to specify what made her different-it was just a special feeling.
Wang Chufan watched as Xu Zhuo drove away with Shao Han, her image ingrained in his mind. Yu Chen walked over.
“How is it?” he asked with a playful smile.
“A tough woman.”
“And the difficulty?”
“Hard to conquer. Hahaha,” Wang Chufan laughed, and Yu Chen joined in.
“Give up?”
“Me? Would I give up that easily?” Wang Chufan mused to himself. For him, conquering women seemed more like a game, and the challenge made it interesting. If it were just for a one-night stand, he could easily find a dozen women anywhere. But some women are worth a little talk of love and romance.
“People are newlyweds, in the thick of romance,” Yu Chen reminded him.
“Let’s make it exciting then.”
“Are you serious?”
“Yes, it’s interesting.” Wang Chufan had been thinking about Shao Han’s expression.
“I think you want to prove yourself. Wu Di is a strong opponent. If you can beat him, you’ll have no rivals in love.”
“Heh.” Wang Chufan laughed but did not reply, as he was planning how to approach Shao Han.
Xu Zhuo parked the car downstairs at Wu Di’s building. “Here we are. I won’t go up to see Wu-Ge; please send him my regards.”
“Sure, thanks for today.” Shao Han politely thanked Xu Zhuo.
“No worries.” Xu Zhuo grinned.
“Bye.” Shao Han turned and ran to her own home.
Having missed Wu Di for so long, Shao Han ran up the stairs. Although there was an elevator, she preferred to treat climbing the stairs as a form of exercise. She ran breathlessly to her front door, kicked off her shoes, and dashed into the bedroom.
Wu Di was looking at his laptop when he saw Shao Han gasping for air.
“Is someone chasing you?”
“No.”
“Then why are you running like that?”
“I missed you.” Shao Han threw herself into Wu Di’s arms, hugging him and pressing her face against his.
“Heh, you were only gone for a little while.” Wu Di held her, lovingly stroking her hair.
Shao Han released Wu Di, looked into his eyes, smiled slightly, and leaned in to kiss him deeply. Wu Di, holding his beloved wife, responded passionately to Shao Han’s kiss, his large hands caressing her body. The deep kiss made Shao Han moan involuntarily.
Hearing this, Wu Di immediately felt a physical response. They hadn’t been intimate since his injury, and such a kiss was too much to bear.
“No, stop.” Wu Di immediately paused.
“I’m sorry.” Shao Han’s body was also calling for Wu Di, but she knew it wasn’t possible now.
“I’ll go take a shower, heh.” Shao Han quickly escaped to the bathroom to calm herself down.
