Entangled with the Future Tycoon - Chapter 203 - Do You Have Any Last Words for Me?
Ji Rou and Song Wanwan were whispering to each other about which dishes they liked and which ones they didn’t.
In the Rallying Call group chat:
Bai Yuxuan: “Have you found the place yet?”
Lin Feng: “Yes, I found it.”
Bai Yuxuan: “Take a picture.”
Lin Feng: “Forgot to. I’ll take one after we purchase the gifts.”
Bai Yuxuan: “Remember, it’s got to be a flower paradise, with petals floating everywhere…”
Gu Yuan: “Any specific flowers?”
Bai Yuxuan: “Try to keep it in the pink tones, you know, girly vibes.”
Gu Yuan: “But the florist mainly has red roses today. There aren’t many pink flowers, so a flower paradise might not work. Should we switch to red roses instead?”
Bai Yuxuan: “Then let’s go with red tones. Swap out the pink candles for red ones. Oh, and maybe add some red drapes for embellishment.”
Xu Wei glanced at Bai Yuxuan typing rapidly on her phone and commented, “What, are you decorating a bridal chamber now? Red roses, red drapes, red candles-how about purple silk ribbons instead?”
Bai Yuxuan eagerly nodded at Xu Wei’s words. “Purple silk ribbons, purple silk ribbons-listen to the main director!”
Xu Wei: “And you’re the producer! Have you gotten the gifts ready? Don’t forget to prepare one for Ji Rou too. This has to be done by you guys personally-absolutely no leaks!”
Gu Yuan: “Got it. As for the candlelit dinner, are we doing Western, Japanese, French, or Korean cuisine?”
Bai Yuxuan: “Western.”
Xu Wei: “But the music is Chinese classical. Wouldn’t that be too mismatched?”
Bai Yuxuan: “Then switch to piano pieces-or violin works will do, too.”
Lin Feng: “Understood!”
Meanwhile, Ji Rou, feeling half full, slowly strolled to the restroom to wash her face. Afterward, she came back out, grabbed her phone, and moved toward the couch. Xu Wei bumped Bai Yuxuan’s shoulder, signaling her to share the “big secret” with Ji Rou.
Bai Yuxuan shot a glance at the couch, then opened Ji Rou’s profile and sent her a message:
“Today is Song Wanwan’s birthday. We’ve got a huge surprise planned for tonight. You need to stay low-key for now; I’ll add you to the group later. Just make sure Song Wanwan doesn’t catch on.”
Ji Rou opened the newly received message. “Ah…” She immediately stopped herself, glancing toward the bed where two warning stares were aimed at her, along with Song Wanwan’s puzzled expression.
“My baby kicked me! I got a little excited, couldn’t help it,” Ji Rou said, blinking at Song Wanwan apologetically. When Song Wanwan dove back into enjoying her food, Ji Rou exhaled in relief, patting her chest.
The next moment, Bai Yuxuan added Ji Rou to the Rallying Call chat.
Ji Rou: “How could you keep something this big from me until now? I haven’t even prepared a birthday gift yet!”
Xu Wei: “We’ve already prepared everything for you. Keep a low profile-you almost gave us a heart attack earlier.”
Ji Rou: “Good thing I’m quick-witted.”
Bai Yuxuan: “Intelligence is such a wonderful thing. I told you to bring it with you, and you still managed to lose it!”
Ji Rou: “Uh… Going out with you all, do I really need to bring my intelligence? How heavy is that?”
Xu Wei: “Shhh, shhh. Ji Rou, Ji Rou, attention, Song Wanwan is heading your way.”
Ji Rou quickly put away her phone and glanced at Song Wanwan, who was now sitting cross-legged beside her. With a disdainful expression, she said, “Song Wanwan, not only are you not cleaning the table after eating, but you didn’t even clean your face. You look like a heartbroken wreck.”
Song Wanwan reached up to touch her face, which was slightly sticky from an unwashed face mask earlier. She stuck out her tongue sheepishly and said, “Okay, I’ll go wash my face.”
Ji Rou nodded. “And don’t forget-you were the last one to finish eating. Make sure to clean the table too.”
Song Wanwan froze for a moment before glancing at Ji Rou. After noticing Ji Rou’s very pregnant belly, she decided not to argue and quietly went to clean the table and wash her face.
Bai Yuxuan: “Ji Rou, you’re such a drama queen. But… shouldn’t we mess with Wanwan a little today? Let her feel the radiant glory of life’s triumphs through adversity.”
Xu Wei: “You’re suggesting… verbal or physical abuse?”
Ji Rou: “And maybe a group beatdown for good measure?”
Bai Yuxuan: “That’d be too obvious. We’ve never really been hard on her before. Suddenly acting like that would backfire.”
Xu Wei: “I’m not a fan of that kind of storyline either. It usually ends with the pranksters getting burned and accidentally burning down the neighbor’s house too.”
Ji Rou: “Based on what you’re saying, should I go sign up for a public shaming in a pig basket for what I just did?”
Xu Wei: “You’re already the resident expert on criticizing Wanwan. Not doing it would be out of character for you!”
Bai Yuxuan: “You’re the star of the show today. We’ll serve you tea and snacks, and wherever the queen points, we’ll strike.”
Ji Rou: “Then how about this: later we’ll make her clean the room, boil some water, and then send her out to buy all sorts of snacks for us?”
Bai Yuxuan: “Isn’t that a bit too cruel?”
Xu Wei: “My favorite kind of birthday is… one filled with little surprises, so… are you really going to… do that?”
Bai Yuxuan: “Okay, then tell us-what’s your idea of ‘a little surprise’?”
Xu Wei: “Today, Wanwan only has one job-answering the door. Starting at 2 p.m., I scheduled takeout deliveries for all kinds of specialty snacks. One delivery every fifteen minutes, and every dish has only one serving. It won’t even ruin our appetite for the candlelit dinner later. Now praise me!”
Bai Yuxuan: “You’re sneaking behind my back to play your soft, romantic tricks on her again!”
Xu Wei: “Ahem… Well, maybe if you didn’t take forever picking out fruit like it’s some kind of sacred elixir…”
Bai Yuxuan: “Alright, I have to admit-this idea of yours counts as quite the step-by-step surprise for someone like Song Wanwan, the foodie. Top-notch creativity. Well done!”
Ji Rou: “Applause! Sprinkle some flower petals!”
Gu Yuan: “Honey, my birthday’s coming up soon, too. I don’t have high standards-a surprise every three steps would be enough!”
Xu Wei: “How about we skip straight to jump-scares?”
Gu Yuan: “Uh… Honey, how about roses? Should I save a bouquet for you?”
Xu Wei: “I want eleven roses. Don’t forget to get a vase that’ll keep them fresh for a few days!”
Bai Yuxuan: “Alright, enough already! You two are the ones who should be dunked in a pig basket.”
Lin Feng: “Why don’t we set aside eleven roses for her?”
Bai Yuxuan: “Sounds good! We don’t even need to buy a vase-we already have one at home.”
Xu Wei: “Alright then, let’s go. Group purchase-pig basket dunking!”
Bai Yuxuan: “Actually, let’s just send Ji Rou in on her own.”
Ji Rou: “You’ve gone too far! If it weren’t for my husband’s questionable loyalty to Rallying Call, I’d drag him in here to shut you all up. Sigh… I can’t believe my top-tier acting skills didn’t even get a chance to shine!”
Bai Yuxuan: “Heads up, Wanwan’s climbing into bed to digest now.”
Xu Wei turned toward Song Wanwan and asked, “Wanwan, are you full?”
“Uh… I think so?” Song Wanwan was caught off guard by the sudden show of concern, looking a bit stunned.
“Oh, that’s good,” Xu Wei said thoughtfully. “I just read a news story earlier-it said people in some places are literally starving to death. Sigh… It’s moments like this that make you want to treasure those around you. I’d hate to think that one of you might’ve starved to death in a past life, only to repeat the same fate in this one.”
As she spoke, Xu Wei climbed down from the bed, shaking her head and sighing theatrically as she walked away.
Song Wanwan, still frozen in place, abandoned her attempt to crawl onto the bed. Her movements stiffened as she wondered: why had Xu Wei said “one of you” while staring solely at her? Did her eating earlier really make her look like she’d come back as a starving ghost?
Bai Yuxuan glanced at Xu Wei’s departing figure with a disdainful expression and then turned to Song Wanwan. “Don’t mind her, Wanwan. Pregnant women are all like that-melancholic and overly sentimental, making everyone around them feel like they’re listening to farewell messages.”
Song Wanwan’s mouth opened slightly in surprise before she pursed her lips tightly. “So… do you have any farewell messages you want to leave for me?”
