Dying in the Male Lead's Arms Every Time - Chapter 10
Shanjin was by the bed, and Ning Meng pulled Shi Qi to the bathroom.
The bathroom door was open, sealed off by police tape, and the bloodstains had not been cleaned, presenting a shocking sight.
The body had been removed, or it would have been even more terrifying.
It was a small place, and even if Huang Li had accidentally slipped while taking a shower and hit the wire, it wouldn’t have resulted in such injuries.
Clearly, something had caused those wounds with what was called a wire, but the police couldn’t find that something.
Ning Meng squinted her eyes.
The yin-yang eyes the system equipped her with could only see the blackness that appeared in the bathroom, denser than what was outside just now.
She guessed that the pen fairy had acted here, hence the more noticeable traces.
After looking for a while, she stepped out of the bathroom.
Shanjin was on the balcony. The black aura behind him seemed to have eyes, not clinging to him.
On the other hand, Director Wang got the opposite result-the black aura rushed towards him eagerly, clumping up.
The system said, “Of course, your son is no ordinary person. You think he’s been the boss for so many years for nothing. He’s got more than one or two life-protecting charms on him. As for Director Wang, he’s a living person, so of course, the evil yin energy likes him.”
Dealing with feng shui, breaking spells is common, but luck is predestined. Maybe one day, it could turn on them, and not planning for oneself would be foolish.
Ning Meng was shocked.
She looked at herself and then at Shi Qi, suddenly realizing that no black aura had approached her either.
“So, I’m pretty impressive too.”
“…You’re just a soul now, basically a ghost. They don’t need you,” the system’s voice faded, quietly mocking.
Ning Meng: “…”
She wasn’t satisfied and asked, “What about Shi Qi then? He’s fine too.”
After a long time, the system finally spoke, “I’m not omnipotent…”
After saying that, it fell silent, playing dead.
Always playing dead at crucial moments, Ning Meng had got to know it well and didn’t ask further.
While she was talking to the system, Shanjin had already left the dormitory.
It wasn’t clear what he had done, but the black aura in the room gradually dispersed outwards, invisible to others.
Although Shanjin could only sense yin energy, he still had ways to deal with it.
Now that the pen fairy wasn’t here, the yin energy was easy to handle.
The chill in the room also dispersed, and the summer heat could finally be felt.
Ning Meng pinched Shi Qi’s soft, pale hand, remarking, “It was cooler just like that before. Ghosts are truly more comfortable than air conditioning.”
Shi Qi let her pinch.
He felt that this kind old madam had a habit of pinching him, from his face to his hands.
He didn’t know why she liked pinching him so much.
Director Wang was still talking, “Now this building can only be sealed. Luckily, it only housed the graduating seniors, who had mostly moved out.”
Originally, a dozen or so dorms hadn’t gone home yet. Once this incident happened, they all left, and those who hadn’t gone home rented places outside the school.
The sins of the students had to be borne by their school.
If this incident affected the summer college entrance exam students’ registration at their school, it would definitely have a series of follow-up impacts, perhaps even affecting the school’s ranking.
Shanjin asked, “Mom, what did you come to see?”
Ning Meng was still squinting at the dorm when she heard him and straightened up immediately, “Just curious. Showing my grandson around.”
Director Wang couldn’t help but smirk.
He had thought this Old Madam Shi was capable, especially since there were so many secrets in the Shi Family that one couldn’t marry into without being extraordinary.
Turns out, she didn’t know anything after all.
As they left the dormitory, they walked along the corridor.
The dormitory corridor was quite cool, even damp underfoot, with an old, musty smell.
Once outside the dormitory building, the sunlight was scorching, as if stepping out from an air-conditioned room, unbearably stuffy.
Since the medical room was just behind, they turned there first.
The medical room looked very normal compared to the dormitory, except for the marks on the bed.
Upon entering, Director Wang’s face twisted.
The deaths in the dormitory and classroom were somewhat normal, but the one who died in front of his roommate in the medical room, no one would believe it was normal.
Yet in today’s society, it had to be said it was normal.
Su Jianhua was sweating coldly all along.
Having heard about these scenes described by his daughter, and now seeing these crime scenes, he felt extremely terrified, daring only to stand outside the door, for fear of attracting something.
Ning Meng followed Shanjin into the medical room, taking a longer look at the bed.
As she turned around after examining it, she noticed something odd: there seemed to be some fingerprints at the bed’s headrail, as if someone had gripped it with great force before leaving them.
She looked at her eldest son; Shanjin seemed not to notice anything wrong, nor did he see the fingerprints.
The system clarified for her, “Your son’s eyesight isn’t good.”
Ning Meng inwardly criticized, but her own eyes as a grandmother seemed quite sharp.
It appeared the same as the dormitory; no clues, and the only fingerprint was invisible to others.
She touched it, but there was nothing special.
When they returned to the door, she asked again the same question as yesterday, “Has anyone died in this school before? In recent years.”
Director Wang was still complaining about this incident with Shanjin when he was caught off guard by the question, his expression stiffening.
He said, “Old madam, our school is a good school, how could anyone have died here?”
What does death have to do with whether a school is good or bad? Ning Meng couldn’t see his expression clearly, but was skeptical about his answer.
She bent down to ask Shi Qi, “What could you see in that dormitory?”
Again with such a question.
Shi Qi felt a sinking feeling in his heart, but here he could only see a normal dormitory; nothing else was visible.
He opened his mouth but eventually shook his head.
Ning Meng sighed.
It was a very ordinary dormitory; nothing seemed amiss, and now she was in an old body, obviously not as clear-sighted as before.
Shanjin, however, grew suspicious of his mother’s repeated questioning, “Has the school really not had any deaths?”
His tone, bearing the authority of someone in a high position, was not very pleasant.
Director Wang wiped his forehead.
His expression became more strained but he still said, “No, not at all. If there had been, I definitely would have known.”
Ning Meng, following behind, felt something was off.
Was Director Wang hiding something?
Before she could speak, her eldest son also sensed something was amiss.
Shanjin’s expression turned cold as he simply called out, “Director Wang.”
Director Wang almost shivered, sweating coldly even in the summer heat, his motion of wiping his forehead growing more frequent.
Another person, recently arrived, saw his expression and asked, “What’s wrong, Director Wang?”
Deputy Director Liu Ji had just been transferred and was completely unaware of what had happened aside from the incident.
Shanjin sternly said, “You know the consequences yourself.”
Director Wang grimaced, finally biting the bullet to speak, “Actually, I don’t really know… I’ve only been here for ten years, but I heard that something like this happened in the school before.”
Such matters were always taboo in schools, sealed off except to a few insiders. Others simply did not know.
Especially not someone who had only been at the school for ten years like him.
Deputy Director Liu Ji was nearly scared to death, “Such things happened in the school before, and there was no news at all?”
If he had known, he wouldn’t have come; too ominous, the school definitely had issues.
Ning Meng heard their back-and-forth and scoffed, “Just now you said it was nothing.”
Director Wang stiffened, feeling even more that this old lady was meddling too much.
So old and still wandering around, it would be better to stay at home.
Shanjin, however, understood this kind of official talk and directly asked, “What happened before?”
The Shi Family didn’t know everything, especially since the school had intended to hide it; probably no one had been found to investigate.
The Shi Family always dealt only with issues that came to them.
Director Wang now really knew, he said, “I really don’t know, I was checking the school’s past records when I first came, and then I found that some year’s records were missing. When I asked the president, he hinted at it.”
The president didn’t explain clearly, telling him not to meddle.
He intuitively felt there was something hidden and, following the principle that curiosity killed the cat, he pushed it to the back of his mind.
Director Wang added, “The president has recently gone to exchange with other schools, and he probably won’t be back for another ten days or so.”
Ning Meng was amazed to hear that something like this had happened and he still had the mood for exchange; wasn’t it because something had happened before and now it seemed not so serious?
Shi Qi was listening on the side, somewhat understanding.
Shanjin’s expression was grim, glancing at his mother, this time indeed owing to his mother.
Ning Meng didn’t know their thoughts, still thinking about how to unlock Shi Qi’s yin-yang eyes so she could directly see what kind of ghost the pen fairy was.
Suddenly, Shi Qi quietly tugged at Ning Meng’s clothes.
Ning Meng bent down to ask, “What’s wrong?”
Shi Qi froze, his green eyes reflecting the image of an old grandmother.
He remembered what he had just seen, why grandma’s body suddenly became blurry… and now it had returned to normal.
…
I have a grandmother.
She might have special abilities.
