Ever since that day, after Lin Yiyi had left, she had missed Chen Tianqi a lot. It was time for her to come back, so she did.

The next day, it was bright and sunny. Lin Yiyi didn’t wait until evening; she went during the day because things were about to escalate. Chen Hui and the others were preparing to retaliate, and Chen Tianyou and Lin Lei had gone to gather evidence against the other company.

On this very day, Li Shaofei obtained that document and teamed up with He Tao, working together with Xu Xiaobo to search for more evidence. This time, they were looking for proof that Xu’s Company and the Zeng Family were complicit in harming Chen Tianqi’s mother, Liu Suqin, with the aim of taking down both companies! Xu Meng had informed Li Shaofei the night before about Chen Tianqi’s incident and He Tao, they were extremely angry.

With red eyes, Lin Yiyi went to Zhang Waner’s house. Upon arriving, she saw Zhang Wan’er tidying up the table while Chen Tianqi played alone in the yard.

“Yiyi? You’re here?” Zhang Wan’er said as she put down the bowl and walked over.

“Yes, Wan’er. Has Tianqi always been like this?”

Lin Yiyi was aware of Chen Tianqi’s situation but still wanted to ask again. She truly didn’t want to believe her brother Tianqi had turned out this way, nor did she want to accept it.

“Yes,” Zhang Wan’er sighed and replied. “That night, when I saved him from by the river, he woke up like this. We had no choice but to take it one step at a time, but it’s been a while now, and he still hasn’t improved.”

Lin Yiyi also learned about Zhang Wan’er’s situation from Chen Tianyou. She didn’t blame her and felt sympathy for her. They both hoped that Chen Tianqi could wake up soon.

Just then, Chen Tianqi stood up from the ground, grinning widely, walked over to Zhang Wan’er, looked at Lin Yiyi, and asked, “Sister, who is this beautiful big sister?”

Lin Yiyi was momentarily stunned, while Zhang Wan’er didn’t know how to respond.

“Tianqi, I came to play with you. Let’s go out and I’ll buy you some candy,” Lin Yiyi restrained her urge to cry and managed a smile.

“Okay, big sister, let’s go! This big sister said she would buy me candy!” Chen Tianqi had grown dependent on Zhang Wan’er over the past few days and understood that he should listen to her, so he looked at Zhang Wan’er and asked.

“Alright, let me tidy up a bit. Just a moment,” Zhang Wan’er said, and immediately went inside to change clothes. A few minutes later, she came out wearing what Chen Tianqi had bought for her, her hair tied up, looking clean, neat, and pure. On the other hand, Lin Yiyi was half a head shorter than Zhang Wan’er, exuding a more cute and mischievous vibe.

“Okay, let’s go then.” With that, the two of them took Chen Tianqi’s hands, one on each side, and walked out together…

At noon, Lin Lei and Chen Tianyou sat in Chen Hui’s living room, discussing the situation.

“Tianyou, this matter is difficult to handle. We know everything now, but that important document is on Zeng Liang’s computer, and there’s a password. Once we have the password, we can go to another location to retrieve the document, but we don’t know the password,” Lin Lei said, taking a sip from his cup.

“Yeah, that’s the missing piece. We know everything else; we just need to obtain that evidence. I think Chen Tianqi was harmed by Zeng Liang! If Zeng Liang could arrange for Wan’er to come in, he must be working with Xu’s Company, so what else is Xu’s Company doing?” Chen Tianyou rubbed his temples.

“Sigh… What should we do?”

“I remember that Tianqi has a friend who is a computer whiz. We could ask him for help.” Without wasting time, Chen Tianyou immediately made the call.

Chen Tianyou explained everything to He Tao, hoping he could assist. After He Tao learned about the situation, he shared what was happening on his end. After listening, Chen Tianyou and Lin Lei were at a loss for words. Overall, He Tao and Li Shaofei had teamed up with Lin Lei and Chen Tianyou.

After hanging up, Chen Tianyou and Lin Lei exchanged silent looks. What they didn’t know was that Chen Tianqi was also secretly working on this matter. Although he hadn’t achieved much, he was trying his best. It was unfortunate for them that what Xu Xiaobo said was true, and they didn’t believe him at the time. However, their goals were the same, and Xu Xiaobo didn’t blame anyone; he only asked Chen Tianyou not to mention this to Xu Feng, which Chen Tianyou agreed to.

Next, it was time for action!…

Lin Yiyi and Zhang Wan’er held Chen Tianqi’s hands as they walked along the roadside.

All three of them had tanghulu (candied hawthorn) in their hands, and Chen Tianqi, especially, had some crumbs on his lips and was carrying a big bag along with other small items, looking very happy.

The two girls didn’t exchange many words; all that remained was a hint of sadness behind their smiles.

With that, Chen Tianqi wriggled free from their hands and ran ahead.

Lin Yiyi and Zhang Wan’er smiled as they watched Chen Tianqi’s figure dart away.

Suddenly, Lin Yiyi heard the sound of a car horn. Her expression changed immediately.

Lin Yiyi recalled the dream she had the night she slept beside Chen Tianqi. Wasn’t it exactly the same as the scene unfolding before her now? In the dream, Chen Tianqi was about to be hit by a car, and then…

The scene from her dream replayed in her mind, and Lin Yiyi rushed forward, wanting to pull Chen Tianqi away just as Zhang Wan’er was still processing what was happening.

But it was too late!

The car was about to collide with Chen Tianqi, and Lin Yiyi didn’t know where her strength came from; she bolted forward and shoved Chen Tianqi aside.

In that moment, her only thought was of him. If she had to die, so be it! As long as he was safe!

In that split second, memories flooded her mind: the times they played in the mud as kids, the warmth of sharing a bed that night, all those sweet moments they’d shared…

In that instant, everything shattered!

Chen Tianqi was pushed away and, unable to stop himself, crashed against the wall. He instinctively hugged his head, pain etched across his face. A few seconds later, he collapsed onto the ground.

Lin Yiyi was thrown to the side, and Zhang Wan’er quickly reacted. She ran toward Lin Yiyi, knowing that right now, Lin Yiyi was the most important. If Chen Tianqi were awake, he would want her to save Lin Yiyi first.
