Dream Dance Gracefully - Chapter 69 - Another Collaboration
Xu Xiaobo arranged to meet Li Shaofei, and today they finally met in person.
Upon arriving at the location, Li Shaofei saw that Xu Xiaobo had already been waiting.
Once inside, Li Shaofei directly asked, as they had no real relationship to begin with, and he didn’t quite understand why Xu Xiaobo had been kicked out.
“Xu Xiaobo, what do you want from me? Don’t tell me you have no other intentions, but I don’t think there’s anything about me that would warrant a conversation with you.”
At this point, nothing else mattered; the only connection they had was with Xu Meng, right?
Xu Xiaobo didn’t appear surprised; perhaps he had anticipated this.
“It’s nothing. I just wanted to take you out for a meal, have some tea, and chat about life and ideals.”
Xu Xiaobo said this with a smile, unfazed by Li Shaofei’s words. However, the more relaxed he seemed, the more Li Shaofei felt something was off.
“Let’s cut to the chase. Don’t play mind games with me; I’m not falling for that.”
Seeing that Li Shaofei had figured out his intentions, Xu Xiaobo simply smiled back.
“Alright, let’s get started then. I know that you and Chen Tianqi have teamed up now-don’t ask me how I know; I just do.”
After this, Xu Xiaobo gave Li Shaofei a look that screamed he knew everything. Hearing such words, Li Shaofei’s heart sank, and he thought to himself that this wasn’t good. At that moment, Xu Xiaobo spoke again.
“Don’t worry; we also know about you. Every move you make, and that person named Zhang Wan’er-we know all about it.”
At this point, Li Shaofei’s expression turned serious. How did Xu Xiaobo know all of this? Was it Xu Meng? No way. Chen Tianqi? Even less likely! Wan’er? That was even less possible! Were they watching me? Or was someone keeping an eye on Xu Meng?
“You don’t need to rush to deny it. Just listen to what I have to say.”
Li Shaofei suppressed the impulse rising within him.
“Go on!”
“I’m here to collaborate with you,” Xu Xiaobo finally revealed his intentions.
The atmosphere was still quite tense, and to relieve the pressure in his heart, Li Shaofei picked up a cup of tea from the table. Just as he took a sip, he heard Xu Xiaobo’s words and immediately spat the water out.
“Pfft…”
“Are you alright? Why would you want to collaborate with us?”
Xu Xiaobo was somewhat confused himself. Why would he react so dramatically? It shouldn’t be such a surprise, right?
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m genuinely here to collaborate with you.”
Li Shaofei’s mind momentarily short-circuited; he didn’t know how to respond at first. After thinking for a moment, he realized that Xu Xiaobo had found out so much about his side. But what was Xu Xiaobo really after? It surely couldn’t just be a simple collaboration, could it? After considering all of this, Li Shaofei couldn’t just directly tell Xu Xiaobo, “Sure, let’s collaborate.” If they were to work together, there had to be transparency, meaning they needed to be honest about their intentions. Otherwise, collaboration would be impossible! Although Chen Tianqi wasn’t there, the partnership wasn’t dissolved, which meant Li Shaofei still had to consider Chen Tianqi’s interests.
“First, tell me what your motives are,” Li Shaofei wanted to know his purpose.
“Motive? Well, I want Xu’s Company. I want to take over my uncle’s company,” Xu Xiaobo said with shining eyes, declaring this bold statement without a hint of fear about Li Shaofei potentially tipping someone off. Of course, he believed that Li Shaofei wouldn’t betray him.
“You want Xu’s Company? Are you not satisfied with your current position? It seems you’re already in control of the company,” Li Shaofei replied. He had a good understanding of company dynamics, especially since his father’s company was a major subsidiary of Xu’s Company. It was impossible for him to be unaware of Xu Xiaobo’s position.
With Xu Hao’s support and Xu Xiaobo’s commendable efforts, he had quickly risen to a high position. Xu Hao believed he was the one who had brought Xu Xiaobo on board, and Xu Feng wouldn’t let Xu Xiaobo go without assistance. As for the fact that Xu Xiaobo had been kicked out of his home, Xu Hao always thought that Xu Feng was behind the scenes strategizing for him, which made Xu Hao value Xu Xiaobo even more. As for the positions of general manager and chairman, he had never intended to hand them to Xu Xiaobo-after all, he had a son of his own, who happened to be studying abroad. Overall, his plan was to leverage Xu Xiaobo to get Xu Feng’s help for the company, ultimately aiming to treat Xu Feng like he had treated Xu Xiaobo in the past-giving him the boot…
“No, you don’t understand. It’s different. The company was built up by my dad from scratch; there’s no way he’d just hand it over to my uncle. Moreover, my uncle is the one responsible for my dad’s injury. As for my current position-ha! It’s just for appearances. In reality, I don’t have that much power. My uncle is very cunning. When it comes to confidential information, no one knows anything except for him; my dad hasn’t disclosed any details about the company either.” At this point, Xu Xiaobo felt a bit thirsty, so he took a sip of water without paying attention to the surprised Li Shaofei and continued talking.
“Ultimately, my uncle is just trying to use me. The only reason he values me so much right now is because of my dad. He wants me to have my dad’s backing in strategizing for the company. He’s really underestimated me. Without my dad’s support, my uncle wouldn’t care about me nearly as much. If my dad were supporting me, I’d already be the manager by now.”
“Well, to put it simply, my uncle has taken everything that belongs to my dad. As his son, of course, I want to take it back-by any means necessary. At home, I have to act a bit unruly; that’s the only way I can convince my uncle to see me as a means to make the company strong and bolster himself. My dad is getting older, and since he would want to pass the company on to me, I want to reclaim what is rightfully mine-my company!”
After listening to Xu Xiaobo’s words, Li Shaofei felt a lingering sense of shock. At this point, he almost believed Xu Xiaobo. Why? Because while words can be mimicked, expressions can’t lie.
But why didn’t Xu Xiaobo seek to collaborate with Chen Tianyou or Lin Lei? What about the Yang Family? All of them were adversaries of Xu’s Company and the Zeng Family. Why would he come to cooperate with Li Shaofei instead?
“Why do you want to partner with me? Why not approach Chen Tianyou and the others?” Li Shaofei asked.
Xu Xiaobo seemed to have anticipated Li Shaofei’s question and replied, “I have privately approached Chen Tianyou, but they didn’t believe me. So, here I am, left with no choice but to come to you.”
