Don't Reconcile Too Quickly - Chapter 46
With an hour left before lunch break, Chen Jiazhi dragged a small stool to the door of the outer ward and sat in the hallway, waiting for Shen Shixu to return.
A nurse asked him why he was sitting there.
He grinned foolishly and said he was waiting for Shen Shixu to get off work.
The nurse teased him a bit and kindly reminded him to wear more clothes to avoid catching a cold, as the draft in the hallway was quite strong. Chen Jiazhi went back to his room to put on an extra coat.
As soon as Shen Shixu got off work, he emerged from the elevator and spotted the fool sitting at the door of Ward 5 from afar.
As soon as he turned the corner, their eyes met.
He must have been waiting there for a long time, as he stood up and stomped his numb legs. The fool was smiling, his eyes were smiling, and he even ran a few steps.
Shen Shixu caught him, feeling the temperature of his palms-not too cold, not too warm.
He didn’t speak, just quietly watched the fool perform.
“Hao Xi and Xu Minghe came by earlier to deliver the manuscript. I’m so happy! You bought me a whole book. I don’t even dare to unwrap the plastic wrap. A whole book! My goodness, how are you so rich?” Holding onto Shen Shixu’s arm, Chen Jiazhi babbled incoherently, “I was wrong, please forgive me. I won’t secretly look for medicine anymore, and besides, I didn’t find any…”
“Still being stubborn? If you found it, wouldn’t you take it?” Shen Shixu pulled him back to the room, bringing the chair from the doorway with him, and pretended to scold with a stern face, “How many times have I told you, and you still don’t listen? Was it comfortable being cold all morning?”
“I wanted to come down to find you, but I didn’t want to disturb your work. Then I remembered you told me not to wander around, so I waited for you to come back.” Even being scolded, Chen Jiazhi had no complaints and was practically hanging on him, rubbing his face against him like Jiabao, “Please don’t be mad anymore. I always make mistakes, but I admit them quickly, don’t I?”
Listening to this, should he be praised?
“And I wasn’t feeling well, not all morning.”
Shen Shixu immediately asked, “Where do you feel unwell?” His hands moved to check.
“No, no.” Chen Jiazhi held his hand, chattering, “You didn’t reply to my messages. I sincerely apologized, and you ignored it. I was sad, afraid you wouldn’t come back at noon. I read my apology messages over and over. If you didn’t reply, I didn’t dare to send more.”
“Being mad is one thing, but how could you ignore me like that… You could have at least scolded me a bit. How could you just not respond…”
As he spoke, his true nature began to show.
“Just forgive me for my mistakes, okay? I didn’t find anything anyway.”
“Ah!!!!”
The slap on his butt was heavier than ever before.
“What’s the use of forgiving you? If I forgive you, you’ll dare to do it again next time.” Shen Shixu hugged him fiercely, sitting down on the sofa, “If I forgive you every time, will you think you can get away with anything?” Getting angrier as he spoke, he added with a cold voice, “You’ve only been mentally stable for a few days, and you’re already acting defiant. With an attitude of ‘I was wrong, so what?’ Do you think I can’t handle you?”
So what if he was wrong? What could he do about it?
There was no way to handle it.
Even after ignoring him all morning, he couldn’t help but glance at those apologetic messages whenever he had a free moment. If he hadn’t been too busy to even drink water, he would have come up to see if the fool was truly upset.
“How about a kiss? If I kiss you, will you stop being mad?” Chen Jiazhi shamelessly leaned in, asking foolishly, “I’m going to kiss you. You can’t refuse, or I’ll throw a fit.”
Just moments ago, he was furious, and now he was about to laugh to death. Shen Shixu deliberately kept a stern face, “Who’s stopping you?”
Hearing this, Chen Jiazhi immediately grabbed his white coat collar, leaned in, and first looked around, his gaze flowing from forehead to chin, then flatteringly said, “You’re so handsome.”
Then he pressed his lips to Shen Shixu’s, smooching away.
With one arm around his back, Shen Shixu slipped his other hand under his shirt, onto his back, caressing. Dissatisfied with just a lip-to-lip touch, he deepened the kiss until Chen Jiazhi began to tremble, and only then did they pull apart, panting.
“I’m the one kissing you. How can you kiss me back…” The fool grumbled discontentedly.
Feeling a strong urge to mess with him, a very strong urge.
Forcing himself to hold back, he used his thumb to wipe the corner of the fool’s mouth, then asked, “What did you do this morning?”
“After Hao Xi and the others left, I just waited for you, just waited and waited.” Chen Jiazhi thought of Mingyang, lowering his eyes, “You ignored me, I was sad. I only ate one piece of the rice cake Mingyang brought me. He’s brought me food two days in a row, and I don’t have anything good to give him. Those snacks are tasteless, and I don’t think he’d like them. Can you buy me something else with flavor?”
Shen Shixu let out a cold laugh, “Haha.”
Seeing through his real intentions, Chen Jiazhi got off his lap. Shen Shixu thought he was going to throw a fit again, but Chen Jiazhi just wanted to lie on his lap, looking up with envy, “Mingyang is pretty nice, but I’m so jealous of him. He went to your house ten years ago, and your parents even gave him gifts.”
“You didn’t want to go when I asked you a few days ago, and now you’re showing me this pitiful face?” Shen Shixu asked, touching his face, “Isn’t it normal to give gifts? If you go during Chinese New Year, my parents would even give him a red envelope.”
“Ah…” His lips pouted, and the fool looked genuinely upset.
Shen Shixu stopped teasing him, leaned in closer, their noses almost touching, “For others, it’s just polite to give a red envelope and gifts. If you go, you’ll sleep in the same room with me. Isn’t that enough?”
Chen Jiazhi: “We’re supposed to sleep in the same room.”
“When Aunt comes back, I’ll arrange a meal with the elders, okay?”
“Do you think… they dislike me?”
“Who? My parents?”
“Yeah… When I left, and you caused such a commotion for me, they must not like me anymore.”
“The day you fainted at the airport, they came to see you and even brought you dinner, but you couldn’t eat at the time.”
“They didn’t want to disturb your rest, so they didn’t come in to see you.” Shen Shixu said, “And that night, when I was holding you on the balcony making a call, Mrs. Ye asked about your health, telling me to prioritize you. How could they dislike you?”
After hearing this, Chen Jiazhi didn’t seem to cheer up. He frowned and asked, “Why did you suddenly think of this? Did someone say something to you?”
Chen Jiazhi sat up, hugging his neck, and said with worry, “It’s just that I saw Mingyang had been to your house, and your parents gave him gifts. I got a bit jealous.”
“Why am I having these thoughts? I feel like I’m not being kind…”
“…”
“Let’s eat first. If you keep talking nonsense, you’ll get a spanking.”
Even for those few steps, Shen Shixu insisted on carrying him to the small round table, setting down chopsticks and a spoon, and patting his head, “You got the manuscript and still pout. Is there something else you haven’t told me?”
Holding the spoon, Chen Jiazhi answered softly, “No.”
“Then eat first, and don’t overthink things.” Shen Shixu reassured him, “Everyone at Lushan likes you, even Zhen-Jie. She makes you so many delicious things, remember?”
“I know.” Chen Jiazhi quietly started eating, then suddenly said, “But I’m losing hair.”
Shen Shixu hummed softly, trying to brush off the topic lightly, but soon found himself unable to resist moving over to Chen Jiazhi’s side, squeezing onto the chair, pulling Chen Jiazhi onto his lap, “It’s just a little bit, and new hair is already growing.” He gently gathered his hair with his fingers, taking out a hair tie he kept in his jacket pocket, clumsily tying a small ponytail.
“Do you know what baby hair is? Babies grow baby hair.” He chuckled, whispering in Chen Jiazhi’s ear, “Now, you’ll be by my side for a month.”
“I’m not happy.” Chen Jiazhi said slowly, “I want to shave it all off.”
Immediately, Shen Shixu turned his face with a serious expression, “You were fine a few days ago. Did a nurse say something to you, or did someone else?”
“No.” Chen Jiazhi suddenly cried, saying sadly, “Doesn’t everyone shave their heads before they lose all their hair?”
“Who told you your hair would all fall out? It’s just temporary hair loss.” Shen Shixu’s tone cooled, sensing something was off, “Now tell me, who did you see today?”
“Mingyang said some patients shave early, and Hao Xi and the others said I lost very little.” Chen Jiazhi wiped his tears, “But they were comforting me. I was just overthinking.”
Indeed, many patients shave their heads early, and some doctors even suggest it. One reason is that long hair is difficult to wash and inconvenient in the hospital, and another is that some patients can’t handle the process of continuous hair loss.
“What kind of ivory can you expect from a dog’s mouth? Listen to them or listen to me?” Seeing him like this almost broke his heart, Shen Shixu patted his back, “Your hair won’t fall out completely. Don’t listen to others or watch too many dramas.”
“I understand…”
Chen Jiazhi rested on his shoulder for a while, then continued eating, trying the steamed fish with his chopsticks, smacking his lips, “This is really good.”
“…”
After lunch, Chen Jiazhi took out the manuscript to show off, quickly becoming happy again. In short, he was like this, a whirlwind of emotions, laughing one moment and crying the next.
Before handling the manuscript, he made a point to wash his hands twice in the bathroom, carefully drying them, then took it out, saying “I love you” to Shen Shixu while unwrapping the plastic.
Seeing him smile, Shen Shixu went to the balcony to make a call.
“What did you give him this morning?”
“What do you mean?” Hao Xi was eating with Xu Minghe, and Shen Shixu didn’t bother explaining, going straight to the hair issue.
“Hair loss from chemotherapy is normal. We didn’t say anything wrong.” Hao Xi had the speaker on, and Xu Minghe shouted from the side, “Yeah! And it was just a little. We comforted Jiazhi for quite a while.”
“What did you call him?”
“Hehehe, hanging up now, Shixu.” Xu Minghe clicked and ended the call.
When Shen Shixu returned to the suite, Chen Jiazhi was engrossed in reading the manuscript.
Shen Shixu watched him for a moment, then asked, “Is Mingyang coming tomorrow?”
“I don’t know.” Chen Jiazhi was curious, looking up, “Why are you asking?”
Sighing, Shen Shixu took the manuscript from Chen Jiazhi’s hands, pulling him onto the pillow, “Stay with me for a while.” He added, “You can talk.”
“Aren’t you going to the consultation room at two? There’s only half an hour left. I won’t talk. You should sleep, and I’ll wake you.”
“I’m not sleeping, just resting my eyes for a bit.”
Not sleeping meant he could move around. Chen Jiazhi turned over and sat up, first touching Shen Shixu’s forehead, then placing his head on his lap, using his fingers to gently massage his temples, quickly explaining, “I’m not causing trouble or making mistakes. I just want to please you.”
Shen Shixu closed his eyes, “Is this how you please me?”
So, Chen Jiazhi leaned down, kissed his forehead, and shyly asked, “Is that enough?”
“One more.”
Chen Jiazhi kissed him again, happily continuing to massage, and after a few seconds, he heard Shen Shixu say, “Next week, we’ll do another check-up. If everything is stable, we’ll go out for a bit.”
“Where are you going, to eat?”
With a slight curl of his lips, Shen Shixu said, “Can’t wait for aunt to come back.”
“Why wait for aunt to return?”
He opened his eyes, somewhat understanding why Chen Jiazhi had stuck his eyelashes to his eyelids that night; indeed, looking up like that, you couldn’t see the person above you, but Chen Jiazhi wasn’t so foolish. So, turning over to lie on his side, he gazed into Chen Jiazhi’s eyes, “Let’s get married, Lucas. Let’s get married.”
Upon hearing this, the fool’s eyes suddenly widened, his lips trembling, unable to speak.
“I can’t bear it anymore, nor do I want to wait. I secretly took your passport because I wanted to do this, to trick you into registering in Taiwan. But now, having gotten the manuscript, it’s saddening to see you so upset over losing hair.”
There was still no sense of security; it was still not enough on my part.
“Getting married, would that make you happy? No more sadness from losing hair, right?”
“I-”
“You’d better agree, or else I’ll tie you up and take you.” Closing his eyes, Shen Shixu said, “Lushan is also your home, a home that only others can envy.”
“As the host during holidays, you should hand out red envelopes and gifts to visitors.”
“What does staying a few days matter? You can walk around the house freely without anyone commenting.”
“Once discharged, in the morning you can play with Hero and Jiabao in the backyard. After playing, come back for a meal, rest for a while and then do whatever you like. At night, we sleep in the same bed, celebrating any festival together, dining as a family.”
“Why so sudden…” With a sobbing tone, Chen Jiazhi asked tremulously, “I didn’t even know, you…”
“Before, I always thought I understood you well, knew how to treat you right, how to make you happy.” Shen Shixu said, “It seems I still haven’t done well enough, how can you still cry under my watch?”
“You were fine when you came back, but as soon as you mentioned losing hair, you burst into tears, definitely very sad.”
“So foolish, so sad and still waiting for me, even apologizing first.”
“Since I can’t make you happy all the time, then I should find more people to take care of you.”
Above his head, Chen Jiazhi had already started to sob quietly.
Having said that, Shen Shixu continued to speak slowly and deliberately:
“Shen Weiguo, my grandfather, you would definitely get along with him; aren’t you very good at Chinese Chess? When will you challenge him?”
“Shen Boku, my father, he seems strict but is actually very gentle, don’t be afraid of him.”
“Ye Zi, my mother, she is very gentle, and she likes you a lot.”
“As for Huaixu, he is not home all year round, but you both have a lot in common, he’ll show you all kinds of rare animals, you like these furry things, right?”
“Sending Hero and Jiabao there, Lushan has been a bit more lively lately. Once you come home, it will be even livelier.”
As he spoke, warm droplets fell on his face.
Turning over to sit up, Shen Shixu wiped Chen Jiazhi’s tears, “You have everything others have, and what you didn’t have before, you’ll have in the future. I’ll give you anything you want, so let’s get married, no need to wait for aunt anymore, I don’t want to wait another day. We’ll register in Taiwan after your check-up next week.”
“Once you’re well, move your clothes and favorite books to Lushan; there will always be a place for you at home, a room for you and me.”
“But, if you like living in Guoyue, we’ll continue living there, returning to Lushan for holidays.”
“If you prefer living in Lushan, let Zhen-Jie cook delicious food for you every day; let my parents take you around for fun.”
His eyes swollen, Chen Jiazhi couldn’t speak through his tears.
“Are you crying because it’s not romantic enough?” Shen Shixu teased him intentionally, “No ring prepared, no balloons?”
Wiping away the tears, Chen Jiazhi shook his head and then threw himself into Shen Shixu’s arms, “I’m sick…”
Understanding what he meant, “Being sick has nothing to do with whether I like you or not. You’re not incurable, you’re too lovable, who wouldn’t like you?” Shen Shixu patted his back, sighing deeply, “It would be better if you didn’t fuss.”
“What are you doing…” Chen Jiazhi sobbed, “ruining such a good atmosphere!”
“Come on, always crying, what does that look like? Your eyes are all swollen!” Shen Shixu held back, gently saying, “You dreamt I didn’t want you, didn’t give you reassurance. What are you going to do if you get silly thoughts when I’m not around?”
“I know…” Chen Jiazhi sniffled, squirming, “You haven’t even asked if I want to.”
“Do you want to?” Shen Shixu touched his face, “Stay by my side, make trouble for a lifetime.”
“I want to, super want to!” Chen Jiazhi opened his arms wide and hugged him tightly, “I want to be with you, forever and ever.”
“Alright, are you still sad about losing hair now?”
“Not sad anymore.” Chen Jiazhi’s head shook like a bobblehead, his eyes still red, but his smile was especially bright, “Even if all my hair falls out, I’m not afraid. If you dare not want me, I’ll use the law against you!”
“Don’t speak too soon, who knows who will enforce the law?” Shen Shixu cautioned, “Stay obediently in the ward this afternoon. If I come back from work and see you sulking again, I’ll mess you up.”
“I know, you go to work now. If I miss you, I’ll come to see you. Oh!” pausing for a second, Chen Jiazhi asked, “Do I need to register to see you?”
“…”
Shen Shixu casually pulled out a medical record from the drawer, tapping the attending physician’s name at the bottom of the page, deciding not to be clear, just to deceive him a bit longer to see if the fool would say something nice again.
“Depends on your identity. You don’t need to register as a patient, but you can only talk about things related to your condition.” His voice dragged out, “Other things…”
Chen Jiazhi got up, stood tall at the edge of the bed, and curiously asked, “What?”
“Think about it yourself.”
After a while, the fool didn’t catch on, Shen Shixu frowned, “Are you really foolish or pretending?”
“Hmph!” Chen Jiazhi lifted his chin proudly, “I should decide what identity to use.”
“Think for yourself.”
His gray-blue eyes spun rapidly, amusingly, and even cheekily curled his finger, Shen Shixu walked up to him, “What’s the fuss now.”
Bending slightly, Chen Jiazhi whispered in his ear, “You can’t beat me in word games, you want me to call you something, I know, and, with a flick of my finger, you come running.”
“Since you know, why not call?” Shen Shixu asked, “Shy?”
“A bit.” Chen Jiazhi hugged his neck, blushing and bashful, whispering in German, “Mein Ehemann.”
“Cheating? Speak Chinese!”
“I won’t.” Chen Jiazhi wriggled on him, Shen Shixu grabbed him and lifted him slightly, “Hurry up.”
“Can’t say, so embarrassing!”
“Pinching you!”
“Don’t, don’t, don’t, you pinched my butt blue the other night, it still hurts.”
With that, Shen Shixu was about to pull down his pants to see, “You’re lying again!”
Seeing the new clock, Chen Jiazhi shouted, “It’s already ten past two, you’re going to be late for work! Stop it!” In the midst of the fuss, he suddenly stopped struggling, humming, immediately buried his head in Shen Shixu’s shoulder, whispering, “Quick, put me down, Mingyang is here.”
Holding his buttocks, Shen Shixu turned around, his gaze first landing on Mingyang’s empty hands, searching.
His tone very cold, he asked, “What’s up?”
“I came to find… brother Jiazhi to play, brother Shixu you guys go ahead, I’m leaving.” The door opened, and the flustered Mingyang left.
Pausing for two seconds, Shen Shixu put down the embarrassed Chen Jiazhi and followed out, closing the ward door.
Seeing him come out, Mingyang stopped, somewhat anticipatory, asking: “Brother Shixu, what’s wrong.”
Either asking about marble, or… could it be asking something else?
With a secret hope, Mingyang saw Shen Shixu stop a meter away, his face expressionless, asking: “What did you tell Lucas this morning?”
“Ah, I didn’t say anything, didn’t mention the marble.” Mingyang seemed scared by his cold demeanor, “I know, brother Shixu, you want to surprise him, so I didn’t say, don’t worry.”
“What else?” The scrutinizing gaze was extremely sharp, Shen Shixu continued to ask, “What else did you say.”
“Brother Jiazhi asked me what the relationship between our two families is, just said that.”
After a while, Shen Shixu harshly said, “Don’t disturb him during his nap time, knocking is basic manners.”
“Oh, I know.” Actually, Mingyang wanted to say I did knock.
“And, don’t bring him things to eat anymore.” Dropping this sentence, Shen Shixu went straight into the ward, but came out again in less than two minutes, his expression indifferent, “Go in, he’s waiting for you.”
“Oh, okay.”
Inside the ward, when Mingyang entered, Chen Jiazhi apologized, “Sorry, we were just messing around, didn’t hear you knock.” He tidied the messy bed, gesturing, “Come sit on the sofa.”
Quickly walking to the sofa, Mingyang sat down and smiled, “I thought you’d be sad about losing hair, so I came to see you.”
Finding his favorite snacks, Chen Jiazhi gathered them all, placing them on the small coffee table in front of Mingyang, “I’m not sad at all, hehe.”
Then he also sat on the sofa, legs crossed, tearing open the snack packages to hand to Mingyang, “There’s nothing delicious here, these snacks are also very bland, but this one is the most expensive and tastiest, eat it, I haven’t properly thanked you for bringing me rice cake, eat up, eat up!”
“Tomorrow you can’t bring rice cake anymore.” Mingyang smiled.
“Why? Is Auntie sick?” Thinking about how inappropriate this question was, Chen Jiazhi quickly waved his hand, “I don’t mean that, I’m not asking you to feed me…”
Without explaining the reason, Mingyang just said, “Brother Jiazhi, I know why brother Shixu likes you.”
Chen Jiazhi curiously asked, “Why?”
“Because you’re really cute.” Mingyang said, “Anyone would like you.”
Praise is an important rule for fostering relationships, Chen Jiazhi looked at Mingyang, sincerely saying, “You’re good-looking, have a good personality, a nice name, and you’re nice to me.”
“And since your family is so close to Shen Shixu’s, we should see each other often, becoming good friends.”
“I thought we were already friends.” Mingyang looked a bit regretful, jokingly asking, “Only in the future?”
Chen Jiazhi touched his nose, “Sorry.”
“Just kidding, brother Jiazhi.”
The two looked at each other for a moment, then both laughed out.
After laughing for a while, Mingyang, munching on snacks, asked, “Brother Jiazhi, why are you so happy all of a sudden.”
“Let me tell you, but don’t tell anyone else.” Chen Jiazhi leaned in mysteriously, lowering his voice, “Shen Shixu and I are getting married.”
Mingyang paused, then asked, “Really?”
“Yes, I was very sad about losing hair, I told him when he came back, then he talked about getting married.” Chen Jiazhi’s smile nearly curved into a crescent moon, chattering, “So I’m not sad anymore, I’m really happy now!”
After a while, Mingyang murmured softly, “That’s nice.”
“Yes, he’s super mega awesomely the best, from today onwards I’ll be a bit more obedient, wait for aunt to come back and our two families can have dinner together! I can also call his parents dad and mom! I need to behave well!”
Mingyang asked, “Brother Jiazhi, why wait for aunt, shouldn’t it be your parents and brother Shixu’s parents meeting?”
“Um… don’t tell anyone this.” Chen Jiazhi said slowly, “My parents are deceased, my only relative is my aunt, so we need to wait for aunt.”
“It’s okay, don’t be sad.” Mingyang comforted him, then added, “But what if brother Shixu bullies you, who will back you up? You must be fierce, don’t always listen to him.”
“I daren’t…”
“…”
“He’s very scary when angry, he got angry this morning.” Unwittingly spilling everything, “But if I make a fuss, he won’t be angry, he dotes on me, I know.”
“Hehe, enough about me, what about you?” Chen Jiazhi blinked, asking, “Do you have someone you like?”
Mingyang paused, answering, “Yes.”
“Boy or girl?”
“Boy.”
“Does he know you like him?”
“Probably not.”
“It’s okay if he doesn’t know, you’re great, go for it boldly.” Chen Jiazhi encouraged him, “I believe he’ll definitely like you!”
“Okay.” Mingyang took out his phone, “Brother Jiazhi, let’s exchange contact information, brother Shixu just told me not to disturb your nap, I’ll message you in advance when I come to see you next time.”
Chen Jiazhi couldn’t find his phone, searching the whole room, not very big, Mingyang joining in the search.
Eventually, they used Mingyang’s phone to call, the phone ringing in the bathroom.
It turned out to be left on the shelf during handwashing, Mingyang went to get it for him, Chen Jiazhi embarrassed about such a small matter needing help, both entered the bathroom together.
The ward bathroom couldn’t compare to Guoyue, very small, everything in view at a glance.
In a corner of the shower stood two pairs of bath slippers of different sizes, next to the showerhead were two neatly stacked bath towels, on the shelf, two identical but different colored cups snug together, the wall also hung identical but different colored electric toothbrushes, as well as the same brand of razors, face washes, etc.
At the very back of the shelf lay two boxes of the largest size condoms, next to them an unopened bottle of medical-grade paraffin oil.
These were all things that shameless Shen Shixu had brought back, always threatening to make him cry, though they were never used, he had prepared everything in advance.
Chen Jiazhi, face red and ears hot, used a cup to cover, stammering, “Let’s, go out.”
Mingyang looked away and nodded, “Okay.”
The two returned to the sofa, exchanged contact information.
Mingyang looking at Chen Jiazhi’s account, asked, “Brother Jiazhi, you don’t post on Moments?”
“I don’t know what to post, feel like there’s nothing good to post.” Chen Jiazhi also opened Mingyang’s Moments, only visible for half a year, clicked on the latest post.
Saw a photo of a soufflé and café.
At that moment, Mingyang’s phone rang, holding the phone, he smiled warmly, “The caregiver is calling me, I have to go take care of grandma, I’ll come play with you tomorrow, brother Jiazhi.”
“Okay, goodbye.” Chen Jiazhi saw him out, then returned to sit on the sofa, continued looking at that strangely familiar Moments post.
-Thanks to brother Shixu for treating me to coffee so late the other day, the soufflé at this café is really delicious, too bad I ordered too much, couldn’t finish the last two.
Two accompanying pictures:
One was of two coffees opposite each other on a wooden table, one already finished.
The other was of a soufflé with a unique brand imprint, filling the entire display case.
Chen Jiazhi suddenly remembered that late night, Shen Shixu brought back two soufflés, the imprint identical to the one in the photo.
So it wasn’t specially bought… it was leftovers…
Chen Jiazhi felt a bit unhappy, Shen Shixu never used to give him leftovers, let alone leftovers someone else couldn’t finish.
But it’s okay, food shouldn’t be wasted.
Thinking again about Shen Shixu coming back saying, he went out to buy him a gift, he reassured himself.
But he didn’t want to look at Mingyang’s Moments anymore, locked his phone, stood up, looked around the empty room, stared for a while, his heart suddenly feeling very light, an unsettling feeling of not being grounded.
He felt a bit lost and walked over to the carpet, quickly, sadly squatting down.
