Doll Survival Game - Chapter 91 - Fairy Tale Forest (Part 28)
“Did it succeed so quickly?”
Upon hearing the system’s notification, Via, who was hiding on the outskirts of a valley, looked up towards the direction of the elf’s territory. “So we have a territory now! It’s a pity we can’t go there to experience the bonuses right now.”
He then glanced down at the map, noticing a point marked with the number two appearing near Luo Yiran’s location.
A player from the werewolf faction? Via narrowed his eyes slightly.
Earlier, when he checked the map, he did see a player from Faction No. 2 heading towards the elf’s territory. But did they arrive so quickly?
Still, the doll should be fine. After all, it’s just a player…
His thoughts briefly paused as he recalled the hunter. Stroking his weapon, he sighed with feigned maturity, “Sometimes players are scarier than the bosses.”
About five meters away, Xia Lang, covered in green sap from the leaves, was nestled between branches. He was momentarily stunned by Via’s remark, then looked down at the map, feeling a twinge of concern. “Ranran…”
His worried gaze shifted from the map to the direction of the doll, not noticing a tracking blip moving towards his position.
Via observed the chaotic scene in the valley ahead-Wang Xiaoming and Feng Bai had stopped fighting each other and were now dealing with the boss. However, due to the boss’s external assault, they couldn’t leave the valley.
What a perfect situation. Via licked his lips as if savoring a delicious treat. He took out the item [Gun], which initially appeared as a palm-sized square box. Under Via’s gaze, it transformed into a gun as long as his arm.
Leaning back against the tree trunk, Via set up the gun, closed one eye, and peered through the scope. His voice was filled with excitement, “We should worry about ourselves first.”
But there was no trace of worry in his tone. Xia Lang looked up helplessly, also gazing towards the valley.
The black unicorn and dozens of werewolves were there.
The werewolves were besieging Wang Xiaoming and the hunter members, while the unicorn attacked Feng Bai.
“……”
Speaking of which, where’s the serpent man?
Xia Lang lowered his head-he remembered seeing on the map that the serpent man was close when he first arrived. He should be coming from the direction where Zhang Mimi was hiding, but why hadn’t he reached the valley yet?
Currently, Little Red, the lord Feng Bai belonged to, was stopped by Duan Miaomiao and Yuan Mo from reaching the doll. If the serpent man managed to get here, Wang Xiaoming would surely win…
Xia Lang’s gaze lingered on the map’s tracking blip representing the serpent man, and then his pupils dilated in shock as he stared at the overlapping blip with the serpent man’s location-this seemed to be him?
A dangerous presence suddenly emanated from beside him. Via, who had been aiming, instantly turned to look in Xia Lang’s direction and froze-
Where was Xia Lang?
Simultaneously, messages rapidly appeared on the holographic display beside him-
Zhang Mimi quickly said: [Li Qi Feng, what’s happening on your side? Why are the serpent man and Xia Lang’s tracking blips overlapping? And they’re moving away.]
Li Qi Feng: [I’m at their right rear, can’t see them at the moment… Via?]
Damn, he got taken right next to him… Via scratched his head in frustration, watching the map as Xia Lang and the serpent man’s tracking blips stayed tightly together, moving swiftly and already veering away from this area.
Looks like Wang Xiaoming won’t be able to wait for the lord to arrive… No, that’s not the main issue.
Via holstered his gun and quickly replied in the group chat: “I’ll bring him back.”
He slung the gun over his shoulder, hesitated as he looked in the direction where Li Qi Feng was, and then, the next moment, he saw Li Qi Feng’s approving message in the chat. With a deep breath, Via hurried towards Xia Lang and the serpent man.
-Teammate, why does this have to be so complicated?
Via moved silently through the woods.
Aside from Li Qi Feng, these were the first teammates he had ever had.
But unlike what uncle had said, teammates seemed to cause more trouble than joy!
The map on the holographic display showed that the serpent man hadn’t returned to his territory but had stopped midway-it wasn’t too far.
Yet Via stopped as well, his eyes fixed on a sudden message from Luo Yiran in the group chat-“You don’t need to bother with Xia Lang.”
Via stared for a moment to make sure he read it correctly, then scoffed coldly, and-
Via: “So, let him get killed???”
He was beyond angry! Not only was he far from uncle, but Xia Lang had been abducted right next to him, and he had already run out, only for his supposed friend to say they shouldn’t bother?
Via’s round face scrunched up as he looked down-
“Ranran, do you have no heart? That’s a serpent man! He’s an instance boss. Isn’t Xia Lang just a bite-sized meal for him?”
Luo Yiran didn’t reply.
Via huffed loudly, leaving one last message: “Forget you then, he called me ‘brother’, I’ll go save him myself!”
Not far away, Li Qi Feng rested his hand on his chin, his figure hidden among the leaves as he watched Via’s last message on the holographic display. The scar stretching from his mouth to his temple twitched slightly with his facial expressions-
He had been negligent. After all, Xia Lang was still a teenager, an age when one naturally seeks friends of similar age.
The silver thread retracted into his palm, the grime on it staining the doll’s left hand, unnoticed by Luo Yiran as he watched the group chat.
Then, seeing Via’s message, he couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle.
The chuckle made the woman opposite him explode: “What are you laughing at!”
Luo Yiran left a message in the group chat, “Xia Lang can win,” then looked up, “Nothing… But I am curious why you insist on clinging to me so desperately when you should be more concerned about seizing the treasure right now?”
Clinging to the young master?
The magician’s senses sharpened instantly as he eyed the woman with beastly legs, his voice filled with wariness: “Those who cling desperately usually have ulterior motives.”
Speaking from personal experience.
Feeling the murderous intent emanating from the magician, the woman’s face twisted momentarily-she knew that the most important thing now was to seize the treasure. The werewolf-given beast legs were better than human legs-faster and stronger. It wouldn’t take her long to run to aid the werewolf, but still, she felt resentful.
The woman, bristling with weapons, glared intently at the doll.
The werewolf pack was driven by pure instinct. They could speak, but communication was futile. Only the lord could be reasoned with, yet his strong self-awareness made any consensus impossible. Thus, she had to strategize with the players from her territory to clear the instance.
Amidst the chaos outside, she decided to avoid conflict with the players initially, opting instead to venture into the elf’s territory. Like Wang Xiaoming, her approach was to slaughter and seize the treasure.
After expending some items and energy, she only managed to kill the regulator, while the elf slipped away.
Absolutely no sense of achievement!
The regulator couldn’t be killed for good. The next time an instance required him, he’d reappear as if nothing had happened. She’d already killed that regulator once in another instance.
But bosses might be different; she hadn’t seen a dead boss reappear in the game.
The elf was her first potential boss kill, but it unexpectedly escaped.
Moreover, the elf reclaimed its ear as it fled.
Victory was within reach, only to vanish in an instant. Frustrated, she searched the elf’s territory extensively but to no avail. The elf’s aura blended seamlessly with the forest, making it impossible to find when it hid deliberately.
At that time, the map didn’t show everyone’s tracking blips, and the werewolves were calling for their help to reclaim a tooth.
So, she had to give up temporarily, hoping the elf would succumb to its injuries, which she had inflicted heavily.
But Luo Yiran killed the elf before it could die on its own.
No treasure, no kill credit. She was truly unwilling to accept it-why hadn’t she noticed the map sooner!
“Though I don’t mind continuing the fight, we won’t settle this quickly, and your time seems limited,” the doll said with a smile, raising his hand as the bob on the silver thread swayed. His gaze clearly shifted to the side, indicating the holographic display.
Her display panel showed the werewolf’s health bar, which had dropped below half, indicating that half of the werewolf pack had perished-her side’s boss couldn’t die, or they’d be barred from using force.
Though reaching the werewolf wouldn’t take long, the map showed other bosses and numerous players there, raising the risk of unexpected events…
Argh, so frustrating!
The woman mentally noted the doll for future reference-once the werewolf was safe, she’d definitely return to settle the score with the doll!
She turned to leave, eyeing the silver thread glinting in her path. As she raised her hand to snap it, she hesitated, frowning deeply-there was a sense that breaking the thread would instead tear her hand apart.
The doll tilted his head with a smile, drawing out his words, “Why stop? Why not give it a try? It’s a new thread I made, first time using it… might be fragile.”
The magician chuckled, deliberately adding, “She won’t dare, young master, look at her-she’s definitely scared.”
“…!” The woman spun around, “Shut up! Damn it, you want to die without a body…”
Her voice trailed off as she met the doll’s gaze. The meaning in those red eyes made her expression change drastically. She watched as the doll’s long, ball-jointed fingers tapped his smooth face, his voice dripping with audacity, “Then come, kill me.”
Provoked. The woman’s expression darkened.
In the tense silence, the magician quietly asked, “Young master, weren’t we letting her go?”
The doll replied just as softly, “Just remembered your weapon’s a bit lacking, so I’m ‘borrowing’ some weapons for you.”
“…?”
The woman, after a moment of shock, felt her forehead veins bulge, her face contorting with offended rage, “I can still hear you!!”
“Let go? Who’s letting who go, damn it?”
“And you want weapons? Then come and take them! If you can take them from me, they’re yours! Come on!”
