Doll Survival Game - Chapter 76 - Fairy Tale Forest (Part 13)
The magician’s wings were merely an item; he didn’t have wings of his own. He used them to avoid being grabbed by other players, and these wings were much faster than those of the player. Thus, they arrived first.
While the doll was conversing with the angel, the magician put away the item and glanced at the angel. If the angel was here, then the Demon must be around too… most likely in Little Red’s territory. What a headache.
The doll wasn’t paying attention to the magician. Instead, he watched the angel’s angry face and suddenly smiled. “You just want to kill someone, so why bother with excuses? Such hypocrisy.”
The angel pointed his sword at the doll, who chuckled, his eyes narrowing. “Oh, dear angel, are you getting angry out of embarrassment?”
The angel neither spoke nor moved, but his blue eyes were stormy. Then, in the next moment, he turned abruptly, his six wings beating as he flew past Lin Ye, heading straight for the departing Duan Miaomiao and Via.
Upon seeing only the two of them, the angel hesitated-where was the child bitten by the serpent man?
Duan Miaomiao, who had taken the opportunity to sneak away when the doll arrived, heard the wind behind her. She didn’t look back but panicked. “Ahhh! Is he catching up?”
Via was much calmer, slowing his pace. “Don’t look back.”
Duan Miaomiao’s mind went blank for a moment. She didn’t turn around but sensed Via suddenly stopping-wait, was Via going to block him?
Shouldn’t it be her? Since entering the game, she hadn’t killed anyone, only pulled out her own tooth. The Innocent shouldn’t be killed by an angel, right?
But she’d heard that sometimes angels could convict someone just for stepping on an ant…
Via stopped and said, “We’ll need you tonight.”
Duan Miaomiao thought of the reward she had received, hesitated for a moment, and then dismissed the idea of turning back to help Via.
Via took a sharp breath, facing the angel charging at him, his eyes focused-luckily, he had brought enough weapons, but whether he could stop him was another matter. He’d rely on the uncle for cover…
Reaching to his waist, Via pulled out a small knife, no bigger than his palm.
The angel’s gaze fell on the knife, and just as a smirk appeared on his lips, he noticed a glint of silver floating beside him, a sense of danger creeping in.
Then that silver glint swiftly attached itself to him, and the angel paused. In the next second, the doll suddenly appeared at his side.
“?!”
The angel shifted his body, his sword hand faltering, and only then did he see that the silver glint seemed to be a small bob, connected to the doll by… a silver thread?
The angel halted, and Via hesitated for a moment before understanding when he met the doll’s gaze. Without hesitation, he turned and left.
Lin Ye sighed. Since the angel had declared him innocent, he hadn’t left but was watching the doll from nearby-ready to intervene if the doll was overpowered.
The silver thread was severed by the sword, and the doll began to fall. However, the magician, under the doll’s control, appeared from behind to catch him.
The angel’s gaze finally settled on the magician. “Long time no see. The Demon misses you.”
The magician didn’t respond to the angel. Instead, he asked the doll in his palm with a voice full of concern, “Young master, are you alright?”
“I’m fine.” The doll quickly reinforced the silver thread and then spread his fingers wide.
The angel was curious about the term “young master,” but in the blink of an eye, he saw the silver threads densely surrounding him, forming a circle. He sheathed his sword. “If the Demon heard you calling a player ‘young master,’ he’d be furious. After all, he admires you so much and always hopes to see you again.”
“And are you calling a player ‘young master’ just to annoy him?” the angel asked, looking at the doll.
The doll’s fingers trembled slightly. He assessed the situation, then narrowed his eyes dangerously.
“What nonsense are you talking about?” The magician was disgusted. “Don’t compare a pervert with the pure young master.”
The doll said, “Ugh.”
The magician responded, “Hmm?”
“But the Demon really does miss you,” the angel said, stroking his sword with utmost seriousness. “He misses every time you killed him.”
The magician, manipulated, placed the doll on his shoulder. His voice carried a deliberately nostalgic tone. “Wasn’t that decades ago?”
Then, in the next second, his tone turned cold. “Don’t worry, as long as he appears again, I’ll kill him without hesitation.”
“Why bother? We can’t truly kill each other…” The angel paused, his face turning sour.
The magician, with a smile, said to the doll, “Young master, look, he’s been warned.”
The doll’s face remained expressionless, but an icy aura emanated from him. “Stop the nonsense.”
The magician paused, and then he felt his body move. The doll, using the silver thread, left his shoulder, and the magician was manipulated to face the angel alone.
Huh? The magician glanced at the doll with a cold expression-was he angry?
Luo Yiran kept a stern face-he wasn’t angry; he just reacted this way.
Sitting high in the trees, the doll watched the angel. When the angel’s sword grazed the magician’s arm, he paused. Then, as the next danger approached, the doll attempted to release his control over the magician.
He only released control when the magician was sent under the angel’s sword, but the battle quickly shifted, and the angel was suddenly at a disadvantage.
The doll narrowed his eyes-from their time together, he could tell that the magician had likely been trapped somewhere for a long time; it wasn’t until he appeared that the magician was able to emerge from that place.
But why was it his appearance that allowed the magician to come out?
Was it because of the control?
-The magician was too dangerous. Without control, he might cause trouble, so he had been kept somewhere before?
The doll looked at his index finger.
Then he looked up again, watching the magician break one of the angel’s wings. White feathers fluttered, and the doll suddenly felt a strong conviction in his guess-this was probably the reason. Otherwise, the magician’s destructive power was simply too much.
The angel bent slightly as his wing broke. He was extremely tall, and when his massive wings were folded, their tips didn’t touch the ground. He addressed the magician, “You were too harsh on your ally, weren’t you? And you managed to strike at me during those moments when you weren’t being controlled. Did you think I wouldn’t notice?”
The magician sighed, “I was just trying to protect myself. If a sword was about to slice your neck and you suddenly found yourself free to move, wouldn’t you fight back?”
The angel quickly turned to the doll, “Looks like I should kill you first.”
The doll nonchalantly pointed at the magician, “Then you’ll have to kill my puppet first. As long as I can control the puppet, anyone who wants to kill me has to get through him first.”
The angel was silent.
He turned to the magician, “The Demon will be furious. Someone who can easily defeat me has become a puppet for a player.”
The doll withdrew his hand, considering for a moment before frowning, “Is he a masochist?”
The angel didn’t respond. Unable to defeat the magician and with more players entering from the north of the serpent man’s territory, he turned and left using his remaining intact pair of wings.
The doll watched as the long sword severed the silver thread, and the angel flapped his chicken wings to leave. He clicked his tongue-ten strands of silver thread weren’t strong enough, it seemed.
However, Luo Yiran didn’t plan to pursue. After all, the angel was heading in the opposite direction from Via and the others, and the map showed that Via’s group had already reached the edge of the serpent man’s territory. The angel, being a subordinate of the serpent man, could only go to the serpent man’s territory or the no lord’s territory.
And the no lord’s territory where Via and the others were heading wasn’t large. Even if the angel chased them, they could quickly leave and hide in another lord’s territory.
“Young master, aren’t you coming back to my shoulder?” the magician asked. “And the Demon is a pervert. If you encounter him, young master, I recommend leaving immediately.”
“Is he a masochist then?”
The magician paused, “If you mean someone who gets more excited the more he’s killed, then yes, he is.”
“And he has the ability to discern the truth of words and actions, so he knows I genuinely want to kill him,” the magician smirked. “That’s precisely why he clings to me.”
The doll wasn’t confused by this logic. He simply said, “Is he seeking death?”
“Probably,” the magician replied steadily. “Or maybe he’s enjoying the process of being killed.”
“Then he doesn’t need to limit himself to you. If he wants, anyone could kill him, right?” Luo Yiran glanced at Lin Ye nearby. The angel had left, but Lin Ye hadn’t moved, seemingly waiting for their conversation to end before approaching.
“Because I’m strong,” the magician laughed. “Being killed by someone powerful is more interesting, isn’t it, young master?”
The doll remained still, looking down at the magician below. Then he jumped from the tree, using the silver thread to cushion his fall, landing lightly on the magician’s shoulder. His voice reached the magician’s ear-
“Then, why do you want to kill him?”
The magician paused, not answering the question directly. Instead, he said, “Do you know why I suggest you leave immediately if you encounter the Demon, young master?”
“Because you, young master…”
His words reached the doll’s ears, and Luo Yiran’s expression slowly darkened.
Lin Ye thought their conversation was over, so he walked over and followed the map to Xia Lang’s location under a tree.
There was no sign of life here, just emptiness.
Lin Ye glanced at the holographic display, which was paused on the map, showing Via and the others meeting up with Zhang Mimi… and it seemed like there was an extra person?
Hesitating for a moment, Lin Ye decided not to inquire further and instead opened the messages.
Three minutes ago, Duan Miaomiao had sent a message in the group chat: “Xia Lang is using the invisibility cloth. Just remove it.”
Lin Ye felt around, confirming that he couldn’t see or sense anything, but he did touch something.
Following the edges, Lin Ye removed the invisibility cloth, and suddenly found himself face-to-face with Xia Lang’s vacant eyes.
Lin Ye froze, then couldn’t help but place a hand under Xia Lang’s nose-there was breathing…
But he looked as if he were dead.
Putting away the invisibility cloth, Lin Ye asked Xia Lang, “How are you feeling now?”
Xia Lang remained silent, his eyes empty as if he had lost his sight, his breathing extremely faint, but his lips were moving.
Lin Ye leaned in closer to Xia Lang, listened for a moment, then turned his head: “Doll, he’s calling for you…”
Lin Ye’s voice trailed off as he looked at the doll and the magician not far away. He wasn’t sure what had happened while he was checking on Xia Lang, but the doll was now using silver threads to control a knife against the magician’s neck.
The doll’s red eyes were filled with murderous intent, yet his tone had a hint of coaxing: “So what if you found out? Just cooperate obediently, or are you planning to do something unnecessary?”
What? What had the magician discovered about the doll?
Lin Ye looked at the magician, whose bandages twisted instantly under the doll’s threat. He heard the magician’s voice filled with excitement: “I don’t want to.”
“I’ll cooperate with you, my dear young master.”
“……”
Huh??
