Doll Survival Game - Chapter 108 - Part 5
The book had several bold and enlarged words: “Please don’t burn me!!!”
The book reacted quickly: “Thank you, daddy!”
Luo Yiran was speechless for a moment. He had never seen an item with self-awareness, let alone one with such shameless self-awareness.
Book: “Why!”
“Then answer the questions obediently, maybe you can survive.” The magician tilted his head slightly towards the doll: “Otherwise, my master will definitely burn you.”
Book: “Ask away!”
The book reacted quickly: “Thank you, daddy!”
Daddy…
It paused, seeing no reaction from the doll, and hurriedly continued writing, not even adding punctuation: “The first master gave me to the second master, the second master didn’t like me and left me here.”
The doll paused, then handed the book to the magician, expressionless: “Burn it anyway.”
The book was stunned: “I’m telling the truth!”
Book: “…There’s nothing more…”
The pages were filled with frantic scribbles of “yes” and exclamation marks.
“Then answer the questions obediently, maybe you can survive.” The magician tilted his head slightly towards the doll: “Otherwise, my master will definitely burn you.”
Book: “Ask away!”
The magician looked at Luo Yiran.
Luo Yiran’s expression remained unchanged: “Speak for yourself.”
The magician couldn’t help but laugh.
Book: “…”
The book, feeling aggrieved, wrote: “I am the monster communicator, I am very useful, don’t burn me. I can contact many monsters. My first master was the Demon, and my second master was the Dead Woman.”
It paused, seeing no reaction from the doll, and hurriedly continued writing, not even adding punctuation: “The first master gave me to the second master, the second master didn’t like me and left me here.”
Moreover, the Dead Woman had told the Demon with a good name that she had hidden it here.
The doll was stunned–monster communicator? Belonging to the Dead Woman?
He looked at the magician.
The magician spread his hands: “Young master, I don’t have one. Regardless of whether it’s true or false, let’s assume it’s true. Do you think the Demon would give me one?”
The book was stunned: “I’m telling the truth!”
Luo Yiran’s expression never softened: “Then continue.”
Book: “…There’s nothing more…”
Its entire life experience was summed up in these two short sentences, not even enough to fill a page.
The doll’s face turned cold: “Are you sure?”
The book was on the verge of tears, unable to think of anything else.
Luo Yiran pointed to the large door behind: “Do you know where the key is?”
Book: “No, no… I’ve been asleep, just woken up by the fire.”
The doll made a sound of acknowledgment, then sneered: “Completely useless.”
The book protested: “I can contact most monsters!”
Luo Yiran laughed again, this time with a particularly sinister tone: “As a player, should I contact the bosses to ask when it’s more convenient for me to die?”
The book fell silent. It seemed indeed useless to a player, so it pondered for a moment, then a line appeared on the paper: “This bandage daddy, why don’t you take me in!”
“Bandage daddy”–the magician was stunned, then quickly reacted: “Sure~”
Luo Yiran, who thought the magician would refuse: “…?”
The magician was quite happy, pointing at the doll: “He’s also daddy.”
The book understood and drew a heart on the paper.
“……”
……
Bang!
A sudden loud noise broke the silence of the floor. Xia Lang, Zhang Mimi, and the others instantly looked over, only to see the magician holding a book and crashing into the wall.
Zhang Mimi immediately went on guard: “An enemy?!”
A silver thread connected the wall to a half-collapsed bookshelf. The doll stood on this silver thread, with a candlestick hanging below him. The flickering light and shadow made the doll’s face appear terrifying. Luo Yiran smiled: “No enemies.”
…The smile made it even more terrifying. Zhang Mimi took a step back. Were they really not in a haunted house?
Yuan Mo pointed at the magician, who was slowly sliding down the wall and dusting himself off: “What about him…”
Luo Yiran’s smile faded: “I made him crash.”
“……”
Zhang Mimi and Yuan Mo fell silent. Xia Lang, on the other hand, showed a gloating smile, then quickly turned to search for the key when the magician looked at him.
Li Wei, not understanding, dared not speak. She quietly lowered her head to rummage through the bookshelf–why were they having internal strife when the road ahead was already so uncertain?!
Zhang Mimi glanced at the message sent by the doll in the group, then propped up a bookshelf–indeed, the doll’s thinking was different from his.
About ten minutes later, they were ejected.
Feeling a strong force propelling his body, Zhang Mimi quickly grabbed the floating Li Wei, and as they flew out the door, he directly embraced the screaming Li Wei.
Catching a glimpse of the collapse at the doorway, Zhang Mimi turned his body mid-air, using the remaining half-wall before the collapse to stop himself. As he stopped, he looked up at Xia Lang and Yuan Mo flying overhead: “Be careful!”
Xia Lang grabbed a low-hanging steel bar, while Yuan Mo crashed directly into a pile of stones. Xia Lang let go and ran towards Yuan Mo: “Yuan Mo-Ge, are you okay?”
Yuan Mo raised his head unscathed, a flash of white light passing where he had contacted the wall: “I’m fine…”
“Where’s Ranran?”
Luo Yiran stood at the doorway: “I’m here. If everyone’s fine, let’s continue inside.”
Zhang Mimi brushed off a tuft of gray from his bangs, looking at the magician and doll positioned at the doorway: “Why are you… at the door?”
The doll looked up: “I’m curious why you were all pushed out.”
“Huh?”
“Didn’t you check the time when you went in?” Luo Yiran’s gaze shifted to the holographic display for a moment: “When it’s almost half an hour, just walk out.”
So when he came out and saw the four of them flying out in unison at the doorway, he was momentarily unresponsive.
The three fell silent–they had completely forgotten about that.
Li Wei supported herself on a rock to stand up, still immersed in the shock of being pushed away yet unharmed: “You guys are amazing.”
The magician led Luo Yiran inside, using the book wrapped tightly in silver thread in his hand to knock on the main door: “Let’s keep searching, this time as the young master suggested.”
The three nodded in unison, except for Li Wei, who was bewildered.
Zhang Mimi lightly patted her shoulder: “Just follow me.”
Li Wei responded with an “oh,” and as she walked into Baige Tower, she instinctively moved towards the spot they had just left. She intended to continue searching from there, but Zhang Mimi pulled her back: “Let’s start here.”
Li Wei was taken aback, looking at the ground that had already been searched: “Didn’t we already search here?”
The doll walked past them: “Yes, search the places we’ve already searched.”
Li Wei’s eyes widened slowly: “…Oh! If the key can change positions, the most likely place it would hide is where we’ve already searched!”
“It’s not a certainty, but it’s quite possible,” the doll glanced at her.
During the first round of searching, the doll had sent a message saying that if they didn’t find it in this round, they should directly search the places they had already checked in the second round. So Xia Lang and the others had noted the positions they had moved before.
However, the first floor itself was dusty, and their movements had wiped away most of the dust, making it easier to identify.
The four of them quickly searched, and since the doll and the magician had searched very few places before, it took them less than ten minutes to finish.
However, there was no key in these places.
The doll looked up at the ceiling, which was flat and without even a light, making it almost impossible for the key to be hidden above… so it was up to Xia Lang and the others…
Wait.
Luo Yiran looked towards the door leading to the second floor.
The magician had been watching the doll closely and asked, “Want to take a look?”
“Yes.”
It might be hidden in the space between the fake door and the real door.
The magician walked over with the candlestick, and the book in his hand trembled slightly. The magician glanced at it but ignored it.
The two quickly arrived at the door. The magician pressed the lock and then pushed the door open. The gap between the two doors was not large, and as the candlelight flickered around, neither the doll nor the magician found a key there.
The magician stopped and called softly, “Young master.”
Luo Yiran’s red eyes narrowed slightly, and something flashed quickly through his mind. As the thought passed, Luo Yiran’s body reacted swiftly. He suddenly raised his hand and used the silver thread to hook the combination lock on the door for the second time.
With a slight force, he lifted the cover of the combination lock, and both Luo Yiran and the magician were silent as they saw the key inserted in the lock hole below.
The doll smirked, “Interesting.”
The magician reached out to grasp the key and turned it. With a slight click, the door to the second floor was opened.
Once the door was opened, the key in his hand disappeared. Luo Yiran turned his head, “No need to search anymore, the door is open.”
The others were taken aback, and Xia Lang tiptoed, “Where?”
Luo Yiran: “On the door.”
Everyone: “…?”
Luo Yiran turned back–hidden in a place they had already checked, and it was even on the lock hole…
“Why are there two doors? And where exactly on the door was it hidden?” Zhang Mimi was the first to arrive and asked.
The doll pointed to the area below the combination lock connected by the silver thread.
Zhang Mimi stared at it for a while and then spat out two words: “So sneaky.” It was already impressive that they thought to search places they had already checked, and yet the key appeared on the door.
And what was the point of covering the lock with a fake combination lock?
Li Wei peeked from behind him, her eyes wide: “There was only one door before!”
Luo Yiran glanced at her, just in time to see Xia Lang and Yuan Mo approaching as well. He didn’t hesitate: “Let’s go up.”
There was no light in the staircase either, but the three of them carried candles, so it didn’t affect them.
They quickly reached the second floor, and after pushing open the door, they all stopped. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to continue forward, but they were temporarily unable to.
The second floor was cut off.
In front of them was a milky white tube suspended in mid-air, and below the tube was an abyss of darkness.
Zhang Mimi squatted down with the candle, looking below: “Can’t see the bottom… It’s strange, this is supposed to be the second floor.”
Li Wei, a bit afraid of heights, didn’t dare to get close: “It seems like each floor is a separate space.”
Just as she finished speaking, the door behind her clicked shut, startling Li Wei. She turned around, her eyes filled with fear: “Why did the door close?”
Luo Yiran looked at her: “It didn’t close last time you came?”
Li Wei shook her head vigorously: “No!”
The four exchanged glances, and the doll, hidden in the magician’s hair, sent a message in the group chat: [If what Li Wei said is true, then the person who came with Li Wei to Baige Tower last time wasn’t a player.]
The three glanced at the holographic display, their expressions changing, but they all understood the implication of this statement–the number of participants in this instance was not small. If there wasn’t a setup where the door closed immediately after a team passed through, then other teams could follow and take advantage.
And the game wouldn’t allow such a thing to happen.
Zhang Mimi took a deep breath, his face serious as he turned to try and pull the door: “It won’t open.”
Li Wei’s expression changed once again.
