Desperados Attack - Chapter 64 - Counterkill
Duan Pingzhang was merely a mortal, and despite his extraordinary abilities, he ultimately couldn’t stand against the terrifying figure before him.
“Hmm?”
Mohuoluoja laughed heartily and said, “You’re quite arrogant, young man. But now that you’ve met me, even though you would be considered a formidable talent among your peers.”
At that moment, Duan Pingzhang, who had collapsed and was lying sprawled on the ground, gasped for air, barely able to breathe.
He was dying!
“Am I… am I… am I going to die?”
Duan Pingzhang hadn’t expected his life to end so soon, considering he often proclaimed himself the master of other people’s lives. It turned out that evil begets evil, and now he faced a tragic fate.
“Die? If I don’t let you die, you won’t die!”
Mohuoluoja had crawled up close and viciously stabbed his sword into Duan Pingzhang’s chest. The ferocity of the stab shocked everyone.
“Gulp!”
Duanmu Xun swallowed hard, terrified by the scene unfolding before her.
Watching the confident Mohuoluoja, as he thrust his sword without a hint of pity, he simply stated, “You won’t die!”
Indeed, amidst the surprised and panicked looks of the onlookers, the potentially fatal stab to Duan Pingzhang’s chest seemed to inflict no harm at all.
But how could such a deadly stab cause no harm?
Mohuoluoja’s stab had hit Duan Pingzhang right in the chest. Regardless of the strength behind the sword, even a toddler wielding it could perform incredible feats, let alone a demon like Mohuoluoja.
The crowd watched as Duan Pingzhang was impaled and lifted by Mohuoluoja, who then demanded, “Tell me where the Black Wolf Banner and the Wolf-Calling Lantern are. Speak now, and I might spare your life!”
Duan Pingzhang was terrified, his eyes filled with fear and panic. Being suspended by the sword, he felt immense pressure though no pain.
“I… I don’t know.”
He truly didn’t know, but such an innocuous response was unlikely to convince Mohuoluoja.
The night was deep.
It was a time when everyone should have been sound asleep, yet no one could leave, all watching the horrifying scene unfold.
“You don’t know? Do you think I’m a fool?”
Mohuoluoja, looking disdainful, withdrew his sword, causing Duan Pingzhang to fall to the ground with a “thud,” stirring up dust. Those watching wished they could wince in sympathy at his pain.
“Young man, do you really take me for a fool? Don’t you know that among the Eight Deities of Heaven, I am known as ‘The Calculator’? Speak quickly of the whereabouts of these two items, and avoid further pain, or else I will cast you into the hell of the seven seas, hmm-?”
Duan Pingzhang trembled and convulsed on the ground, truly unaware, yet Mohuoluoja remained skeptical. From the start, Duan had stood out, and Mohuoluoja assumed he was the Master of the place.
“I… I really… really… really don’t know… Let me go… just let me go…”
Duan Pingzhang stammered, his pitiful state causing onlookers to frown in sympathy.
They sighed at the power of the Serpent Man and the wretchedness of Duan Pingzhang.
“What? What are you saying? You’re lying to me!”
Mohuoluoja assumed that Duan was defending the Black Wolf Banner, which is why he confronted him. Now, with Duan denying its whereabouts, Mohuoluoja was enraged to the point of nearly gnashing his teeth.
He yelled, “You stubborn fool, fine, then fall into the hell of suffering and hatred!”
As he spoke, his sword descended with him, casting a crescent-shaped sword energy that was exceptionally bright in the darkness of night.
In an instant, just an instant!
Duan Pingzhang was cleaved into three pieces by the sword energy.
Blood spilled, a gruesome sight.
Duanmu Xun, watching from the side, averted her gaze and closed her eyes. Despite being a formidable figure from the Western Regions, known as a heroine among women, even she was shaken to her core by such a scene.
Mohuoluoja, pleased and delighted by the spectacle, said, “Killing feels satisfying, but it’s a pity, what a pity, that you didn’t even wail!”
Seeing Duan Pingzhang’s body in pieces, Mohuoluoja lost interest. With a casual fling of his sword, the blood was flung away.
He intended to burn Duan’s body.
“Stop!”
Suddenly, from mid-air came some hidden weapon or special skill, nullifying Mohuoluoja’s attack.
“Oh?”
Mohuoluoja gasped, saying, “What, you disagree?”
He acted arrogantly, lacking Su Xinghe’s humility and calmness, exuding only blatant arrogance.
“He’s already dead. Why destroy his body as well?”
“Destroy the body?”
Mohuoluoja questioned in surprise, seemingly taken aback by Duanmu Xun’s question. Indeed, he didn’t need to destroy the body.
“Of course. If not for eradicating any traces, why deny him a complete body in death?”
Duanmu Xun couldn’t comprehend his actions, thinking that even a demon shouldn’t behave so.
But who was Mohuoluoja?
All they heard was, “Why deny him a whole body? Because I’m evil!”
This statement enraged Duanmu Xun, as she glared at the half-man, half-snake creature before her. His brazen demeanor, combined with a face that looked as if it were begging to be punched, made her itch to stab him just to vent her anger. However, she knew well that she was no match for him.
“Listen, I’ll ask you three questions. If you can answer them to my satisfaction, I’ll give you the Black Wolf Banner and the Wolf-Calling Lantern. How about that?”
Mohuoluoja burst out laughing, taking this as a sign of her surrender. “You foolish woman, still setting terms with me? Don’t you know….”
His laughter abruptly stopped mid-sentence, a realization dawning on him.
He realized that Duanmu Xun wasn’t admitting defeat but feigning weakness. Despite appearing weak, she was still cunning.
Mohuoluoja knew he had to answer her three questions first; otherwise, he wouldn’t get the Black Wolf Banner or even a clue about it.
“Hmph, go ahead and ask. But after these three questions, if I don’t see the Black Wolf Banner and the Wolf-Calling Lantern, don’t blame me for tearing you apart!”
Mohuoluoja then coiled up his serpent tail and sat down, plunging his sword into the ground, leaving only the hilt visible, and crossed his arms.
Meanwhile, Duanmu Xun seated herself in a chair.
The fire in the iron brazier burned brightly.
From a table already set for a feast, Duanmu Xun picked up a jug crafted from white jade and poured a cup of wine. After taking a sip, she couldn’t help but remark, “Fine wine.”
“Enough with the distractions, tell me, what are your questions?”
Duanmu Xun asked, “Who are you?”
