Desperados Attack - Chapter 52 - Under the Moonlight
Nighttime at the front of Nine Star Manor.
Su Xinghe and Tu Ning’er were hiding in a tree just outside the manor. They observed the brightly lit manor, aware that a banquet was in progress. Intermittent shrieks of surprise from women, mixed with moans of distress, echoed from within.
Listening to these sounds, two female guards stood leisurely at the manor gate, seemingly enjoying the grand feast. Su Xinghe watched them eating and drinking carelessly, which reminded him of his own solemn and sacred Shu Mountain, making him feel that this place was rather trivial.
“Hey.”
Su Xinghe was interrupted by Tu Ning’er, who was growing impatient.
He turned to her and said, “Don’t rush; just watch my move.”
“What move? What are you planning to do?”
Tu Ning’er looked at Su Xinghe’s confident demeanor. Although she was puzzled, she held back her questions.
“See those two women? They’re supposed to be gatekeepers of the manor but here they are, drunk and disgraceful. It’s hard to believe such riffraff could cause such uproar in the Western Regions. Just watch me take them down.”
Su Xinghe did not wish to kill or harm anyone, but the scene before him was too irritating to ignore. He had a clever plan to teach them a lesson and sneak into the manor.
“Go!”
Su Xinghe gestured, and a piece of yellow paper flew from his sleeve like a dart, unstoppable as an arrow.
“Whoosh!”
Unexpectedly, just a piece of paper demonstrated such force.
In the dead of night, not even a crossbow bolt could have been more effective. The paper was now flying straight towards them. Su Xinghe was confident, not wanting to hurt them physically, just to teach them a lesson.
Yet he underestimated the premier manor of the Western Regions.
“Who’s there?”
A beautiful female guard looked up sharply, snatching the yellow paper from the air and crushing it to dust in her grip.
“What? How is that possible?”
Su Xinghe was taken aback, his eyes filled with dismay.
Seeing this, Tu Ning’er, who had thought the plan was going smoothly, repeatedly asked, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
Su Xinghe, still in shock, quickly recovered and chuckled, “Indeed, it is the foremost manor.”
With a leap, he was in front of the two female guards.
This risky jump was beyond Tu Ning’er’s understanding.
“Who are you?”
The guard who had intercepted the yellow paper snapped her fingers, breaking the wine jar she held, which shattered, spilling wine everywhere.
“I…”
As Su Xinghe reached for the hilt of his sword and was about to introduce himself formally, the female guard swung a long spear from beside her.
“Die!”
She handled the spear expertly, gripping it a foot from the head and four feet from the tail-a rare technique, unparalleled and seldom seen.
“Ah? This… this… this…”
Su Xinghe hadn’t intended to fight, nor had he expected the guard to attack. But his gesture of reaching for his sword while bowing was mistakenly perceived as aggressive.
“Die!”
The spear thrust forward, combining stiffness with flexibility, strength with softness, perfectly balanced, leaving Su Xinghe no opportunity to find a flaw.
“Stop, I am here to pay respects to the manor!”
Su Xinghe intended to explain, but perhaps the female guard had been drinking, or maybe she never intended to stop her attack in the first place, as she showed no sign of pulling back.
“Hit!”
Su Xinghe, who always showed deep respect for women, found himself in a difficult position as this lady, clad in armor, her features obscured, displayed a distinctly masculine valor. With his competitive spirit stirred, Su Xinghe no longer held back, muttering, “Watch out, I won’t be pulling any punches, hmm!”
Her mocking laughter made the female guard take a sharp intake of breath. After her thrust missed, she no longer advanced, instead retreating repeatedly, her steps slightly disordered by the alcohol.
Seeing this, Su Xinghe’s heart softened momentarily. Raised in Shu Mountain, he was taught to treat others with respect, and he detested rudeness. Despite his reluctance, aware that his opponent was a woman, he hesitated to strike.
The guard, seeing Su Xinghe’s hesitation as an empty threat, steeled herself and pushed forward with force, launching another spear thrust.
Su Xinghe, unable to bear it any longer, raised his sword. In the dark night, a streak of blue light flashed, a move unseen by anyone before, casting a chilling glow under the moon, terrifying to behold.
The incoming spear had not yet reached him when it saw Su Xinghe’s sword strike and tried to pull back. But the move was too swift; retracting the internal energy so quickly would severely damage the wielder’s muscles and bones. The spear continued its charge, striking the cold blue moonlight.
With a loud “clang,” the spear snapped in two.
The spearhead flew uncontrollably into the manor’s main hall.
“What?”
The female guard, seeing this, wanted to pursue it but was too slow. Her expression gradually turned from shock to panic.
“I have come to visit your manor, and this maid is quite rude.”
“Enough of your words! You clearly came here to provoke a fight. Don’t you run away; I will call the Manor Lord to take your life.”
Su Xinghe could no longer restrain himself; he raised his hand and struck the manor gate. He had always upheld a philosophy of calm and patience, taught by Zhang Gulou of Deer Manor.
This method involved closing one’s eyes, shutting out the senses, and focusing solely on feeling the sincerity between people.
Su Xinghe, exceptionally intelligent and gifted, had shown remarkable improvement in just a few days, yet he was not content with just that. His immense pride now pushed him beyond patience.
For this technique was indeed too much to endure.
At that moment, he could no longer hold back and exclaimed, “Maid, quickly summon your master. I must discuss this matter today!”
Upon hearing this, two female guards hurriedly ran into the manor to report, but just as they were halfway through, a chaotic laughter reached Su Xinghe’s ears.
“Hehe, who is this brave man at the front of the manor?”
A woman was the first to emerge from the manor gates. Under the night sky, the candlelight flickered wildly, casting moving shadows across her face.
It was difficult to discern her features clearly, but from her graceful footsteps and her elegant figure, it was evident that she was a woman.
A woman capable of making a man give his heart completely.
Su Xinghe, unable to see her clearly, assumed she was a person of power and influence and immediately cupped his fists, asking, “May I ask who stands before me?”
“Hmm hmm~”
Another cold yet teasing laugh followed, and the woman just stared at Su Xinghe.
In the darkness, Su Xinghe couldn’t actually see that the woman was staring at him, but he could feel it-the chill in her eyes.
“This young gentleman, are you not aware of the rules of Nine Star Manor?”
Her voice was irresistibly enchanting. Had she not spoken directly in front of Su Xinghe, he might have resorted to violence.
“Whoo~”
Su Xinghe’s heartbeat quickened, and the hot lump on his forehead protruded once again.
