Desperados Attack - Chapter 51 - In Front of the Manor
“It’s the man who was having noodles with Xiao Feng before you arrived.”
“Man?”
In Tu Ning’er’s heart, eyes, and mind, there was no room for any man other than Xiao Feng. At Uncle Fang’s mention, she couldn’t recall anything.
“Oh dear, it’s that young hero in plain clothes with an exceptional appearance. Even though I, an old man, may not have great skills, I have encountered many people at this grand market. I’ve seen at least a thousand if not eight hundred, so I couldn’t possibly be mistaken. If you want to save Xiao Feng, you must find him!”
Tu Ning’er said skeptically, “Where should I find him?”
Uncle Fang replied, “Why are you so stubborn, girl? The grand market hasn’t ended yet. You could shout that something has happened to Xiao Feng or something similar; wouldn’t that draw him out?”
Tu Ning’er, inspired, said, “Yes, I’ll do that.”
Tu Ning’er lacked the subtlety typical of women and was rather straightforward. Hearing Uncle Fang’s clever suggestion, she immediately stood up and shouted, “Xiao Feng is in trouble!”
Her cries grew louder and louder, reaching everyone at the grand market, though they didn’t understand what she meant.
It was already past noon, three o’clock.
Half a day went by, and Tu Ning’er had shouted throughout the grand market without finding any trace of Su Xinghe.
“Alas, could it be that my beloved will meet a tragic end?”
Tu Ning’er sat on a stone, deeply saddened. Thinking about her beloved’s current predicament, she felt utterly helpless.
The more she thought about it, the worse it seemed, convincing herself that Xiao Feng was doomed. In her distress, she grabbed a stone the size of a fist and aimed it at her head.
You could say Tu Ning’er was truly a straightforward woman, without a second thought. She grabbed the stone and struck.
But things didn’t go as she wished-death wasn’t so easy.
“Snap!”
A flash of white light struck the stone in Tu Ning’er’s hand, reducing it to dust, and she inadvertently slapped her own forehead.
“Who is it?”
Tu Ning’er asked, looking around quickly, assuming someone was playing a prank on her.
“Big sister, what are you doing?”
The person was none other than Su Xinghe.
“Who are you?”
Tu Ning’er looked at Su Xinghe, assuming he was a troublemaker, not noticing if his attire matched the plain robe described by Uncle Fang.
“Huh?”
Su Xinghe, caught off guard by her question, looked at this unusual woman and said, “Aren’t you looking for me?”
“Looking for you? I…”
Tu Ning’er finally realized and stood up, running a few steps and shouting from a distance, “Yes, it’s you!”
Then, she took a big stride forward, grabbed Su Xinghe’s wrist, and said, “Let’s go! We must hurry!”
Tu Ning’er grabbed Su Xinghe’s hand and sprinted southwest.
Su Xinghe observed this. Even though he tried to resist with his strength, he couldn’t break free from Tu Ning’er.
He was puzzled and thought to himself, “You called me for half a day at the grand market without explaining anything. Now that you’ve met me, you’re still not saying anything. How can I just follow you blindly?”
With that thought, he used a bit of force, enveloped his right hand with a swirl of blue smoke, and yanked backward, finally freeing himself from her grip.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m asking you!”
Faced with Tu Ning’er’s sudden question, Su Xinghe was a bit at a loss, thinking she somewhat reminded him of the young man wielding the Devil Sword.
“I’m trying to save someone!”
Her words interrupted Su Xinghe’s thoughts.
“Save who?”
Both of them were unclear, which led to so much conversation.
“Didn’t Uncle Fang tell you?”
“Uncle Fang didn’t tell me! Hey, who is Uncle Fang?”
“Stop joking, this is a matter of life and death!”
Su Xinghe was confused; he didn’t know what Tu Ning’er was talking about or what he was supposed to do.
Originally, he was buying oranges for Qiusui at the fruit stall, but unexpectedly, Tu Ning’er’s words had startled him. He thought she was someone causing him trouble, so he followed her halfway.
Once they were face to face, the situation wasn’t clarified.
“Oh dear, why are you so troublesome? Xiao Feng has been captured, and only you can save him. Don’t you know?”
“Uh…”
Su Xinghe was taken aback. Though self-confident, he wasn’t arrogant. He thought for a moment that there wasn’t anything in the world he absolutely had to do. So he asked, “What exactly are you talking about?”
Seeing that she couldn’t move him another step, Tu Ning’er finally said, “Do you know Xiao Feng?”
Su Xinghe nodded.
“Oh, that’s enough!”
Su Xinghe took a deep breath, realizing he hadn’t asked his questions.
“Don’t act rashly, or I won’t be polite with you!”
Su Xinghe was angry, and this was the first time he felt differently toward a woman.
“Oh dear, my beloved was taken by the people of Nine Star Manor, and that orphan girl was captured too!”
“Hmph, what does that have to do with me… Orphan? Who?”
Su Xinghe usually avoided such matters, especially after the Deer Manor incident; he didn’t want to get involved. But upon hearing about an orphan, he thought of his good friend, Qiusui.
“Oh dear, it’s that orphan without parents, the girl who sells embroidery. That’s not the point; we need to hurry to Nine Star Manor to save Feng-Ge.”
Su Xinghe felt a pang in his heart. Indeed, Qiusui had been captured, but he couldn’t rashly enter the manor. The last thing he wanted was to get involved with women, and now he had to enter a woman’s manor, a terrifying prospect for him. After Deer Manor, the news reached Shu Mountain, and Su Xinghe was told he couldn’t use his identity as a disciple of Shu Mountain to get involved in Jianghu conflicts.
“Uh…”
“Oh, stop thinking, let’s go quickly!”
Without further ado, Su Xinghe was dragged along by Tu Ning’er.
